Yes. Stories have mysteriously vanished. I fiddled, tweaked, rewrote, and several thousand more words later, they were no longer fanfiction, so I sold 'em. Visit Shadowfire Press in late May.

Many thanks to Slian Martreb, Magical Maeve, Poultrygeist, Insecurity, and Ravensgryff for beta-reading, Britpicking, checking my insights on the life of a young professor, and generally letting me know when I am being foolish. I have to throw huge amounts of appreciation to Nat for Brit-law-picking and Andrea for second opinions -- not to mention making sure DSoP makes sense to someone who hasn't read the other brazillion words. A second thanks to the lovely and talented Slian Martreb for story-pimping, review-padding, and putting up with the RatStar! Her author page now includes "Summer Letters," a little something we co-wrote.
I have actually been active on the site lately. Mostly, though, I've been pursuing the elusive dream of real publication (with some small success! Try September 2009 editions of Reflection's Edge, Emerald Tales, and Crossed Genres, or Shadowfire Press) and haven't come back to post on Six Roses or Dumbledore's Delight. I do still intend to finish them. Sometime. Honest.
Summary: Before Regulus chooses a pair of socks, he asks Kreacher's opinion. Before tackling something larger, he needs to ask a more experienced sneak's advice.
Summary: On the night before her wedding, Lily has second thoughts.
Summary: Ginny has had just about enough to do with boys. To her surprise, she's not the only one who thinks the males of Gryffindor could use a good hexing.
Summary: Severus pauses in his eternal grading to ponder a student who could be getting better marks.
Summary: Who was Lucius Malfoy's first love? Someone who stole his heart caused him more trouble than ever he expected and introduced him to romance in winter.
This story has been nominated in the hurt/comfort category in owl.tauri.org's awards for 2006 fanfics. It has also recieved a Runner-Up award for Best Romance in the Mod Quicksilver Quills.
Summary: Simone Cheney has a moral dilemma to solve: explain the horrible mess, or betray her dearest friend?
Summary: Severus has an apology to make to a first year student, in spite of misgivings and several personal rules of conduct.
This is rated for some shadowed implications of events past, none of which quite fit in the warnings.
Summary: Part of the Triwizarding Tournament is the traditional Yule Ball. Two people ascend from the dungeons to attend and enjoy themselves in their own ways.
Summary: Lily returns to Hogwarts at the beginning of her sixth year and discovers how inconvenient it is to be sixteen, pretty, and Muggleborn.
Summary: At the beginning of third year all Hogwarts students choose the first steps on their career paths, whether ready for the decision or not. Some choose them with more noise and fanfare than others.
Summary: The young and bored Sirius Black amuses himself with the top hat in his closet, inspired by the nefarious influence of Muggle television. **Warning -- natural rabbit behaviour within**
Summary: Lily's eighteenth birthday is approaching fast. Will one of her friends figure out to do with a long-neglected organ?
The Amazing and Adaptable, Quick and Accurate, Handy-Dandy Spell-Check Quill by Vindictus Viridian
Rated: 1st-2nd Years [Reviews - 14]
Summary: Ron has made a most exceptional purchase at his brothers' new shop.
Summary: For Spring Challenge 4: Lamb to the Slaughter. Pigwidgeon brings a note to the Malfoy manor in the summer after Draco's fourth year of Hogwarts. This is a sequal to Blue Eyes Reflecting and Blue Eyes Reproachful; the boys are back again by popular demand. Thanks to Slian Martreb for beta-reading and garyf, joanna, and MrTibbles for a helpful canon check!
Summary: Society-page reporter and music critic Imelda Skeeter found herself with a bit more to report than she had bargained for when she attended an Elgar oratorio in 1941. Formerly for the Daily Prophet Challenge, the society-event option, and bunnied by the discovery of a remarkable historical moment.
Summary: The Malfoys are entertaining, and it is time for little Draco to go to bed. He, of course, can think of better things to do than sleep.
Summary: Severus has never seen the appeal of repetition, particularly of things that ended badly the first time. In his life, he has kept one pet, owned one broom, and had one close friend.
Winner of Mod Quicksilver Quill for Best Novel! Thanks, all!
Rating and warnings do not apply to all chapters; I just didn't want anyone hooked and then shocked.
Summary: "If you judge people, you have no time to love them." --Mother Teresa.
To love James, Lily needs to discover his better side. To earn Lily's love, James needs to fight his own prejudices -- and learn to cope with battle-scarred tomcats, toads, and the sneakier side of his own nature. This was a Ravenclaw entry for February's Challenges -- and it won, by the way.
The SSP warning is because I simply cannot resist sticking Peter and Sirius together at all possible opportunities, even in the background of other higher pursuits. Mild profanity will also occur, a natural side effect of putting James and Severus within shouting distance of each other.
Summary: Long enough to make sense...Short enough for Pig to carry...Long enough to say everything...Short enough for -- maybe send Pig somewhere else and borrow Hermes?
Originally for the February Challenges -- "It is better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all." A sequel to "Blue Eyes Reflecting."
Summary: After his task is completed, Draco finds himself left alone to consider his assumptions. He finds interesting reading material to help him along as he frets in an abandoned hovel. This was a Ravenclaw entry for the February Challenges, in the "Love Yourself" category, in which the character had to feel better about himself at the end than at the beginning, and contains some adult themes and HBP spoilers.
