Silver haired (blond turned to gray actually) 60+ year old sad old man who loves HP Fanfics. Now very close to 70...
I said a few chapters back that there were a lot of possibilities for this story. Few! That was an understatement. There are an awful lot of things going on here and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
Author's Response: Thank you so much for the kind words. I would be thrilled to know which story threads particularly interest you. I promise you two things. First, I aim to write a story that's actually worth the investment of time to read (i.e. not just a simple ho-hum Hollywood storyline where plot threads are obvious, cliched and predictable). And second, I promise to answer plot questions through the course of the story. There will be certain philosophical themes that may not be given a direct answer because the point is to get the reader thinking, not for me to give my particular view of ethics or the universe. But anything character or plot related, however nebulous the story becomes, I promise to answer. Knowing which questions are on your mind by the reviews you post will help me to be sure to follow up on your particular interests. Thank you again for your time and thoughtful comments.
We now have an idea where Harry has got to and why. I am a bit lost as to what happened at the end of the last chapter. Where will Draco turn up next. Why is Neville important? All magic story telling.
Author's Response: I'm glad you are enjoying. Some of this is meant to be confusing, but to clarify, Harry is at the mercy of Soran, who believes Harry still possesses the ability to speak Parseltongue. Torture, both mental and physical, is part of Soran's plan to make Harry magically part with that talent.
Go get 'em, Hermione.
You have slightly confused me with this chapter. Am I right in thinking this is before chapter three? Without reading the whole thing again, I am not sure of the time line.
It was very exciting to read, but we now have one more twist in the plot.
Very complex. Unmissable.
There is a lot of possibilities to this story. I look forward to more.
Author's Response: Thank you! More is definitely on the way! Stay tuned!
More food for thought.
Some interesting history here, but meanwhile, back with Draco?
Good to read another chapter.
I am left gasping for breath.
Daphne Greengrass had until her twenty-first birthday to pick a husband, or her parents would choose one for her. With only months to go before the deadline, she found herself with a perfect suitor in Theodore Nott.
But when a freak pregnancy landed her in the care of cranky Healer-in-Training Michael Corner, Daphne started to realise that things she thought she knew were slowly being turned upside-down. And what she thought she knew about Michael Corner began to dissolve into something different entirely.
This story has been nominated for two 2012 Quicksilver Quill Awards: Best Non-Canon Romance and Best Post-Hogwarts Story.
This story has also been nominated for a 2013 Quicksilver Quill Award: Best Post-Hogwarts Story.
This story just gets more gripping.
I'm glad you think so. It's hard to know whether something is exciting on the page to someone else when it's already happened in your head and hence has no suspense. Thanks for checking in!
This would not normally be my sort of story, but in this case I was just sucked in. Well written and original.
Would you believe I get that a lot? My author page is covered in stories with reviews prefaced with 'this isn't the type of thing I normally read, but...'. I take it as a compliment, so thank you for that.
I'm glad you find it original. It's hard to write stories that people haven't read before in some other fashion. I hope the rest of the story continues to be a pleasant surprise. Thank you for the read and review. :)
I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter. Or at least I think so, hehe. Thanks for dropping in!
That was a powerful chapter. The dialogue was brilliant.
I'm glad you like it. The beginning of the story was a fair bit lighter and fluffier than the latter half, so be prepared for some turning of the screw! Thanks for stopping in. :)
Good update. I am liking this story more and more. Your characters are very real.I have just checked out your other stories and what a wealth of stuff to go at.
Welcome back! I'm glad you're enjoying the story thus far and that it's getting better as it goes along. The beginning moved a bit slow because of the amount of character introduction I needed, but I think it paid off.
Anyway, thanks for the support, and watch for an update in a few days!
That was not the ending I was expecting.
Well, strictly speaking, there are still three more chapters, so it's not the end. However, that you weren't expecting it? Goody. >:)
Daphne definitely has some shenanigans to sort out. Wish her luck! Update on the second, because it's a fine day to update!
This is such a great story with "real" characters who are less than perfect but are the result of their up bringing. Please let us know about what happens to Rose. Good writing.
Screwed up characters are like crack to me, so most of mine end up being earthy people with problems and angst. It may be why Post-Hogwarts fics tend to be my niche, because there are lots of problems with coping there. I'm glad they feel real to you. :)
And as for Rose...her story does have a resolution. Stay tuned, and thank you for reading!
Good ending. I am now going to attack your other stuff.
Attack away...there's plenty there, hehe. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for following along. :)
I read the first chapter of this story some time ago and then found it again yesterday. The quality of the writing is first class, but I am afraid I find your Hermione a bit wimpy. Still need to follow it now to find out what really happened to Draco.
