Someone Beside Me by hermione210

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Lily Evans reflects on how James has treated her over the years, and how she has treated him in return. Small mention of character death.

One-shot written for the Gryffindor In-House Banner Challenge in response to the banner by wendelin the weird.

It has always bothered me to read fics in which James seems obsessed with Lily since first year. It's a bit...weird to be eleven, and already chasing one girl for the rest of your life.

BUT...you wrote yours in such a way that James doesn't seem obsessed, just loving and genuinely caring. LOL. In fact, you make Lily sound like the annoying one. >.>

I loved it! You did a good job, and I love the ending line:
It was then that I, Lily Evans, knew that James Potter would never rest unless there was always someone beside me.

~mugglemathdork/Knight of the Turnip Table

Author's Response: Mwahahaha. I\'m so glad you caught that, Ritta. I was trying to make it seem like James was just trying to be friendly and caring and Lily misinterpreted his actions and went all Ebil!Lily on him and turned against him for the rest of her life. Or at least until they started dating. Thanks so much for the review! ~Becca

The Best Detention Ever by Hallie Black

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Everybody knows that Black equals Slytherin. It’s been this way for the past six generations. But what’s going to happen when eleven-year-old Sirius Black doesn’t do exactly what is expected of him? And, moreover, how is everyone else going to react?

I love Marauder stories as children...yours is just cute.
I loved little Peter -- and I'm a Peter basher!
It was funny to see Sirius be all excited about seeing a 40 year old muggle woman, and then be more excited about meeting a halfblood. *laughs*
And the "book" comment just goes to show that maybe purebloods really don't know squat about muggles. He seems a little OOC though...I imagined he'd be more tentative/cautious about meeting muggleborns. I don't know...just my opinion.
I like the cheeky responses though.
I can't wait to see your next chapter.

Author's Response: THANK YOU!!! :)

The Dursley Descendent by krumflies11392

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Dudley Dursley gets married to a wonderful wife and has two perfect sons. Everything seems to be perfect in his life until an unexpected letter arrives at his doorstep- his son is a wizard! Is Dudley going to have to relive his dreaded childhood?

Dear Fans,

I know that I have not been on Mugglenet FanFic in SEVERAL months and I am sorry. These past months and year have been so crazy, hectic, and frustrating there has been no time for DD. I am sad to tell that I will not be finishing DD unless a random amount of freetime appears.
Instead of leaving my fans to a cliff-hanger, I might be writing an ending chapter to summarize how I planned to finish DD. I am so sorry for all my fans! I appreciate your time in reading and reviewing- you guys are wonderful! 200 reviews! Thanks to my fans!

I like where your plot is going. It is very creative. I wonder what you have planned for later chapters.
Does Harry have "seeing" powers?
I like how you characterize the Dursley's.
I like how Shawn is almost a miniature version of Dudley: spoiled and annoying.

I do think it's weird that Harry growing up with muggles wouldn't know about muggle hospitals. And it's even more weird that he would have to ask Arthur Weasley. I don't know it just seems that he would know about going to the front desk to ask for help. I know he spent a great deal locked up under the cupboard but it just seems he should know.

Muggle - you know I think that muggle is just anoun and not a proper noun so it can be left in lowercase. =]

Overall, good job!

Author's Response: Also, thanks for your honesty in my story... I will learn from my mistakes. Hint-the way Shawn acts will make a great affect in the plot of the story. Muggle is capitalized in the HP books, so I will continue capitalizing it.

Broken Friendships by RedheadedWeasley

Rated: 1st-2nd Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: This is a story of what happened at Godric and Salazar's final meeting. The two men exchange more than words. My take on how it all ended for the four founders.
Reviewer: mgle_teacher Signed
Date: 07/27/06 Title: Chapter 1: The Duel

You know...you should really consider continuing this plot. It's quite interesting.
I was surprised that you chose to have Godric Gryffindor be the creator of the Cruciatus Curse. That's quite original. I loved it.
I wonder are the other unforgiveable actions the two other curses? And why did Salazar leave? Because of the pureblood vs. muggleborns/halfbloods being allowed into Hogwarts?
Again...good job. Loved it.

Author's Response: Thank you for the wonderful words. I was surprised at Godric being the creator of the Cruciatus Curse as well. I thanked my Muse for that little bit of inspiration. As for the other unforgiveable actions, I was refering to the Unforgiveable Curses, but I\'m not sure how complete the list is at this point. Probably the Imperius is on there, not sure if AK has been invented yet. Why Salazar left is anybody\'s guess, but yes, this was his break with the school and his friends forever. Personally, I think there is a little more to it than the pureblood vs. muggleborn issue. Unfortunately, JKR is the only one who knows for sure. Thanks for taking the time to review!

We are Who we Choose to Be by LadyAlesha

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Minerva is going through a rough time. First she lost her mother, then she lost her friends. Will she risk losing her father as well in order to live the life she wants to live?
Reviewer: mgle_teacher Signed
Date: 07/27/06 Title: Chapter 1: Making Choices

That was funny.
I really thought it amusing that Minerva would stand up to the caretaker like that and cover for five troublemakers. But she is a true Gryffindor isn't she?

On another note, the characterization you do of her is almost like she's a version of Hermione (or actually vice versa).

Good work!

Author's Response: I\'m glad you enjoyed it and thanks for reviewing. I see Minerva and Hermione as very similar characters, but I tried to make Minerva her own person as well. Her whole situation is different from Hermione\'s. When Hermione came to Hogwarts she didn\'t have friends, she was always alone, and Hermione certainly studies for herself, not for anyone else. Minerva on the other hand, in this story anyway, used to have friends, then her mother died and her father became really strict on her and she started studying to please him, she wasn\'t studying for herself anymore. That\'s the most important difference, Minerva in the end chose her friends over her father, Hermione never had to make that choice.

To the Souls by BeautyInTheBreakdown

Summary: HHWP challenge submission

Where did Sirius go after he fell through the veil? This story answers some questions you may have had about the mysterious place.
Reviewer: mgle_teacher Signed
Date: 04/14/07 Title: Chapter 1: Beyond the Veil

I love your writing style. The beginning is so descriptive, and the words flow rather effortlessly. It was enticing, the words just drawn you in. I particularly like the way you describe the 'nothing.'

The concept of the 'souls of ghosts' being behind the Veil is a very intriguing one as well. It's an interesting theory.

The beginning is a little choppy at the beginning, but it is still good. The only thing that bothered me was the sentence:
Bella is family, no matter how much I hate to admit it. I could never kill family.
I'm almost pretty sure that Sirius hated Bella as much as she hated him. Other than that, you're characterization of Sirius is perfect. =]

You did a great job!

That was so beautifully written. My eyes watered at your description of a tired, old Severus Snape. It was wonderful.

I never did get to beta the epilogue - I was crying at the end. *wipes tears*
I might have been your beta BUT you definitely have the talent of writing!
And I was happy to be your beta -- sorry I lagged it for a while. lol.

Author's Response: Hi Ritta! Thanks so much for coming by to read the epilogue! You were a wonderful beta, thank you so much for all of your wonderful work on this story! You never lagged, you worked so hard to help me meet that deadline. This story was one of my most challenging yet and I really appreciate all of your help. I\'m sorry I never got you the end, but I was wiped out by the time I finished, lol. :) I\'m glad you liked how it turned out, even if you did cry. :) Thank you so much for your great review, and for being such a super beta!! ~Gina :)

My Cuddling Catnip Needs Some Attention by HermioneDancr

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Luna’s not feeling well, but she’s having a bit of trouble figuring out why. Could it be from doxy droppings? The dusk-blooming sun rose? Or is it something even more bizarre? First, I love Harry/Luna! XD
And second, "Luna-love" *dies*
How freaking cute! *squee*

Ok, but on a serious note, I really loved your characterization of Luna. It was spot on, especially the ramblings and aloof personality. You also got Harry down rather well...with the hovering and 'creased' brow and 'mother hen' behaviour. I can definitely imagine him behaving like that towards his future wife.

My only nit-pick is that he doesn't really respond to Luna's crazy ramblings, but I guess being married to her for two years does that. Even though you do mention that his 'good' isn't the same as her 'good' so it's good to know that you didn't totally cast off that aspect of Harry's persona. It shows that he accepts her just as she is. *loves*

This was my favorite line:
She smiled dreamily at him, causing him to grin sheepishly back.

“Hello there, Luna-love. I have some tea for you, if you’d like it.”

He's so boyish?!

And I also thought this was fluffy: Though he had to admit, nothing short of love for his wife could bring him to cuddle that catnip. It tickled.

The ending was rather fast though, but good nonetheless. I like how you brought out Luna's Ravenclaw side too! XD

Great job!

Author's Response: Hi Ritta! Thanks for the review, and congrats on becoming a mod! I\'m glad you like my characterization (possibly better than I do; I like how Luna came out but Harry is too sappy for my taste). The ending is probably rushed because I wrote this for a fic exchange... you know how those go. Squee for Harry/Luna!

The Dark Lord's Blog by Schmerg_The_Impaler

Rated: 1st-2nd Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: What does Lord Voldemort do in his spare time? Well, that's an excellent question. Who would have known that the Dark Lord has a blog? (He also has a loyal following of readers, most of whom are Death Eaters and who post their comments.) Voldemort dispenses advice on everything from murder methods to germ protection to Power Rangers to shoes, and gives an account of the life of an evil overlord. But is he posting too much personal information online? And will Harry read it and find out more about the Dark Lord than Voldemort ever intended? Read and see.

WARNING: Extremely OOC behaviour from almost all.

RUNNER-UP in the 2007 Quicksilver Quills Awards for Best Humour fic! Also nominated like 21 times, because apparently my readers are as insane as I am!

I can't give you a critique of poetry, but I will tell you that I rather enjoyed reading this.
I've yet to learn how to truly appreciate poetry, but just reading it I get the gist of the poem. It's quite eloquent if I must say so myself.
The color of betrayal is woeful!

Very good job! I love the way you mention the betrayal of other great men by throwing in the names of their traitors.

so...what is he going to do?
I'm rather intrigued - when you say he's going to save himself?
Is that man that fell from the trees mysteriously - himself?!
You have good twists so I'm trying to guess this one! lol.

Author's Response: Hi Ritta! Well, what do you *think* he is going to do? Because of course I can\'t answer that, lol. ;) As for your guess - its a good guess, isn\'t it? You\'ll have to wait and see (but not too long since I sent you a PM, lol) Thank you so much for reading this story, I\'m really happy you are enjoying it. There are a few more twists so I hope you enjoy the rest of the story! Thanks so much for leaving a review, I\'m so excited!! ~Gina :)

Now THAT was a tear jerker!
You're such a wonderful writer, Gina! I loved it - the ending was fabulous!
I would have never thought to re-unite Harry with his parents in a ghostly world - but it was beautiful!
I really cried - I hate you!

Author's Response: Aw, Ritta! *hands out more Kleenex* I\'m sorry it was so sad for you! I don\'t know what\'s gotten into me, between this story and my August Challenge story it just keeps getting sadder and sadder! I\'ve also got a thing for magical portraits, I think. ;) I am so happy you liked it, though. Thank you SO MUCH for reading this story and for your lovely reviews!! I really appreciate all your support. See you around Ravenclaw, and thanks again!! ~Gina :)

Awww *sniff*
You killed Harry?! What is wrong with you?! lol. j/k
I love how you incorporated that drabble from the Three Broomsticks - lovely!
It really was a sad ending - but I'm a tad confused as to what happened - I thought he saved himself?!
Is Harry stuck in a time warp?

Author's Response: Hi Ritta! Thank you so much for reading this story! I often wonder what is wrong with me, as well. ;) My husband doesn\'t even want to read this story because of what I\'ve done, lol! The drabble came first and really sealed Harry\'s fate - poor Harry, and poor Ron. I\'m sorry it was confusing! Harry is not stuck in a time warp. Harry went back in time thinking that many people had died, including Ron. His goal was to save them, which he did. By casting the Patronus he did also saved his past self from Voldemort, and allowed his past self to cast the final spell. But future Harry was mortally injured by Bellatrix, and weakened by the Cruciatus Curse. It was love that motivated Harry to go back in time and accomplish these things, and he sacrificed himself to do so. Does that make sense? It makes sense in my own private little world, I hope I\'ve made in clear enough for my readers! Maybe one more chapter will help, it\'s just about finished. Thank you so much for reading this and leaving a wonderful review! ~Gina :)

Author's Response: Hi Ritta! Thanks so much for reading the story! Yay for the first review! Who do *you* think the man is?? He has a direct impact on what Harry does next, so the next question is - what happens next? Chapter Two is done so hopefully you\'ll know more soon! Thanks again for reading and reviewing!! ~Gina :)

September 1 by helgaandgodric

Reviewer: mgle_teacher Signed

I loved that last line, Kate. This story is rather fluffy, but overall cute!

It's funny how I was reading your description of the Malfoy family, and I must say...it's almost identical the one I had made up for my AU Malfoy family. I gave Draco and Hermione six children though...and I had twins too! I never did get around to writing it, and the twins eventually were not twins in the end, but yeah. Maybe one day I'll decide to write.

Author's Response: Ha ha! Yes, this first one is supposed to by quite fluffy. As soon as I finish The Six I\'m going to write the rest of these; there are going to be quite a few! I\'m glad you liked this; I had so much fun creating the Malfoy family! obviously, great Malfoy fans think alike :D *hugs*

Sorry for being so late - I read it last week and forgot to post/review *hangs head in shame*
I was never really interested in Egyptian mythology in school but I like how you keep mentioned that they were overly obsessed with death (or preoccupied)and I was also particularly interested in the fact that you mentioned there was no unified religion - it was very cult like and flowed according to the pharaoh of the times.
It made me think about what I know and don't know about Egyptian mythology.
