Just Like Him by SecretKeeper
Rated: 1st-2nd Years [Reviews - 36]

Summary: ONE-SHOT. Minor fluff warning. There was just no way around it. Whether it was necessary or not, heroic or not, there was simply no escaping the fact of his actions. He had killed. And he made me just like himÖ Harry thought miserably.

Every time I read this story it takes my breath away. You took a very heavy subject and made it an absolutely beautiful moment...this is definately one of my favorite H/Hr fics!

The Upside of Being Down by Kimberley
Rated: Professors [Reviews - 506]

Summary: *COMPLETED!*What happens when you put a hopelessly "romantic" man-hussy and a girl with a soft spot for bedtime activities (not THOSE activities, silly!) together in a dark bedroom? Well, I don't happen to know either, so I suppose we'll find out together, won't we? Come with me, Tia C. Spencer, on a lovely ride through the countryside... er, lakeside... okay, so we won't actually be riding NEXT to anything, but it will be lovely, I promise you that. How can it not be, with me as your illustrious (and quite possibly mad) companion?

And no, contrary to beliefs very likely impressed upon you by this summary, I'm not a gormless prat.

Well... not entirely.

I know this is a completely random place to review the entire story (well, up until this point, at least), but I felt like I had to pause and commend you on your work before I moved on. And yes, it is quite late where I am, so please excuse any misspellings that may occur...:)

Tia is such a fun character! I love her personality and the way that she interacts with the marauders. She is definately a part of the group, but stands on her own as well...she is very much her own person with her own agenda, which I find refreshing because you made her a very 3D character.

I love how you balence her boldness and strength ( which could be considered a negative trait because she carries everything to such extremes) with compassion and a mischevious nature. If she had any of these traits without the other, her voice and the flow of the story itself would be lost. Perhaps my favorite aspect of her personality, however, (and not just because I'm a hopeless romantic), is her vulnerabiltiy (sorry about the spelling!) when it comes to her feelings for Sirius. Yes, she is experienced in relaitonships, but by showing her softer side, you round out her character nicely and make her much more true to life.

Aubrey, also, is a character that I love. Her timidity and desire to please make her a bit of an enigma, but her genuine innocence and trust make my heart go out to her. I also love that she is beginning to come out of her shell!

Anyway, I'm sorry this is so long. Congradulations on your QQ award! I'm going to go finish the story now!

Avenged Sevenfold by SecretKeeper
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 363]

Summary: Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

UPDATE: Guys, I'm back!

The innocence Iíve lost
The blood it's cost
Leaves unhealed scars within.
But I will not abate,
I will employ the hate
That has been planted deep inside.
I will not falter
Valor will not tire,
And I will survive
This trial by fire.

Many things are different now. Potions class is the least of the trio's worries. Battling dragons would be a welcome alternative to what it is they're attempting to battle now. The Order of the Phoenix is hallow without its leading member. And when someone close to Harry is stolen, Dumbledore's rhetoric of love, hope, and faith is challenged. Harry's strength and resolve are pushed to their limits. Loyalties are tested and new leaders emerge while Harry and Hermione struggle to balance new emotions and uncharted territory. Yet while this time after sixth year proves to be drastically unlike anything Harry's ever experienced, some truths remain, and some affections stand solid.

A novel-type story that explores the engimas of Snape, Horcruxes, war, and above all, the puzzle of love. HBP compliant. HHr.

I'm so glad you're back! I absolutely love this story and reading this chapter reminded me exactly why I fell in love with it. Your characterization and description are so wonderful...I love the honesty you continually use when portreying the characters' emotions (especially with Harry and Hermione).

At the risk of sounding redundant, let me say how much I loved the photo album (although I wish Harry had kissed her!). It was beautifully written. The "extra" moments with Sirius and Hagrid were perfect.

Thank you for such a beautiful chapter! I can't wait to see what happens next!

Flying Without Wings by Astrid Skywalker
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 21]

Summary: The final war had lasted for several years, but has at last ended. The Dark Lord has been vanquished, and peace has once again been restored to the wizarding world. Harry Potter wakes in a closed ward at St. Mungo's, weak and gravely injured. His life is dangling off a thin line, but he finds strength in an old friend, and a rekindled love that has been put on hold during the age of chaos. One-shot, romangst.

I just wanted to let you know that I absolutely loved this story! I am a big fan of H/Hr, which I know is not popular around here at all, but I applaud you on a great effort in spite of what others say.

Your story is also one of the few romangstys that I have found and really enjoyed, as I normally dislike huge amounts of angst in one shots. However, you handled the situation and material brilliantly and the emotions your characters were feeling were believeable, and, dare I say, natural considering what they were going through.

All in all a great job! I can't wait to read more of your stuff!

Let me just begin by saying that I am so jealous of your characterization in this one-shot. I can never write Luna realistically enough in my own stories, so the way you've captured her in this story is absolutely amazing to me.

I havenít seen him much since Professor Slughornís party. I had a nice time; it was quite the best party I had ever gone to.

This was kind of bittersweet for me. It brings out a bit of Luna's innocence and her consistently cheery perspective, which seems so believable based on what we've seen of her in the books, but it is a bit ironic that she enjoyed it so much when Harry absolutely hated it. She obviously doesn't get invited many places...

I donít really understand the rules of Quidditch, but I find the matches quite enjoyable.

This made me laugh out loud. It perfectly illustrates one of the things I love about Luna, which is how she could care less about what others think of her. She concentrates on enjoying herself and nothing else really matters.

If I had to make one critique, it would be that this should have been a bit longer. You have such a wonderful grasp of Luna's character that I would love to see you place her in a few more challenging situations. Also, there were a few comma splices toward the beginning of the work. Overall, however, this is a wonderful example of a character-driven one-shot, and I can't wait to see what else you do with Luna in your future work!

Curves by Vindictus Viridian

Summary: Lily returns to Hogwarts at the beginning of her sixth year and discovers how inconvenient it is to be sixteen, pretty, and Muggleborn.

This story is captured the awkwardness of sixteen so well, and I absolutely love that Lily wasn't portrayed as this perfect person. I love her character, but I always enjoy characters that are slightly more flawed.

Also, your characterization of Slughorn was great. I can absolutely see him eyeing his more beautiful students, creep that he is.

Anyway, wonderful job! Please write another chapter!

Author's Response: Thanks! I\'m always a little surprised that so many people found Slughorn just a tad creepy. His interest in Lily, or at least in Lily\'s memory, did seem a bit obsessive to me. And Lily herself, well, everyone becomes more saintly when remembered; NOBODY could be as good as everyone tells Harry she was. Especially as a teenager -- it\'s just too hard to be one. If you like this Lily, she has a starring role in \"In The Eyes Of Others,\" \"Curse of the Toad,\" and of course \"Happy Birthday, Lily Evans.\"

Summary: "Some mistakes are too much fun to make just once."

After Lily Evans, Head Girl of Hogwarts, starts a food-fight with James Potter, Head Boy of Hogwarts, they are both given detention for the rest of the year, and are assigned a 'detention journal', which the staff say will help to settle their 'overwhelming and disturbing differences'. We have come across Lily's journal; her take on why the whole affair ever started, her intriguing relationship with one ‘supreme git of the galaxy’, the extents to which she will go for revenge and where it will lead her...

"And if for some unknown reason you come across this, Potter, and the paragraph above does not manage to penetrate your unusually thick head and convince you of my stupendous dislike of you, I hope the following sentence helps: I HATE YOU!"

This story is so cute!!! I love the way you've made Lily so different from her sterotypical (sorry about the spelling!!) self. It's nice to imagine her as slightly flawed and a bit more human. It also makes her a much more plausible match for James...after all, there is no way that one of the marauders could fall for a complete goody-two-shoes.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling now, but please update soon. This fic completely made my day!!

Author's Response: I\'m so happy you like it! And I hope you\'ll be able to read the next chapter soon. By the way, I completely agree. Lily has to have an attitude!

The Wedding Ring by KASK

Aww...this story was soo beautiful!! I absolutlly loved it! I'm a huge James/Lily fan, so the beginning was tough, but the fact that thier marriage wasn't "happily ever after" is part of what makes this so great.

You totallly deserve first place! Congradulations!!

Author's Response: Thank you!!

Hey! I just wanted to stop in and say how much I enjoyed your story. I'm not normally a big Ron/Hermione fan for whatever reason, but I thought that this one-shot was really beautiful. I love how you focused on the real feeling and emotion between the two rather than trying to tie in humorous banter or something. It made the story so much more real and adult and I really enjoyed it (even if you did kill one of my favorite characters...:))

Anyway, I'm off to write my own one-shot before Prof. Roxy closes the assignment. Hopefully it will be somewhere near as good as yours!!

Author's Response: Oh. My. Gosh. I just had an purely awful day, and I am now actually smiling. I would like to thank you IMMENSELY for this wonderful review. I\'m so glad that you think that the feeling and emotion was real. I felt pleasantly good about this story, but after a few days went by with no reviews, I was a tad worried. I am SO glad that you liked it. Thanks! ~Lindsey :)
