I'm a 27 year old Human Resources guy for a big insurance company in the U.S. A great job but I can't help thinking it would be much more fun to write books for a living. Love skiing, English Literature (Dickens, C.S. Lewis, Shakespeare), fanfics, and am starting to get interested in the EPL.
I also keep a blog -- themickel.blogspot.com.
Summary: An Irish witch languishes in the darkness of her family home, confined by her father and circumstances. What will it take to bring her out of this exile? The chance to return to Hogwarts? The opportunity to participate in the fight against Voldemort and his Death Eaters? Or will it be Severus Snape, a man she did not expect to see again in her lifetime?
This is canon compliant to OoTP but written pre-HBP.
Reviews and constructive criticism are most welcome, and thanks go to Ashwinder who kindly beta read the chapters for me. :-)
Well written. I like especially how you establish setting, i.e. "rain lashed against the castle with all the ferocity of an angered god..." Very descriptive. I also like how you've managed to keep everyone in character--I don't know that I've seen anyone manage Harry's reaction to Ron and Hermione so well.
Author's Response: Ooh, thank you. I'm glad you think I've got it right...I find the three of them so difficult to get right, especially on such an uncharted issue.
Summary: COMPLETED :) It was a Hogsmeade weekend and Harry, Ron, and Hermione were all planning on doing their Christmas shopping. But then Ron couldn’t go. Harry/Hermione romance
I don't think your chapters should be any longer, I like them how they are: Short and Sweet. You make them interesting and don't add too much needless info. in them.
You've got a good story going, keep it up!
Author's Response: thanks, i'm glad someone is enjoying my short chapters! Lol. i like how you put it, "short and sweet". Thanks a ton :). by the way, i love your penname!
Very interesting. I like your take on the origin of dementors, as well as Voldemort apprenticing with Grindelwald.
Great stuff! I'm anxious for some more.
Summary: Rita Skeeter has 7 minutes to quickly interview staff and Students of Hogwarts school of W&W! See what Hilarious antics that Skeeter woman will dish out as she hounds Harry, Ron, hermione, macgonagall, Snape, Moody, Trelawney, Draco, Dumbledore, hagrid, luna and lastly a special guest. Hopefully witty! Read and Review! please review! I beg of you! lol!
Very entertaining. I would have liked it more without the juvenile humor (Harry liking Ron, Prof. Trelawny's crystal balls) but still great.
Well written and interesting. Keep it up.
Summary: This story starts during the summer between Harry's fifth and sixth year. It follows his journey from the skinny, guilt-ridden Boy Who Lived to the Man Who Would Defeat Voldemort. Some H/G and R/Hr romance. Chapter 50 is up!!!! STORY COMPLETE!!! Written pre-HBP. This story no longer follows cannon.
Amazing. I loved how you handled Sirius's will: believable, funny, and tear-jerking. Very nice. The only recommendation I would give you is to make better chapter summaries. I wasn't interested at all the first time I looked over them; you should write a great summary to reflect your great chapters.
Summary: After Sirius' death Harry is in his own private world of misery, but with Ginny's love and a plan to bring together his best friends, he is brought back to reality with much more than he expected...
Thank you. I have been enjoying your story for some time now. Your style is interesting and fun to read, and you have a great imagination. Thanks again!
A good start. I really like switching between the two points of view. I'm anxious to read more.
Summary: Parody of the Harry Potter series written and completed before the release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. It looks at the lives of some of the major characters as they wait impatiently for book six to arrive. Naturally, chaos ensues. Suitable for all.
Winner of the first annual Quicksilver Quills Award 2006 for best humor fiction. Thank you!
Favorite line from Chapter 5: "you s-said s-s-soft, and..and marshmallows are soft! Remus I miss them so much!"
Brilliant. I'm loving it--keep it up!
Author's Response: Thank you soooo much! Hmm...everyone seems to have really enjoyed that particular line - YAY!
My favorite line so far:
"He's the one with the addiction. Why should I suffer?"
Author's Response: Thank you so much, I love that bit!
Summary: The thunder sounded outside again, like a dragon’s roar, and Regulus flinched. He wished Sirius was there. I’m still afraid of storms, Sirius, he thought, the wry smile disappearing. . . . Regulus struggles to make a decision. This time, though, his brother isn't there to tell him it's okay to be scared.
Interesting read. I like the story on Regulus, you're really on to something here. Get another chapter going.
Author's Response: I'm afraid I don't think this would work at all well as a multi-chapter story -- it was random (there's no more plot) and was written as a one shot. On the other hand, I am working on a story about Regulus in school (and his relationship with his brother). And thanks for the review and putting it on your favorites list! Cheers! --- Loki
Fascinating premise, well-written- you've really got my interest in this one. Keep cranking those chapters out!
Excellent. You have an amazing style, it flows so smoothly. I am definitely looking forward to reading more. Thank you for sharing your story.
Author's Response: Thanks. About sharing the story: as long as there are people who will read it and enjoy it, then I'm happy! Peace to you
Summary: Hermione Granger has been in love with Harry Potter since the middle of fifth year—she thinks the feeling is mutual and she’s tired of waiting. Now Hermione is a very smart witch; when she sets out to achieve a goal, the realization of said goal is generally in the bag. A tale about what happens when Hermione gets fed up and Harry gets woken up.
THEY FINALLY GOT TOGETHER!!! I've got to hand it to you, you know how to write a fun story. This is the first Romance I've frequently checked to see if it had been updated, and been mad when it hadn't. Entertaining, well-written, funny; thank you for sharing your story!
It was good. Can't wait for the next phase.
Very fun to read. You're killing me with the suspense though.
You've got me hooked! Very well written and flows nicely. A tad bit condescending towards guys, but that's to be expected. I enjoy your style, please update soon.
A good beginning and it is well written. Keep it up!
Summary: *Runner Up in the 2006 Annual Quicksilver Quills Awards for Best Dark/Angsty*
It's the one thing everyone must do. You can't avoid it, you can't bargain with it, you just do it. It hurts sometimes, hell, it hurts most of the time, but it's also the most natural thing in the world. One of those rare things that makes us human.
This story is included in the Epilogues story arc, however it is a side story that can be read at just about any time. it is most favorable, however, to wait until reading Epilogues Part I for certain thematic reasons.
Superb. Very well written, refreshingly different setting and situation -- thank you.
Author's Response: No, thank you. I think one of the most nerve wracking things about this story is that I put so much emotion into it, that I think I fret nonstop about how it will be received, so your kind words are very nice to hear. Hopefully you\'ll check out my other fics...
