I would have volunteered to be a beta, but I have never done it before so I don't know how and would probably be bad at it.

However, if anyone needs anything translated to or from Latin for their fic, I am available to help, having taken Latin for seven years.

The Unseemly Proposal by sparx

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: The reign of Voldermort comes to an end, and with it ends the prestige and power Lucius Malfoy once had in the Wizarding World. In order to regain the respect of his fellow wizards and to make them believe that he has turned over a new leaf (which he actually hasn't) and has graciously accepted muggles and Mudbloods, Lucius asks Hermione, a Mudblood, to marry his son, Draco, a pure-blood. Obviously, they both refuse, but Lucius isn't going to give up easily. After all, he wants his status back. He still has a few tricks up his sleeve and is determined to play match-maker. What happens next is a series of events that serve only to bring Hermione and Draco closer, both literally and figuratively speaking. Read to find out how this one unseemly proposal causes absolute chaos in their lives! THIS STORY IS NOT HBP and DH COMPATIBLE! Hey all! Check out my personal info for the expected date of the next update. =)

“Something happened”? What happened??!! Is it the love-knot coming off? Or something else?? I really hope you don’t take too long to update this time, because that was just cruel, especially after you have them fight and say that they hate each other! Poor Hermione. I can’t believe Draco let Pansy get to him and treated Hermione so badly… but I can really, because he is very proud, and probably also afraid to admit that he feels anything for her, so it’s easier for him to push her away. Honestly I’m not all that surprised, but of course I do hope they don’t keep hating each other very long! Anyways, great chapter, despite the developments in their relationship being very sad, and don’t forget to update soon!

Oh my gosh yay! I was so excited to see that my very favorite story has (finally) been updated! And we didn't have to wait a month for it to be validated this time either. Yay. Anyway, the chapter is amazing as always. nice to see Jinx back, though not for long - looks like someone is afraid of letting her feelings be known. And I just love the part at the end where they plan their life together, without realizing what they're doing; it's amusing how they switch from talking about "Avia and Zarek" to talking about themselves. And then what Draco says about choosing her... it's so sweet and romantic... *sigh* I just love this story so much...

OMG, does Pansy have the missing pages from the book about the love-knot?? Now that's interesting... and it sounds like it says something about how to get rid of it (the love-knot I mean)! What are Pansy and Harry and Ron going to do? Ugh, I'm in so much suspense here!

*And* Hermione and Draco kissed again (without being drunk)! What an exciting chapter this was... I can't wait to find out what happens between them in the aftermath. Will Hermione still be mad at Draco? After all, it wasn't like she was mad about something trivial this time. It seems like Draco hasn't really realized he was wrong about the whole blood thing yet. By the bye, I can't believe he was so stupid as not to realize what he had said that had upset her! He really is clueless.

Anyway, thank you so much for updating! It didn't even take very long this time! I'm really excited for the next chapter; hope you update quickly again!

Why did I wait so long to read the latest chapter of one of my favorite stories of all time?? Especially since it turns out to be such a significant chapter, in which Draco and Hermione make so much progress? I can’t believe Hermione finally admitted her feelings! I wonder how Ginny’s going to react to that letter! And I wonder if Draco will admit his feelings soon too – somehow I can’t picture him writing a letter to a friend so I’m not quite sure how he would go about it…

I really think this is possibly the most romantic story I’ve ever read, inside or outside of fanfiction. So many moments which give me warm fuzzy feelings. It’s so great to see how Draco has changed from the beginning of the story, to the point that he is able to apologize, and to defend Hermione when Pansy calls her Mudblood (though in a completely gradual, seamless, believable way, without losing his Draco-ness). And it’s sweet to see how Hermione feels safe when he holds her, and cute when Draco teases her after asking the portraits to give them time alone. I just love this story so much. I can’t wait for the next chapter, especially if we’re going to find out more about Pansy, Harry and Ron’s plan! I still think that Pansy has the missing pages of the book! Update again soon!!

Oh, I almost forgot to say that this part made me laugh: “Then I did what any sane, logical person would do in a situation like this-- I went to the library, borrow a whole lot of books and did some research.” – yeah, that’s what everyone does when they think they’re starting to have feelings for someone… Though, I think Hermione has more in common with Draco than she thinks… Anyway. I’m just rambling now. Looking forward to the next update!!!

My Name is Draco Malfoy... I Think by mooncalf

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: The whole wizarding world is in uproar after the death of Dumbledore. All Death Eaters have a price on their heads. And how can she deal with a Malfoy who regards her as his best friend... or maybe more?

I went back to see what you had changed in the first chapter, and ended up reading the whole story again... I had forgotten a lot of stuff. Anyway, I really like the story; the idea behind it is very original and it's very intriguing to think that what Draco's like without his memory might be his natural personality. It'll be very interesting when he gets his memory back!

About this chapter - yes, something finally happens between Hermione and Draco! And then, what a cliffhanger! What does the French mean at the end (or are we not supposed to know?) Looking forward to the next chapter!

Author's Response: Thank you very much! The French at the end... well, if you know it or look it up, it\'ll give you a hint for the next chapter, but Hermione will explain it anyway.

I'm very sorry to hear that you're not going to be continuing this because of disagreements with the moderators. I don't think Draco is OOC or anything (at least not more than in any DHr fic). Well, the story is very intriguing so far and I enjoyed the first three chapters a lot. Left me wanting to read more *sigh*

I read this and a few others in the series ages ago when I first found this site. All your oneshots are good, but for some reason this is my favorite. I think it's one of the stories that made me fall in love with DHr. You have Hermione and Draco just right here, in my opinion. Love their banter, and the way they keep altering the story when they’re telling it to each other. Fun reading about the “I Never” game too. This is going on my favorites list. Thank you for writing.

Author's Response: I\'m flattered that you like my one shots, and I\'m glad you\'ve found a favourite among them. This isn\'t the deepest Hermione/Draco story I\'ve written, but I still like it, so I\'m pleased to hear you enjoyed it too. Thank you for the kind review, Gwinna.

I've already reviewed this story on fanfiction.net, but such a great story can never have too many reviews. And I wanted to ask, did you draw those pictures on your profile page yourself? Because if you did, I'm even more impressed at how talented you are than I already was (and believe me, I am very impressed that you can write such an excellent story in a language that isn't even your native language). Also, congratualtions on winning all those QQ awards! I think you won more than any other author. And you totally deserve them!

Author's Response: Yes, I did draw the pictures on my profile page :). Thanks for the compliments! I\'ve won one Award and was runner-up for a second (and a third, but this particular story was replaced by another one at the last minute), so yeah, I was really excited about those at the time. Thank you again for the nice review.

I really like this; actually it's probably one of my favorite poems I've read on this site (even though I normally hate Severus/Narcissa). I don't really know what to say about it as poetry except that it sounded good to me, but I also really like the insight into the characters. Good job!

Author's Response: Thanks. I\'m glad you liked it. I must admit that I\'ve had problems with SS/NM until I realized that you really can\'t help who you fall for, and since I picture it as unrequited and more importantly unacknowledged, it works well. Sorry to diregress. Thanks again for your kind words!

Very interesting story, the kind that makes you think. I like seeing someone question Hermione’s value system for once, since I do think she can be somewhat self-righteous and hypocritical. Not that I dislike Hermione or anything, but we all have our flaws. For example, I don’t think she was right in leaving the clothes she knitted in the Gryffindor common room in order to trick the house elves into getting their freedom. If she’s forcing them to become free, then they’re not really free, are they? They still have no say in their own lives. And since she’s done some morally questionable things herself, she really has no right to pass judgment on others (not that anyone has that right, imo).

I have to say that I didn’t quite understand the ending until you explained it in one of your review replies. As a DHr shipper, I appreciate that aspect of the story as well. :) Anyway, you’ve done an excellent job with this!

Very interesting idea for a story, definitely different from anything else I've read... Though, if I were Draco, I wouldn't have trusted Hermione's potions advice - she might have been giving him wrong instructions on purpose to make him ruin his potion... Well, looking forward to finding out what happens next.

It's Not a Love Potion by Skipper424

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: This one-shot was originally written for a Hufflepuff House Valentine's Day Challenge. Specifically, it was written for the “Surprise Date” prompt, in which two canon characters had to end up together because their friends/dates left without them. I picked the pairing I did intentionally because it goes against the popular grain just a bit. To me, you can’t get much more of a surprise date than this one.

As always, I want to thank joybelle423 for beta-reading. She does a truly outstanding job!

Reviewer: Gwinna Signed
Date: 02/25/07 Title: Chapter 1: It's Not a Love Potion

Hey, I really like this. Though I don't think Severus/Lily is really *that* unusual of a pairing; it's one of my favorites actually. And it’s nice to see a good story about them that’s just cute and happy because most of the good ones that I've seen are angsty.

So anyway I think you did a great job with the characterization of both Severus and Lily. One criticism I suppose is that I can't imagine James standing Lily up considering all the trouble he takes to get her to go out with him. Also Severus is later on notorious for being able to deceive people so he would be able to look Lily in the eye and tell her he doesn’t like her, but I suppose he might not have that skill at this age, so that isn’t a criticism, just something interesting I noticed.

Overall I enjoyed it, so good job!

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review and you have very good points on your criticisms. You know, I just sort of slapped this thing together much faster then I normally do with other stuff I write. So, in all honesty, I didn\'t put a ton of thought behind it. I just wanted to keep them in character and if I could come up with a plausible scenario where they would get together.

Even if you are a master of deception, I would argue that there is something a bit different about deceiving someone you have a crush on. And, yes, Snape is only a fledgling of his devious self here in this story.

James on the other hand. I think it isn\'t that much of a stretch to picture the four marauders of getting into some kind of trouble on one of their adventures that would cause James to miss a date. I never say in here James missed the date willingly, right?

Still, all of your points are well taken. Thank you for the review! I appreciate it
