Hola all, I am Amanda, and welcome to my profile page! I am not responsible for any disease or disorder you may contract from visiting it.
But, as I have now decided that I'm going to cut all the crap from this page and stick with the vitals:
My OTPs (yes, plural) are as follows:
My favourite characters are Luna and Ginny.
Summary: WARNING! This story contains a jingle-bell antler headband, a shower of potatoes, boy/girl mushiness, underwear karaoke, family trouble, an excessively adorable werewolf, death, the song "Werewolves of London," betrayal, and the word 'Jordan' five times in a row near the beginning of chapter seven.
Twenty-one years after Voldemort's defeat, five fourth-years are faced with a new threat. Will all of the five stay true to the light side? Will they all emerge whole in the end? Will Jordan Potter ever get a life? You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll gasp, you'll sigh! Part one in a trilogy!
Well, after much deliberation and consideration, I've decided to submit my future-gen trilogy! This particular installment is three years old, so it's definitely different from my current writing style, but I'm quite fond of the characters.
DH is disregarded. It's a total coincidence that one of the main characters is named Ted Lupin.
Starring Quicksilver Quills 2008 Best Male Original Character runner-up Jordan Potter, Best Female Original Character nominees Ivy Potter, Haley Potter, and Emma Weasley, and Best Male Original Character nominee Ted Lupin!
Five times nominated (once for each member of Potter's Pentagon!) for the Best Post-Hogwarts story in the 2007 Quicksilver Quills Awards, and nominated for Best Post-Hogwarts story in the 2008 Quicksilver Quill Awards...
Argh, I'm only on chapter three and I'm already feeling compelled to write an extremely lengthy (well, maybe not!) review [:
So, I really love this story. It's well written and humourous. Your lines are classic: "twice as perky as a pot of fresh coffee," and things like that. I love them [: If I had time, I would find something to critique, but I can't [: Your characters are very original (discluding the James/Tyrone similarity, but you said already that it was unintentional!) and their characterization is great. I love it [:
Author's Response: I like reviews of any kind. ^_^ I\'m so glad you like this story, since this is the first fanfiction I ever wrote and I felt a bit nervous about posting it. Luckily, Tyrone does evolve a bit more, and by book three he\'s very much his own person. Thanks for the lovely review!
Summary: This is the story of a boy and a girl. And a boy. This is the story of love returned and unreturned, of friendship gone dry, and of the things people will do for love. This is the story of James Potter and Lily Evans and Severus Snape. *two-shot*
Ah, this is adorable [: I always thought that there was an even bigger story behind those three's relationships, and I think you've captured it really well. Your style is great. Besides, it's very hard not to love a Lily and James and Snape story, but this is particularly good [:
Am I catching a Gilmore Girls reference with the whole wheelchair thing, or was that just me?
Author's Response: Thanks very much! Yes, you were catching a Gilmore Girl\'s reference ;) (I also happen to be Logan/Rory fan!)
The Phoenix of the Order: A Potterized Phantom of the Opera Soundtrack! by Schmerg_The_Impaler
Rated: 1st-2nd Years [Reviews - 68]
Summary: Having spoofed the lovely album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," I decided to do another one of my favourite albums: THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA SOUNDTRACK! And through Andrew Lloyd Webber's yummy songs, this spoof tells the story of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."
So here it is, guys! (And girls, and koalas, and lampreys, and shrubs and parameciums and stuff.)
This is more a spoof of the soundtrack than the actual play... though if anyone records themself singing any of these songs, I would fall over from sheer awesomeness attack.
Oh my god, this is absolute genious [: I love Phantom of the Opera, but these songs... -gigglesnort-
I am sorely tempted to actually record this, honestly... I found myself singing them out loud as I read! They're so witty and they match the real tunes very well! I can play them on my piano, and clarinet, too...
Author's Response: I would really love it if you recorded it! I\'d love to hear it! I\'m glad you liked it!
Summary: Anyone heard those rumours about a Harry Potter musical?
It better be just like this.
No, but seriously, it's a spoof of the songs from Disney channel's infamous "High School Musical," telling the tale of JK Rowling's infamous "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets." (I was dared; I took the challenge.)
You will never see the Basilisk the same way again.
P.S. You may also want to check out my Beatles and Phantom of the Opera spoofs. Just click on my username and it'll take you to my delightfully chaotic author's page.
Twice nominated for Best Poem in the Quicksilver Quills Awards!
Heh, once again, absolute genious [:
You should do Wicked, because I have those songs memorized by heart xD I love these musical spoofs!
Author's Response: Oh, thanks! I do want to do Wicked. I\'m just having trouble picking a topic to spoof (like a specific character or book).
Summary: When James makes a cocky boast that he knows Hogwarts so well he could make his way around it blindfolded, Lily unexpectedly takes his bet. Now, James has to spend twenty-four hours with a magical blindfold on, fumbling his way around the trickiest areas of the school. If he loses, he must publicly announce his failure, admit he’s not really as cool as he thinks he is, and give a large apology to Severus Snape. If he wins, however, he gains the adulated prize of giving one kiss to Lily Evans.
Suddenly, James is very keen for this bet to take place…
As for Lily… well, at first she thought it would be a grand idea to humiliate Potter, and was looking forward to his embarrassing debut. However, as any student who’s attended Hogwarts for longer than a few hours would know, Hogwarts just isn’t that safe… especially not when you’re blind, have a natural affinity for trouble, and your name is James Potter. Somehow, Lily’s been roped in for Potter-sitting, and it’s starting to look like a very, very long twenty-four hours.
This is great, highly entertaining [: You're a good writer. The dialogue is simply genius xD
Author's Response: Thanks very much! I\'m so glad you think so and what a lovely compliment! xx
Lord Voldemort: The Musical! (Les Miserables Potterized!) by Schmerg_The_Impaler
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 39]
Summary: Yet another musical twisted by yours truly, it's the tale of Voldemort's life set to the tune of my Les Miserables soundtrack!
The real musical of Les Miserables was created by Claude-Michel Schönberg, Herbert Kretzmer, and Alain Boublil.
There is some violence and it really is not a silly musical-- there are a few funny parts, but there are some pretty sad or intense bits. AND LOTS OF PEOPLE DIE. And there are some cannibalism-happy bits with Fenrir, including a whole song called "Man Eat Man." Beware.
I don't know how I never spotted this before! As a Self-Professed Les Miserables Addict (the book, too xD), I am ashamed of myself.
First off, I think the subject matter fits really well with this one - doesn't seem so forced as maybe some other of the spoofs.
Besides, life story? It matches up, lol!
I sung these out loud, which was slightly awkward, but it's 12:30 and hopefully no one heard [:
Your "I Dreamed A Dream" is classic. I will never, ever, ever forget that stunning originality, not to mention the rhetoric used. Absolutely beautiful! -wipes tears from eyes-
Voldy singing Gavroche's lines was, I must say, a little disturbing. Especially since the voice I sing those lines in actually works for them both! >.<
Green and Red had me aww-ing out loud for poor Severus ]: Very clever.
Act Two review is currently pending [:
Author's Response: I am glad that you liked this, because I wrote it when I first got introduced to Les Mis. So I only had the OBC on casette tape, and I barely knew anything about the show. I now know the entire musical by heart, so I'm slightly embarrassed by some of the awkwardness in this one. (And yeah, "I Dreamed A Dream" was kinda lame, I'm sorry about that.) The Green and Red one was probably my favourite in this act, though.
You broke acts wrong. It breaks after One Day More [: But pshh, just a technicality.
Please, I beg you, Eponine is not to be sung by anyone but Eponine! She wins too much to be anyone else >.< Especially James and Snape, and I mean, there’s nothing wrong with them, but I cannot sing like James and Snape and Voldemort can, really. Just Eponine xD So good job, there, Shmergo my dear, but ARGH I have to go sing the real songs now!
You did justice to my favourite song, though (On My Own, although it’s extremely closely followed by A Little Fall of Rain, except I have no one to duet with but myself xD and also Empty Chairs at Empty Tables – so as you can see, I can’t pick favourite songs). Voldemort soliloquy is always amazing, and it fit spectacularly well [:
D.A. Six/Neville as Gavroche is so much less disturbing than Volders, here!
I LOVE DUMBLEDORE-MARIUS. That was frankly awesome [:
Here’s to pretty girls I ate in their beds.
-- That might have made my day, there.
And poor Severus, missing Lily like that!
I really loved Empty Chairs. It actually ties in really well with both stories, and I can very much imagine things actually happening that way! So yeah, that was probably my favourite.
The way you tied in Peeves’s song at the end was remarkably clever – good job! – although I can’t seem to make it fit in with the original song, heh.
P.S. – The Tenth Anniversary Concert is my absolute favourite of most of them, too! I own a two-disk set of the Original London Cast, but I still get on Youtube to watch the concert versions [:
Author's Response: I know the Act break is wrong, but I wrote this when I barely knew anything about Les Mis and only had the tape-- and so I did this like Side One and Side Two of the tape. *Shrug*
That's funny, Eponine has never been a character I've been fond of. I guess it's just because I'm really different from her, and I've never really been all that fond of her songs. I've always liked Javert's songs the best. I guess that shows how different Les Mis fans can be. Glad you liked "Drink With Me"-- I had fun with it.
I like a lot of the performers on the OBC, too, but I LOOOOVE Michael Ball on the TAC soooooo much! And David Bryant on the OBC is icky! And I love getting to see everyone in their costumes. I also have the CSR, which is good because it has every little bit of the show, even if not all of the cast is perfect, and some parts of the Original London.
Summary: Seventeen-year-old Rose Weasley has always liked romance of the fairytale variety. She thinks she’s found her Prince Charming in Daniel Corner, the handsome Ravenclaw Seeker. But into her life enters Scorpius Malfoy, and it’s unclear whether he’ll be leaving it anytime soon. Suddenly it’s as if Rose is trapped in one of those devastatingly romantic soap operas her mother keeps telling her about… only that she’s not sure if it will have a happy ending… if she will have a happy ending.
Heh, I've always loved your style. This is a great exposition for what I'm sure is going to be an amazing story! The characters all have their own unique voices; I particularly love Al's "That's foreshadowing for you!" line [:
Author's Response: I\'m feeling slightly dizzy with gladness, due to the fact that you said that you\'ve always loved my style. I mean, wow! I feel so flattered! Thank you so much! :D
Summary: Harry and Ginny often spend time relaxing under the tree by the lake. So did their parents, and both couples leave their mark on the tree. The tree remembers, and protects them in its own way.
Pairings are James/Lily and Harry/Ginny
Oh, and the Character Death isn't any of the canon characters. Thought you ought to know! *faints*
This is an absolutely wonderful story [: Very poetic, and told from a great point of view. I'm having a rather hard time finding something to critique! Your word choices are excellent and flow together perfectly; this is probably my most favorite story on MNFF as of my reading it just now [:
Summary: This is book two in the "Potter's Pentagon" trilogy. Read "Potter's Pentagon: The Five" first, myesss? Cool.
WARNING: This story contains French people, an internal monologue about a blue orange, adolescent facial hair, good old-fashioned snogging, superstitious truck drivers, a portrait who calls everyone "Mavis," a zoo break-in, some very strange clothes, romantic conflict galore, and Ron Weasley's caffeine addiction. And worst of all, Professor Zabini!
Hogwarts is hosting the Triwizard Tournament, and when one of the members of Potter's Pentagon is selected to represent the school, much excitement ensues. Simultaneously, elections are being held for Minister of Magic, and things are getting busy at the Ministry.
Not to mention the fact that Jordan's made a new Muggle friend without informing her of the itty-bitty fact that he's magical, Haley has found an enchanted diary of dubious origin, Ted's met a werewolf from Beauxbatons, and Emma... well, Emma's not having a good year.
And what exactly is Ivy up to, anyway?
Everyone has secrets. But in the end, the truth will have to come out.
Starring Best Male Original Character runner-up Jordan Potter, Best Female Original Character Nominees Ivy Potter, Emma Weasley, Haley Potter, and Giorgi Anderson, and Best Male Original Character nominee Ted Lupin! Nominated for Best Post-Hogwarts story in the 2008 Quicksilver Quill Awards!
Mmkay, this is going to be, like, my catchphrase or something xD
Also, Team Sparkle is brilliant [:
I love this chapter. I'm waiting for it to be nothing going on, though, because I always am xD And then everybody gets in trouble.
Author's Response: VLAAAAAADISLAAAAAAV is a better catchphrase than, say, \"What the Niflheim.\" Or \"THIS. IS. SPARTAAAAA!\" or \"I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE! I DRINK IT UP!\" Or one of those puppies. I think you should go around calling people Vladislav for no apparent reason. ^_^ I just discovered that Vladislav is the full first name of MY NAMESAKE, Vlad the Impaler, so I\'m quite thrilled about that.
\r\nWhat, get in trouble? Gryffindors NEVER get in trouble!
Shmergo, you're evil.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.
Anyway, though, I'm still completely in love with your little universe [: Also, it's making me crack up about every other line.
-worships at feet-
I would write more, but I am completely brain-dead right now, and I haven't found anything major that I'm burning to commentate on [:
Anyway, awesome, awesome chapter!
Author's Response: Why, yes! Yes I am evil! And as you\'re worshiping at my feet, that makes you my minion! ^_^ So first I want a moccachino, and fast...
No, seriously, thanks very, very much. I\'m kind of in love with my little universe, too, sad as that is. Sometimes, I forget my characters aren\'t real people.
Summary: A puzzle box. A perfect, Fall day. And a friendship they thought would never end. Severus can remember it all so clearly, even years later, even after she was gone. But most importantly he remembers the colors: yellow, red, and white. Yellow for friendship. Red for love. And white...
White for silence.
Nominated in the 2008 QSQ for Best Dark/Angsty. SECOND PLACE WINNER OF THE NOVEMBER ONESHOT CHALLENGE.
I am thegirllikeme of Ravenclaw and this is my submission for the November Oneshot Challenge.
This is exceptional [: The emotion is great and very real, your writing +is superb. I love how the little details are what make it so good - it's excellent on its own, but with all the little subplot-type things, it's just taken to another level [: Amazing story, in general, you've done a great job with it.
Author's Response: Oh, thanks so much, Amanda. I\'m glad I managed to make the emotion real (it was a goal of mine, and if feels very good to know I managed to achieve it). Thanks so much for taking the time to read it. I love reviews, but reviews from my fellow \'Claws are extra special.
Summary: Before finding out he was a wizard, Christmas was just another day for the Dursleys to treat Harry like something that had been dumped on their doorstep. Then he hears a beautiful old story that stays with him through the difficult years that follow, and learns the true meaning of Christmas when he finally hears the bells ring.
Pre-Hogwarts and post-DH. Continues themes from 'The Letter.'
Completely canon compliant. Reviews welcome and all receive responses.
This is an amazing, touching story [: It's very well written and I think it eloquently expresses both the frustration of being without love and happiness, and the joy once one can find it. Good Job! -hands cookie-
Author's Response: Thanks for the cookie and the review. The story of the bells seems ideally suited to Harry Potter, and the gift of love that would make bells ring for him would, of course, be a family of his own. Have a wonderful holiday!
Summary: Rolf has never decorated for Christmas before, and Luna endeavours to show him how. But what does Rolf think when the decorations start talking to him?
Written by Pondering of Ravenclaw.
Ah, I loved this story! (And I'm reviewing it, which is not something I do often, so that's good!) I love how it's narrated from Rolf's point of view, which is unconventional, but I think you pulled it off well [: Especially since he's not quite, well, canon, per se.
I'm a little iffy on the Luna characterization, she seemed kind of... too carefree, not enough pensiveness, but that could just be my inner Luna scholar shining through xD And she may have changed, too, I guess. In any case, it's still an excellent fic!
Author's Response: Yeah, Luna\'s characterisation annoyed me here too, but she refused to be written any other way. So I let her be. She\'s not consoling anyone this time round, anyway. x)
Summary: Dumbledore has a very good idea. True, it may be termed as 'illegal,' but when it concerns the happiness and futures of two sixth-years, James Potter and Lily Evans, 'illegal' isn't really important, is it? His portraits agree.
And while it could be said that two inexperienced students should never be responsible for a mass construction project and the hosting of an international festival... well, the teachers of Hogwarts have never really paid attention to propreity, have they?
Ah, defenestration.... never gets old, does it? xD Even started a war, once.
I love this story, though. Answers a question I'm sure we'd all love answered! Love the unique perspective, too.
A continuation would be great. These different perspective stories are some of my favourites.
Really Wicked: Stephen Schwartz's Wicked Gone Potter by Schmerg_The_Impaler
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 79]
Summary: It's another spoof by Schmerg_The_Impaler!
This time, it's "Wicked," by Stephen Schwartz, remodeled to tell the story of Voldemort's life!
I also have spoofs of Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and High School Musical on my profile, if anyone would care to read.
You have no idea how long I have been waiting for this.... SO. LONG.
And it's so great [:
I tried to actually listen to the soundtrack as I read, but that backfired, because I read about ten times faster than they sing [: So I just sung myself [:
I love 'Apply Depravity!' So clever :D
Author's Response: Awwww! Thank you! I\'ve been waiting to post this for so long! I wrote it in October, and then lost my notebook. And I\'m verrry glad that it lived up to your expectations. Glad you liked \"Apply Depravity\"-- that one was the hardest for me to write. The others all came very naturally.
Summary: Every day Draco and Ginny take walks. Even though they are physically apart, those are the only times they share.
Gee, I've never really been the type to like D/G, but this was amazing [: The fact that you made it fully compliant, too, was a veritable feat!
The ending, with Astoria, and just after, is, I think, very powerful. Because Astoria knows that his heart doesn't really belong to her, despite the fact that he does love her - just in a different way. That's a powerful concept, and the fact that Astoria is okay with it is also very powerful [:
I need to find a new adjective xD
Good story, and good luck!
Question - if this is for the colour of love, is the colour orange? Or red, or whatever it is that Draco thinks Ginny's hair looks like.
Author's Response: Thanks so much, Amanda! *hugs* Yeah, I really loved writing Astoria in this, because I think any wife who was as noticeable as she was would be able to figure out Draco\'s daily walks were a bit more than they seemed. I\'ve had a Draco/Astoria plot bunny running around in my head for a while that I hope to write once school gets less hectic… and in that plot Draco would really love her, not just wish she were Ginny, hehe. Oh, and the colour is red-orange — the colour of fire, those tulips, and Ginny\'s hair.
What is a story without a scandal?
Underneath every burn hole on the tapestry of the Black family tree, there is a story, and underneath every story, there is a scandal.
In 1924, the Blacks were the most powerful family of the Wizarding World. They were greedy, back-stabbing, malicious, and power-hungry. And Cedrella was no exception. She was her father's favourite daughter; the pride of the Blacks, and it has earned her a conceited nature like no other.
But during her seventh year at Hogwarts, her life begins to become a little more clear, her family a little more conniving. She is arranged to wed the infamous Abraxus Malfoy and has people watching her every move to make sure she follows through. It makes it even more difficult when Septimus Weasley, a blood traitor and fellow classmate, starts to convince her, that for once in her life, she could have what she wanted.
A scandal forms between the two; a forbidden love between Black and Weasley behind the walls of Hogwarts. If they are found out, their lives will be ruined. But even under the opposition, what a Black wants...
a Black gets.
Okay, so, I personally think it looks a bazillion times nicer reading it on the website than over Yahoo [: xD
Yay! It's finally up! I'm so excited [: I can't wait for the rest. And I've probably told you all this before, but to reiterate:
Cedrella is the perfect Black, as has been said. She's characterised just the way she needs to be - and one of those people you just love to hate [:
I do hope she grows and changes over the story - well, she'd need to, but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless!
"And I came at eight with an expensive gift. Isn't that how this family works?"
Ah, I can't get over this line! I've read it probably 117 times - no kidding, I've opened the email up just to read this line - and it never loses it's appeal [: Pollux is a great character [:
I know how much trouble you had getting this validated, and let me just say, I'm glad you finally did [: It's going to popular, I can tell [: -gives cake and candles- Congrats, Violet! May this be the first of many new-chaper-parties to come [:
Summary: The final installment in the Potter’s Pentagon Trilogy. Read “The Five” and “The Truth” first, myess? Okay!
WARNING! Contains Muggle adventures in Diagon Alley, unusual eyebrows, cheesy clichés galore, psycho Ted, the not-so-lost years of Merlin, a school-wide singalong, the old potato joke, Tyrone’s Princess Bride obsession, Emma’s stubborn denial of the existence of Tyrone’s mustache, a graphic death, a joke shop product as a major plot device, hobo Jordan, Jordan hugging, Jordan pulling pranks, time travel, the Love Shack, angst, and worst of all, Professor Zabini.
It’s the sixth year for Potter’s Pentagon and company, and our heroes learn that in the wizarding world, coming of age has a somewhat weightier significance. Students are busy with an Inter-House Unity Project, Jordan is having weird dreams, Pansy and Ophidias Malfoy have been released from Azkaban, Professor Zabini has a mysterious project of his own, and almost everyone is acting strangely. Meanwhile, at the Ministry of Magic, a man with a vendetta against Ron Weasley is trying his hardest to get him in the biggest trouble possible. Is the only way to save him to travel into the past?
New talents are discovered, new friendships form and old ones change, pasts are dredged up, and, of course, there’s lots of good old-fashioned snogging. And one of the five kills for the first time… while another becomes a casualty of war.
Starring 2008 Quicksilver Quills Best Male Original Character runner-up Jordan Potter, Best Female Original Character nominees Ivy Potter, Haley Potter, Emma Weasley, and Giorgi Anderson, and Best Male Original Character nominee Ted Lupin! Nominated for 2008 Quicksilver Quills Best Post-Hogwarts Story.
So that’s why you mentioned bungee beans in chapter 2!
Tyrone’s t-shirt pwns all. As does the Princess Bride reference.
Author's Response: Meeehawhaaw! I am evil. And... I love making up t-shirts for Tyrone. I have a whole list stockpiled....
So all I could really think of while reading this -
-to tune of song from AVPM-
Winnipeg - THAT'S IN CANADA!
Author's Response: YAAAAAAAAAAY! YOU GOT THE REFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
