I'm a huge fanfic addict. Although I am more of a reader than a writer, since the only story I once started has never been finished, I check Mugglenet occasionally now and try to write reviews.

The Happy Couple by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Romilda Vane is a young reporter for The Daily Prophet. Currently writing a popular column for the Social pages, she is outraged when the highlight of the social calender - the wedding of Harry James Potter to Ginevra Molly Weasley - is given to Lavender Brown to write.

Lavender isn't happy either, for their boss (He-Who-Pays-Our-Wages) has threatened to assign her to the Cookery section unless she dishes the dirt on her friends. She readily agrees to Romilda taking on the assignment for what could the Saviour of the Wizarding World possibly have to hide?

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this is my entry for The Weddings Challenge in The Great Hall. I chose prompt 3 - The Daily Prophet Report.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling, but I think you all know that.

Thank you very much to Samarie (Hopeful_Song) for beta'ing this story for me, and giving me some excellent advice.

The Sexual Sitiuations are really very mild, and merely implied.

The way that you reveal information carefully and leave doubt in the reader's mind about what actually happened is done really well. I also like Lavender Brown as a sympathetic character. However, I'm in general not a fan of the idea of Ginny cheating on Harry. But well written!

Author's Response: Thank you for the review. Hmm, maybe she didn't exactly cheat, but sometimes things happen that shouldn't. Perhaps I need to write a separate story explaining - ha ha. Concerning Lavender, she's one of my favourite characters because she gets such a bad deal from fanfiction, so I have a whole chaptered fic devoted to her in her seventh year at Hogwarts. Anyway, I digress. Thank you again ~Carole~

All My Life by Secret

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: When Lily and James are both awarded the Head Boy and Head Girl position, they are forced to get along for the sake of their school. Unfortunately, neither Lily nor James are willing to let their guard down. What results is a story that is so passionately tumultuous, neither one of them ever realizes that they have not only crossed the thin line between love and hate...but they are now dancing in its depths.

As the entire magical world battles the oncoming threat of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, Lily and James will have to learn that the only way to defeat the darkness is to find the light...in themselves.

I really appreciate the work that you have put into this story. It shows, because your story is well-edited and interesting. I thought it was weird that Lily was so shocked about Snape. Keep it up!

Shrouds by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Not all Voldemort’s victims were on the side of right.

Over a year has passed since the Battle of Hogwarts. Families grieve, but their dead are remembered with honour.

For Draco Malfoy it has been a year of nothing. Merely existing, he is bound tightly to his past as if enveloped in a shroud, unwilling to accept help. It takes a chance encounter on a cobbled street to jerk him into the realisation that he cannot go on like this. A chance encounter with the one person who has most cause to hate him.

But shrouds, however tightly bound, unravel.

A huge thank you to Natalie (hestiajones) who put her laminated canon card in jeopardy by beta'ing this fic and being very supportive all the way through.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling. Her lawyers agree, so please don't mistake us. I just like taking the odd liberty (ahem) with her characters (and pairings)

Nominated for two QSQ's in Best Non-Canon Romance and also Best Post Hogwarts story for 2011. Thank you.

I'd never thought that I'd feel sorry for Draco or read Draco/Hermione, and you convinced me to do both! Great job. I like how you have Hermione admit that she fudges the truth for the sake of the quest and her love of Ron.

Author's Response: Thank you very much. I'm pretty much a canon type of girl, but this bunny nagged at me and I wanted a redemption - of sorts- for Draco. I'm glad you appreciated that Hermione does occasionally lie (or blur the truth - ha ha) Thanks again ~Carole~

Stars Apart by Willow Rosenberg

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •

Remus frets about post-Hogwarts life while Peter drifts even further from his friends. But when Sirius discovers a group of fourth-years who are bound and determined to steal the Marauders’ title of Greatest Hogwarts Troublemakers he wages war, rallying his friends so they can maintain their legacy. Meanwhile, outside the castle grounds, Voldemort is gathering supporters in unending preparation for a much darker battle…

I am so happy right now. Thank you for finally resolving their romantic tension. While I thought it was quite trying to wait so long, I think the build up has improved the epic-ness of success. I was sad to see that you have James fearing Voldemort's name, but I suppose it makes him more realistic than Mr. Brave Gryffindor that he normally is fanfics. Are you hinting that Peter was already reporting to Voldemort? I had thought it was later on, after Hogwarts. Anyway, keep updating!! :)

Author's Response: haha i think he'll get used to it eventually ;) he's still brave! just human. and nah peter's not doing it don't worry. but i think maybe it's the first time he's starting to realize that somebody could. thanks so much for reading/waiting!!

Triad by TheDeepEnd

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: He was so close now that Ginny could finally smell the firewhiskey on his breath. If the situation had been different, this would have been intoxicating to her. But this was her worst nightmare come true and there was no denying it. She was simply afraid of him now.

Wow, I really liked this! I'm normally a huge fan of canon stories, but I'm starting to step out of line... I liked how you balanced the conflict. Draco acted horribly, but he felt contrite in the morning. He didn't abandon her when he found out she was pregnant.

Also, I liked how I was on edge throughout the entire story--I never knew exactly what would happen. I'd be interested in reading more like this in the future.

Author's Response: Thanks very much. I actually have a hard time posting on this site so I'm surprised this was even accepted. I can email you my Fanfiction.net account page so you can read my other stories there.

For a first story, this is pretty good. Everything is nicely cannon (which I like). I think I spotted one spelling mistake: "She could remember every time someone had picked on him, and all the time she had stuck up for him" Should it be times? It can work the way you have it, but it sounds a little awkward. Keep writing, and I would suggest that you especially work on innovations to the standard Lily/James ficlet. :)

Author's Response: Thanks so much! And I'm sorry I missed that, thanks for pointing it out! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

A Touch Too Much by MerrryD

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Hate. Anger. Happiness. Rage. Love. Contentment. Understanding. Emptiness. Loneliness. Jealousy. Despair. Numb. Cheerful.

Every day Lily Evans felt everything. She was on an emotional roller coaster full of heart-plummeting drops, stomach-losing loops, and nerve-racking climbs. How she managed to keep herself together she never quite understood.

One day, it all becomes too much and everything comes undone.

A nice beginning. Although, fyi, the Berlin Wall fell in 1989 and Lily supposedly died in 1981. I would understand if you don't accept that timeline, though.

Author's Response: Erm, that's a bit embarrassing. >.> Thanks for pointing that out! I changed it so now it's a bit more of a Potterverse metaphor that I like better. :) Thanks for reading! <3Mere

I like the way you have built suspense; you're almost too good, since now I'm unhappy that I have to wait for another installment. I think it's interesting to envision the Potters as a sort of celeb or royal family that needs so much privacy. :)

Author's Response: I love cliffhangers for that very reason. The Potters simply want to live a normal life, which isnt easy. -N-

Somehow, your story has managed to pass me by until today. I really like it. Little tidbits from non-canon POV are so refreshing. I like how poor Jacqui was gotten herself into an awkward muddle; it's quite realistic. I also like the portrait you've painted of the young Potters. Please keep writing!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I intend to write most (though probably not all) of this story from Jacquis perspective. The Muggle outsider is a great viewpoint, as readers know a lot more than she does. -N-

Everything seems good. There's so much overpoliteness, but I suppose that's natural for new acquaintances.

Another great chapter--keep posting! Every time I see that you've posted a different story, I wish it were a new chapter of this one!!

Author's Response: This takes place at the end of James first week at school; overpoliteness is to be expected as the families get to know each other.
I really must finish Aurors and Schoolgirls, that story (and this one) should be my priority, but I couldnt resist the Mysterious May Challenges. Lavender is constantly pestering me to write about her, too.

Remembering Lily by Gmariam

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: A lonely figure walks down the street, long auburn hair trailing behind her in the blustery wind. She pulls a red wool coat snug around her, gloved hands tucked into pockets as she wanders the sidewalk, glancing up at the shop fronts. She is young, but her face is lined with sadness, as if searching for something she has lost. Her green eyes long for answers.

Across the way a young man stops and stares at the woman in the red coat, hardly daring to believe it might be her. And yet as she turns and walks back up the street, he knows it is, and his heart stops beating for a moment. He blinks, just to see if she will disappear from his life once more, like she did over a year ago.

She doesn't.

Oh my gosh! when I go tot he part about how Lily disappeared right before Christmas 7th year and then couldn't remember anything about the wizarding world, my heart went out to James. I was appropriately surprised, so I think your story was written very well. It's different than the average James Lily fic. Good job, and keep updating! :)

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I like hearing that you were surprised, since these two can be rather predictable at times, and I'm thrilled you found this to be different but still enjoyed it. Thank you so much for reading and leaving a lovely review! I hope you enjoy the rest! ~Gina :)

The Phoenix Or The Flame by GinnyRULES

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Several years after the final battle, Dudley Dursley is struggling to come to terms with his past and the things he has done wrong. His life is turned upside down when he meets a charming young witch and is drawn into a path that leads him back into his cousin's world.

I found this installment quite amusing. I suppose the wizards are so bad at connecting calls because they're unused to telephones? Anyway, I look forward to the next chapter. I'm sure the elder Dursleys will freak out about Hermione on the front stoop.

Author's Response: Oh, you know Hermione though. She always has some trick up her sleeve. Lol thanks for reviewing, I look forward to seeing what everyone will think of Hermione and Dudley's interactions. Thanks again! :)

Watching From A Distance by Gmariam

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: Scorpius Malfoy is celebrating the end of seventh year when he runs into a former girlfriend. She brings him over to the Gryffindor table, where he finally interacts with someone he's been watching for a while, someone he thinks about far too often. Their interaction and future plans give him hope, but the night ends with a crushing reminder that he wants someone he cannot have.

Oy! Another switcheroo where I carelessly thought I knew what was happening just to be surprised midway through the story. Although I dislike the pairing, I really liked the story--specially since I just graduated from college yesterday! :)

Author's Response: Thank you so much for the review! I'm glad you liked the story even if the pairing wasn't quite right. Who knows, maybe Scorpius ends up with Roxanne after all. ;) I'm glad that you were surprised, since I deliberately wanted to stay sort of ambiguous for a while. Congrats on your graduation. As my college president always said: "Go into the world and do well. But more importantly, go into the world and do good." And thanks again for the review, I appreciate it! ~Gina :)

P. S. I also was super amused by the T.O.A.D.S. in ancient runes at Pompeii. I am a Classics major, so the idea of Albus and Scorpius studying ancient languages is funny.

Author's Response: You know, I picked Pompeii because I thought maybe the ruins are actually hiding a magical settlement. And it seemed a good place to study things like Ancient Runes or Arithmancy, near the heart of the old Roman Empire. As for TOADs, a friend helped me with that when I needed something less Muggle and more British. It was fun to work out the details! Thanks again! ~Gina :)

Storybook Ending by LittleJM

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Arthur Weasley, as he has no shame in admitting, is prone to taking his work home with him. How, then, do a couple of enchanted storybooks confiscated by the Ministry, lead to a night where he realizes that his daughter may be pursuing her own happy ending? And how, exactly, does he take to this information?

The Last Enemy That Shall Be Defeated Is Death by simply_enamored

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: What if, on that fateful October night, it was not Lily's sacrifice that saved Harry, but James' sacrifice that saved them both? What if Lily is left to pick up the broken pieces of her life after its been shattered into a million pieces? Who would be there to rescue her? Who would get her through the night? This is a story of loss, of pain, of hopelessness, and ultimately, of healing.

After much deliberation and input from all you guys who have read thus far, I have officially decided to continue this story. It was initially supposed to be a one-shot, but I've decided I already have too much of my heart invested in it to quit now. :) Second chapter in progress. Thanks, all! Hmm... Really interesting idea! I think you should keep going and explore both Lily's life and Harry's life later. There could be confrontations with Snape, Harry's childhood in (or not in?) the wizarding world, horcrux in Lily (?), and so many other things to explore.

Author's Response: I have decided to continue. I've already worked something with Snape in there. Any further advice or suggestions would be most welcome! thanks! :)

Oh, wow, that was so cute. I especially liked the tentative hopefulness of the ending.

I was a little thrown by your use of the 1st person present tense point of view. I think that POV is a little too jarring, and you could have had comparable intimacy with Lily's thoughts using 3rd person POV.

Overall, though, it was great. The lily mittens were a nice touch!
