I am a thirtysomething mother of two, a boy and girl, both too young to read HP. I am obsessed with Harry Potter, especially anything to do with Severus Snape. However, my favorite author is Anne McCaffrey, and my favorite fictional character is Afra from McCaffrey's Tower and Hive series. Severus is a close second, though.

My favorite movie is The Abyss, but only the extended version. The original theatrical release made no sense.

I love reading HP fanfiction. I would like to write more myself, but alas, I have neither the time nor the patience. Maybe someday.

"There was another factor, but I wasn’t willing to tread there just yet."

I'm re-reading your story (skimming), and I just noticed this line. What is the other factor? Lily?

Author's Response: I looked through this chapter and couldn\'t find that line. Out of context, I can\'t answer the question. Where exactly did you find it?

Uh-oh, I've been reading your responses to others and notice that you keep menitoning that your story goes to the end of DH. One comment in particular caused me some concern, but I don't remember what it was. You haven't mentioned Fawkes in your story, and he's the most logical savior for our dear Severus. So I'm wondering how you're going to get Severus out of that old Shrieking Shack. You DO plan to rescue him, don't you? Don't you?

Okay, I'll stop pestering you for spoilers. But I really hope I'm not in for a tragic ending. I'll just hold onto this sliver of hope--you mentioned that you were considering a Part 4.

Keep up the good work.

Author's Response: I refuse to comment on the grounds that it may ruin the story... No, Fawkes is not mentioned. No particular reason...unless you\'re really willing to think about it...

Well, remember when I said I tend to forget to mention things and end up writing back-to-back reviews.

Thank you for the information regarding Lily's place in your story. I'm glad I wasn't forgetting something. I look forward to reading more about this subplot later.

Author's Response: Lily is only brought up in passing. She has no major role.

Uh-oh. If she has to look deep in her heart to know it's the right decision, I'm afraid my shallow heart might not like it.

I was on vacation last week and couldn't respond to your last chapter. Although this one was short, the presence of Severus more than makes up for it.

I saw some of the other comments; what is the "other site" they are referring to?

Is the story still 65 chapters? We still have a ways to go....

Author's Response: Yup, still 65 chapters long. I'm afraid it wouldn't be fair to this wonderful site to mention the "other" site, so it will be up to you if you're anxious to read ahead. Have faith. I'm sure you'll continue to enjoy it. Dani

Hmm, I can write a review of this chapter, but I can't read it yet.

Author's Response: That\'s because it hasn\'t been validated yet. Unfortunately, now that you have written something, I don\'t think the site will allow you to review it. It will say that you already did. Bummer. Validation usually takes about a week or so. Dani

This review showed up for chapter 1, so I copied and pasted it here. I'll try to remember to delete it there once I know this one posted.

Yay, it's not abandoned. I had just about given up on this story. But it was still on my Favorites, so I got the e-mail about the update. Now I'll have to go back to re-read the first part. But I liked this chapter. Bellatrix...what a nut. Poor Severus. I like the idea that Fawkes gets involved when the wrong password is used; a little crossover with the computer world.

Thanks for the update.

Author's Response: Thanks so much for the review. I've actually got most of the story done....I'm hoping to have it updated much more regularly. I'm so glad that you are enjoying it! Cheers!

1) “And you mean to say that someone of the likes of me could never be interested in the likes of you,”

2) “If you were the man I remembered, then I would be attracted to you, but who you have chosen to be breaks my heart.”

3) “Don’t worry,” he told her, clearing away the rest of her work with his wand, “I share your sentiment.”

He turned and left her standing there wondering what exactly he had meant.

Hmm, I assume #3 refers to either #1 or #2. Does he mean he agrees that someone like Violet could never be interested in someone like him? Or does he mean that what he has chosen to be breaks his heart? Or both?

Author's Response: You are correct in assuming it is more of a combination of both...and it is also meant to keep Violet questioning what he really means as well. I'm glad you are enjoying. In the end, it's 24 Chapters long and I'm trying to deal with some formatting issues to get the rest of them up. Thanks for your patience. Cheers!

Well-written story. As far as Disapparting out of Hogwarts-if Snape is a "wanted criminal," this story takes place an unspecified amount of time after HBP. Who's to say that things haven't changed? ; )

I DO like this pairing-a lot. And I like the sublety of your story.

I really like Severus and am always looking for stories about him. I have to confess that b/c of lack of time, I have only skimmed your story and read only the scenes with Severus in them (and the one with Dumbledore). So I don't really know what's going on, but I'll add it to my Favorites to read later.

I do want to respond to a comment you made to someone else. There is a list somewhere of the names of the 40 students Rowling created for Harry's class. I'm sure you're attached to your own names, but if you wanted, you could get to that list and use the real names of the characters who were never mentioned in the books. It is incomplete (especially those at the end of the alphabet), but it also includes their Houses and their blood status.

Anyway, I'm intrigued by your story. There is another story on Mugglenet in which Severus finds out he has a son, but it takes place in the future. It is interesting to see how you weave the original story into your own.

One quesiton: Was Shiloh really 2 months premature? My son was born at 32 weeks (2 months early), and he is a 3-year-old sweetie now. I am curious as to whether this element will take on more relevance in your story.

Author's Response: I\'m glad you find my story interesting, and I do hope you\'ll read more. Thanks very much for telling me about that. I\'m really am attached to most of my names, but I may take a look, just to see. However, it\'s much too late to change Shiloh\'s and Symone\'s names, and those are the names that I really like. Especially Shiloh\'s. And, yes, Shiloh is two months premature. It\'s nothing really relevant, just a small detail about her. Your son sounds adorable though, even though it is stressful when babies are born so early. I have a nephew who was born several weeks early, and I was too young to go into the ICU, so for the first month the only way I could see him was through a window. But, no, nothing really important. Just something I decided to add. Once again, I\'m glad you like it, and I look forward to your thoughts after you get the chance to look over it more closely.

I believe this is the third story of yours that I've read now, and I'm eager to read your DH-compliant Snape story, as well. (I am working on my own "Snape deserves a happy(er) ending" story.) I like your style, and your insight into the history of Lily and Severus was uncanny. I bet you fainted when you read DH.

I really liked your story. It is completely believable that Hermione would want to "save" Snape and that Snape would fall in love in spite of himself.

I have been escaping into fanfiction in an attempt to block out the epilogue from DH. It is amazing how much chemistry these two characters have. Good work.

(I could have done without the part about Snape working his way through the women of the Order, though. That part did seem OOC.)

The True Story of Luna Lovegood by gen_potter

Nice interpretation of "canon" events, although I don't like seeing Snape cast in a negative light. I kept waiting for him to do something redeeming. And I agree with the poster who said Lucius also does not really seem evil, just conceited and prejudiced.

Also, Luna is a year behind Harry, so she would have had Moody in her third year, not her fourth.

But I do want to echo what other reviewers have said: You have captured Luna's personality spot-on. Good work there.

Honoring Sacrifice by Gmariam

Rated: 1st-2nd Years • 14 Reviews
Summary: Harry Potter spent seven years hating Severus Snape. Oh, what a tease! So, is Severus still alive? Is that why Fawkes shows up? That's how it is in MY wishful thinking mind!

Author's Response: Thank you for the review! I wasn't thinking that Snape was still alive, but I could certainly see that being possible. A fellow writer likes to point out that he was a Potions Master, after all - why couldn't he have had an antidote with him? But in my story, he is not longer alive, and Fawkes is simply there to pay tribute to him. Thank you for reading this and leaving a review! ~Gina :)

Aftermath by cjbaggins

Reviewer: Sariana Signed
Date: 09/27/07 Title: Chapter 1: one-shot

Nope, no portrait, no body in the Great Hall, no death. After all, we KNOW who can cure snake bite wounds, and who has shown more LOYALTY to Dumbledore than Severus?

Oh, yeah, and there was no epilogue either.

Author's Response: Hi again. Totally agree with the loyalty point, no question there (you should see my password to get onto mnff!). But check out the interview with Ms Rowling herself that should be archived on MuggleNet. She gave it just after DH\'s release and in it clearly stated that she believes Harry would be instrumental in getting Snape\'s portrait up in the headmaster\'s office. If there would be a portrait, he would have to be dead. And I figure she should know... Sorry ... Not sure what you meant by \'no epilogue either\'...
