I am a freshman in college, and I have been in love with Harry Potter since sixth grade. You do the math.
By the way, my father is Trucker, and you should all read his stories, because they're full of amazing!
It really is a good chapter. I think it might seem a bit hollow because it's more transitional, but there's really a lot of good stuff here, setting up for when things really get moving.
Trust yourself when you stray from your outline. I find that sometimes you discover something new that's even better than what you originally wrote. Take Harry's friendship with Lisa and Draco, for instance. You wrote that Harry and Draco weren't supposed to become friends, and look at what it's done. It's brought out characteristics of the two that were probably not going to be expounded on in the canon that further exlemplifies Harry's Slytherin qualities and shows that Draco's actually capable of a real friendship. Basically, I wouldn't worry too much; you'll write what you need to, and it'll be a wonderful story. Keep it up!
Author's Response: Thanks for the comments, advice, and encouragement. Your reviews are always such a pleasant surprise.
Isobel's almost home! I'm so glad she's with her grandparents at least. Now we just need Harry, and hopefully before Riddle does something bad to him. I'm very impressed with your writing, and I can hardly wait to see where you take this next. It's by far the most fascinating alternate universe story I've ever read, and I hope you keep the story coming, because I absolutely love every word.
Author's Response: Thanks for the review dear! Isobel and her grandparents are the stars of the next chapter. James and Lily are not far behind. :)
I hadn't read many (if any) alternate universe fics before this one, and I'm loving it! It's amazing to see all these characters we already know put in surprising, new situations. And I think Riddle is still Voldemort. The way you described him in this chapter is very much the way I see him in the books. And I hope Dumbledore can pull off this plan of his. Keep up the good work!
Author's Response: Welcome to AU! It\'s the only place I play in any fandom. :D
Here's another review, father.
This is much better than the first version. Much more fleshed out, smoother transitions...
And Moaning Myrtle is very entertaining.
Author's Response: Thank you, daughter. I noticed that Goblet of Fire is at the local economy theater. Will you have time to see it again with me when I get home?
I have decided to review every last thing I read, in hopes that you will ask me to stop. Anywho, I definitely enjoyed this chapter as well. The rewrite has been wonderful to read.
Very good, father, sir, dad, etc. I very much enjoyed this story. The rewrite is so much better... yeah.
Author's Response: Your really are trying to butter me up.
Well, father, you want a review from me? I loved it! I still have the original version in that email, but this one is a billion times better! There's your review. Hope you liked it.
This was... beautiful. I honestly cannot think of any words that could do it justice. I absolutely loved it.
I loved it! I absolutely loved it! It was amazing! You are amazing!
I definitely think the intimacy was good for this story. I've personally never been overly comfortable reading it, but the way you wrote it was very good, and I agree that Harry deserved it. I can't wait for the epilogue, and I really do hope you go on to write original works. You're wonderful!
Author's Response: Oh, thanks much! I\'m glad you enjoyed it. I hope I can finish the original and it goes somewhere, too. Thanks for the confidence boost.
Big trouble? I don't think even that fully describes how bad this is!
Really, really good chapter. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, and I can hardly wait for your next update. Your writing has improved so much since "Power of Emotion", although I will always love that story. Each chapter is better than the last.
I hope your move goes all right. Keep it up!
Author's Response: Aww, thanks so much. I think I\'ve come a long way since then, too. Thanks for noticing!
I am absolutely loving this! I love reading the aftermath, and I don't mind the length at all. I've always enjoyed how you make it longer so as to get more details in. Very enjoyable.
So, are you going to write more fanfiction, or some original works? I know you'll succeed at whatever you choose, and I'll always read whatever you write. Seriously, I've actually learned a lot of great storytelling techniques from you that I hope to use in my own writings someday when I'm not so busy with school and work. Please let us know what you're going to do after a well-deserved break, because I know I'm not going to be the only one interested.
Thank you for being so amazing!
Author's Response: Oh, thank you so very much. I\'m going to take a break for a bit. With all this house stuff going on, I just don\'t have the time. After that, I\'d like to try something original and see if I can do it. I\'ve left plenty of room for oneshots in this universe when I need a Harry fix, lol.
Don't do this to me! I've stayed up all night reading this story, and on a school night, of all things!
Um, anyway... This is a really good story, the first post-HBP I've tried reading and actually liked. I'm generally not one to leave reviews, but I have enjoyed all your stories, and have read them several times. You've become an amazing writer, and your stories always keep me completely distracted until there's nothing left to read. Keep up the good work!
Author's Response: Thanks very much! - But no more pulling all nighters on school nights ;)
Goodness... I swear, you outdo yourself with every chapter! Good work!
I really hope Harry will be all right. When Dumbledore said he had a long ways to go on his recovery, I didn't think it would be quite this bad. I know he'll be fine, but still, you've certainly got me on the edge of my seat, and I can hardly wait for your next update.
I know Dudley is a bully by nature, but he's making me uncomfortable, too. His fascination with the Dark Arts can't come to any amount of good.
I definitely loved the part with the scars. I think it's a great idea to have something physical to serve as a reminder. It almost seems comical, but it's truly touching at the same time.
As always, you did a wonderful job, and I hope you do write go on to write some original works. You're absolutely amazing!
... Wow. That was... absolutely amazing. I swear, you outdo yourself with each new chapter and story. That idea was ingenious!
I reread the entire story over this past week (and I promise I didn't stay up all night again), and I had realized that there was definitely a connection between Harry and Ginny with the stones. It's amazing what you can pick up on when your brain is more awake. I kept telling my dad that it would play a part in this chapter, and I was right. Huzzah! I had started connecting the dots about what Hermione was planning, but you still surprised me. Ingenious!
I await your next update with eager anticipation.
Author's Response: Aww thanks much. I\'m thrilled to hear you gave it a second read and still found it worthy. Yee Ha!
Have I mentioned that cliff-hangers drive me nuts? That aside, this was a very good chapter. I love that Ginny makes Harry so happy, and lets him dream of the future. He needs that.
I'm still slightly curious about Pansy, though. It's obvious that she's been up to something, but why would she be helping Voldemort if he's the reason her father's dead? It's less than likely that handing Harry over would make things better for herself and the Malfoys; Voldemort isn't the most forgiving person, after all. Still, she's obviously had help to get this far.
I definitely enjoyed this chapter, and I'm excitedly awaiting your next.
Author's Response: Your thoughts about Pansy are dead on, but JKR herself has called Pansy a \"stupid girl\", hasn\'t she? She\'s desperate, and she hasn\'t fully thougt out her plans. There are definitely those willing to take advantage of that, as you\'ll see in the next chapter.
OMG I love it! That's gotta be the best ending in all fanfiction! I think some one-shots will be awesome, too. I like that it's a happy ending, almost. I knew something was up with Dudley, and this is extremely fascinating, how you've left it off.
It's been an amazing journey, and I'm very glad I discovered your writing. Your stories will definitely help to pass the time until book seven comes out. Thanks for all the hard work you did to make such a wonderful story possible. I loved every minute of it.
Author's Response: Oh, thanks so much. I\'m thrilled to hear I helped to pass the time. I just wish we knew how much more time there would be to wait!
I definitely loved this chapter. I've always enjoyed some angst myself.
I wasn't worried that you were going to kill Harry, but I was a bit worried about Ron and Draco. Still, if Dumbledore said they were going to be all right, then they must be okay. All the same, I can't imagine losing my entrails. Ew...
I like the idea of tending to Harry's emotional needs. So few people do it that I think the poor boy was in desperate need of taking that first step. I'm glad the people from Harry's past were able to be there to help him with that, because he is such an angsty young man.
Very good work! I'm always so impressed with each chapter I read. And of course your stories are worthy of rereading. I've read Power of Emotion and Curse of the Damned at least three times each, and I still enjoy them. Same with your one-shots. You have a great talent for writing.
Author's Response: Thanks! I\'m thrilled to hear that you re-read them.
You scared me so bad! I had thought that you were going to kill off Ginny, but you're right. Harry needs her, more than he needs anyone else, even more than Ron and Hermione.
Harry isn't used to trusting blindly, let alone really trusting at all, so it's interesting that Hermione's forcing him to do it. I hope that he can do it, because I don't want him to die. It's like you wrote in your other fics, "Power of Emotion" and "Curse of the Damned", if anyone deserves the chance to really live, it's Harry.
I guess we're getting close to the end, now that all the other Horcruxes are gone. I'm already anxiously awaiting the next chapter, because I enjoy reading the things you write. You have such a wonderful understanding of the characters that's actually helped me to understand them better, and I've been an avid reader of the books since 1999. Please don't stop writing!
Author's Response: Thanks very much - and yes, I think Harry having to take that leap of faith and trust in his frineds is part of that power he knows not. Harry loves with all his heart, he just needs to accept that others love him the same way. It\'s hard for him to that.
Being a fan of Rent, it was the title that caught my eye. This seems like it'll be a good story, and I await your next chapter.
Author's Response: oh my god someone FINALLY got the title yay
This was really good. I had thought of the events of that night from that angle, but you've really solidified it. Very good work!
