The Song of the Trees by Tinn Tam
Rated: 6th-7th Years [Reviews - 276]

Summary: Damaged by the war, Harry flees everything that used to be familiar to him and instead roams the night, haunted by unsolvable questions -- what truly killed Voldemort? And what lurks in the Forbidden Forest, where the trees seem alive?

As his investigation progresses, everything Harry has learnt is called into question as he discovers the most jealously kept secret of the Wizarding civilisation.

Great chapter. I loved it. & I certainly didn't expect it this soon. Maybe 'cause I had read the last one a bit late.

THis Martin did turn out an Unspeakable after all! Ha! Jerk. I really hate him. & Hermione! I can't believe it! It's like she's betraying Harry! him & his trust he showed when he told her about his suspicions before the incidents! This chapter shows more of the human part of Harry. His hurt at Hermione's actions. His relief at discovering that Romilda is alive, & the whole talk with Lance. I'm glad he got Lance back. That's a great relief. & That Romilda is alive! This chapter is probably one of the most positive ones. :D. Though it does seem to open the door the leads into darker chapters.

Great chapter! Waiting for the next!

Author's Response: Thank you, and the next is in queue.

You\'ll see more of Martin and Hermione in later chapters. Their motives will be further detailed and explained.

I admire the way you write. You are on of the very rare people I love to read their descriptive writing. I've always loved that way, but not anyone can write it in a good way, not dull & paragraph-skipping-inducing. I'm sure that if someone else wrote a story with your plot, it would have turned unreal & far-fetched, but you seem to find a way to go round that & make everything believable. Good work. Hope you do good in you studies. Can't wait for you to get back.

Author's Response: Thank you for another very nice review... I do love writing descriptions, in fact I love them so much I often have to go back and cut some things out so that they don\'t become \"paragraph-skipping-inducing\". The plot is indeed difficult to handle and I\'m doing my best (and I could say the exact same sentence if I replaced \"plot\" with \"studies\" :P). I hope I\'ll be able to keep the story believable.

That was really good. I thought you would kill Romilda even before she died. But I hoped you wouldn't. Isn't it getting a little bit too much for him? I'm starting to wonder if things will ever go his way.

All in all, The chapter was great. Loved reading it. Please update soon!

Author's Response: ...Answer to first question in next chapter... Thanks for another nice, to-the-point review.

Aaaaah! The second part is still not validated! I can't wait to read it!.. annoying rules really. But, on the other hand, readers will have to review both chapters. :D

Again, this was a great, discriptive chapter. I was a bit disappointed at Lance. I don't know why, but I thought he'd come to his senses after he sorts everything in his head & stay on Harry's side. I think, having a trusted friend, although as nonchalanced as Lance, even after knowing such secrets about him would change a lot in him. He doesn't seem to be willing on seeking a friend, so maybe a friend should remind him of what good it'd do him to.

I still can't believe you killed Ron! That's awful! & everything was starting to get good for Harry!

Author's Response: The rule is apparently merely due to the fact that the archive messes up chapters over 10k words.

Your analysis of Lance\'s behaviour is quite good, and said behaviour will become clearer in the next chapter (not the one waiting for validation, the real next one). Harry is, and should be, relatively independent, but having friends is still important to him.

And I didn\'t kill Ron. Okay, I put him in a coma, which isn\'t much better, but I didn\'t flat out kill him.

Author's Response: Oh yes, forgot. Thanks for the review. :)

I just read your Author respond to my last review. You really didn't kill Ron? I must have gotten that wrong, I'll go back & see where my brain decided it needed a little break from reading. :D

Author's Response: Lol. No I didn\'t! See chapter 8, or the Interlude I added lately.

Great Chapter. Sorry I didn't update earlier. I'm having my Final Examintaions for this year, & they've kept me well away from reading anything providing it's not a school textbook.

God, this new Transfiguration teacher is annoying! He reminds me of Lockhart.
I'm starting to believe that this Third Kind is not unknown to the wizards (other than the dead people & the portraits who wouldnt speak about it, I mean.) At least, not completely. I wonder what's the deal with the Martin bloke, if he knows anything about them, & if he works in the Department of Mysteries. I don't think I'd ever like an Unspeakable. I expect them to be the kind that had sworn to talk in Sphinx language & speak only in Riddles. If not annoying, it's boring to meet someone in life who does that. :D

I've dpne what you told me & went to read the interlude, & I think its a fantastic way to clear up any confusion (at least it did to mine!) & The coma Harry went into seems much more serious in there. I did not spare it a lot of thought really. & he was at the Weasleys? Poor them.

Anyway, I loved the chapter. I don't mind long waiting or your stories' chpaters, really. You've update it everyone of your ongoing fics, except "My worst fears". I know the summary says it's on hold, but I can't help but hope. :D

Author's Response: I know quite a bit about being kept busy by revisions, so no worries; I\'m very happy you finally found the time to review. I\'m answering very late, so you now have all the answers to your questions -- well, most of them anyway. I\'m happy you liked the interlude; as for My Worst Fear, it *is*, unfortunately, on hold. Sorry.

OMG, WHY is there a bloody count restriction! That is SO unfair. The next chapter better be really long & satisfying! Oh god, so Lily wasn't exactly a complete Muggleborn? She must've had some Third-kind royal ancestor, then. Queen Cassiopeia, Great great great great great, etc. grand mother of Lily Evans. Nice. =D

Can't wait for the next chapter! Really!

Wow.. I loved it! I had read it yesterday & I had my semi-final Biology test today. I screwed up, actually. I woke up late, missed the bus. Mum said she had been waking me extra early to study, but I had been dreaming of a certain dark-haired guy.. Hehe, very pathetic, especially as the fic shows him at my mum's age (Ew! Siriu. Mum. Not the best combination of vocabulary). :D anyway, I loved it! I'm reading A Wolf In The Moonlight. (& Listening to Duran Duran's Serious. :D Hungry like the wolf is next. )

Author's Response: Yay for you listening to Duran Duran while you read (their best song imho, lol). Sirius is fab and thought fab by women of all ages (excepts mums, who shall be thought of as maternal only, in order to prevent bleeding eyes and blinding headaches. :D) I hope you did well on the Biology test and thanks so much for reading!

Oooh! I loved it! It's really really great. But I have to admitt, even though I'm a very rebelious &-erm- "frantic" Sirius-fan, I think that Marie is better with Olivier, not Sirius. & I really can't wait to see what she'll find out about James. I personally would love to read another part from James's POV.

All in all, it is great. can't wait for an update.

Author's Response: Thanks. You don\'t have to assume that Marie-Antoinette is attracted to Sirius, she may only be craving for a friend. I\'m trying to update, please be patient with me. Thanks again for the review!

Heh.. Sirius can be an insenetive pervert sometimes.. I'm glad he goes to fix things up with Remus. I'm head to Remus's POV now. Great one-shot. I read several stories & one-shots but I didn't review, because I only read them sneakily between my studies. I promis in 2 weeks, when I finish tests, I'll review what I'v read & going to read. I'm planning on reading Semi Charmed Life, but I'm not right now, `cause I know Iwon't be able to study 'till i finish it, which might cost a few Cs & Ds, maybe Fs even. :D

Author's Response: Don\'t put the guilt of bad grades on me! I\'d rather you wait and read with a clear conscience. Thanks for reading this story, though! ^_^

Aw! I love how Sirius dealt with that! (Yeah, I know. Not the point of the story, but, really!) & BTW, the assume thing is great! It's been always a catch phrase between me & my friends, though it wasn;t original on our part. We got if from Eight Simple Rules. :D

This is kind of like reading a fiction about different charcters. I don't feel like I'm reading about Draco or Hermione or Harry. Don't get me wrong ,I think this is better! I did say in my first review that I'm more of a canon fan, so this kind of clears the awkwardness around any H/Hr pairing. =)
