I'm a truck driver who was introduced to Harry Potter by my daughter in 1999. The books are fantastic, the movies are some of the best made, and the fanfic is better than that I've read in Star Trek, Buffy, and even the Xena universes.
BTW, the Sorting Hat put me exactly where I belong, in Gryffindor.
True Colors by elephas
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 18]
Summary: The Healers blatantly ignored him. No sense in spending time and money to save a patient for later execution. Better to let him die now. Better for everyone concerned...
Severus Snape, war criminal, head of the Ministry's Most Wanted list since the end of the war, is finally apprehended - but not without a fierce fight. No one cares if he lives or dies, or even how he dies, except for one person...
An excellent read with the main characters very true to JKR's rendition. Loved it! Especially since you didn't just throw them into each others' arms, but allowed the seeds of a real friendship be planted.
Author's Response: Thank you! Snape is far too damaged and suspicious to fall into anyone\'s arms at the drop of a hat... it would take time to develop any level of trust. Glad you thought the characters true to form - that means a lot!
A Gift of Love by lunafish
Rated: 1st-2nd Years [Reviews - 9]
Summary: Love comes in all shapes and sizes. Filius Flitwick/Female Canon Character. Posted before DH.
This was a delightful story about a man we know so little about. Thanks for opening a window into his life for us.
Author's Response: Thanks, Trucker, for the kind words here and for the suggestions via e-mail!
Coming Home by belladonna_tb
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 280]
Summary: It's been four years since Ginny has seen Harry. He's finally defeated Voldemort & he's coming home. But neither one of them know what to expect, whether they can have a relationship together or not. Anticipation builds as they get ready to see each other for the first time.
I'm loving the story, and I really laugned at a small miswording:
Ginny blushed, “I couldn’t bare you sleeping on that small thing...
I'm sure you meant "bear" in that sentence. If she were to "bare" him she'd be undressing him...
I love your story! And I found myself wondering about:
Harry watched Sirius and Lily pour over their letters...
I know you meant "pore" over their letters; I found myself wondering if they added sugar after pouring milk over the letters!
The Last Day by Blossomlily
Rated: 1st-2nd Years [Reviews - 4]
Summary: It's the last day of school for the Marauders, Lily and Izzy. The Graduation ceremony has taken place. One-shot.
A very nice, fluffy piece with the Marauders and faculty well in-character... I liked it. Do write more!
Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing! ~bL
Breaking the Mind Trap by coppercurls
Rated: 6th-7th Years [Reviews - 21]
Summary: February challenge #1, in defense of love, by coppercurls of Hufflepuff House.
Hermione finds herself reliving her worst nightmare, the only problem is that the nightmare was real. Sometimes we only need a little help to pull us from our greatest problems.
Normally I avoid Draco/Hermione stories like I would a rabid dog. This is the first one I've read that I found believable. It pulled me into it without letting on that it was a D/H, held me in its grip, and persuaded me for once that a D/H relationship could be possible.
Author's Response: Well I am quite glad I\'m not a rabid dog, maybe a rabid sheep or something, I dunno. But, on a more serious note, I\'m glad that you enjoyed the fic, and thank you for your (eloquent) compliment.
Right Here by Grimmrook
Rated: 1st-2nd Years [Reviews - 106]
Summary: My First Fanfic. A songfic based on the song "Right Here" by Staind. At Bill and Fleur's wedding, Ron and Hermione have one last row.
This fic is the true beginning of the Epilogues story arc, and should be the first of my fics that you read. After this story, please read One Good Day. Thank you.
I normally don't read songfics. I'm glad I had some downtime today and read yours. Fluff? Sure, but I think you finally exposed what's been going on in their heads all this time, especially Ron's.
Author's Response: Awesome thanks. I think that's one of the reasons why I didn't want to write a songfic; because I typically don't read them. But, I'm really glad you had some downtime today too. As for Ron's head, I think maybe the reason this fight went the way it did was because Ron's part in all this is probably the least played out. Thanks for the review.
A Wizard in OUR family? by Blossomlily
Rated: 1st-2nd Years [Reviews - 3]
Summary: Kenneth Anderson’s just received his Hogwarts letter and his family’s gone over the top about it. Can he make it to Hogwarts in one piece? A light, funny tale of a simple and slightly delusional Muggle family one of whose younger ones is about to enter the world of magic. One-shot.
I enjoyed your exploration of the feelings of parents and other relatives on learning a child is so very different. JKR's characters have focused so much on the worst Muggles that we forget others would be very unlikely to react as negatively as they did to Harry, yet would be just as unlikely to consider it as wonderful as we fans believe we would. I also have to admire your story-telling skills--you drew me right into the story, introduced me to the characters without drawing attention to the fact you were doing it, and kept it all moving. Very well done!
Author's Response: Thank you very, very much! I'm so glad you liked it! I'm very open to things I should do to improve my writing. Thank you! ~bL
By the Lake by bredalot
Rated: 1st-2nd Years [Reviews - 20]
Summary: Remus's "later." After the hospital wing scene in HBP, Remus and Tonks figure out what's going on.
An excellent "missing moment" that JKR left up to our collective imaginations. I think you nailed it!
I Hate Myself For Losing You by annie
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 24]
Summary: Sometimes letting go can take all of what a person has...and then some.
Wow! Talk about a dark one... about a man living with the worst mistake he ever made... Remus may as well go dig his grave! I hope JKR gives him some happiness at the end of the books, that she let's him open his heart; you've certainly illustrated what's in store for him if he doesn't.
Six Flowers for a Wedding by Purplemage
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 56]
Summary: When you marry someone, you marry their family too. This is something that Fleur Delacour and Bill Weasley didn't consider. The two families couldn't be more different, especially the women. The day before the wedding, Fred and George came up with a plan to make the women stop arguing amongst each other. That was, of course, if they didn’t kill each other first.
Runner up for Challenge #1 of the Spring Challenge
Thanks for mixing together the oil and vinegar of the books and making it hysterically good!
Author's Response: This is sure an original review and a very special one. Thanks!
Obliviate Brevius by Cinderella Angelina
Rated: 1st-2nd Years [Reviews - 3]
Summary: This is Cinderella Angelina's last-minute entry to the One-Shot Molly Weasley Challenge for Hufflepuff House. A terrible calamity occurs that threatens Mrs. Weasley's sanity. How can they get her to cope? What are the consequences? [hooray for summary questions, I thrive on them]
You're got the core of what could be a great story here, but only that. At this point it's like watching a trailer for a coming film. And it's hard to read because of the abrupt transitions, with the characters barely seeming to register the stages of grief... Please consider doing this one again as a multi-chaptered story with MUCH more to it. What you gave us is SO good it's hard to believe you left out so much.
Author's Response: Wow, I can\'t believe you liked it. Well, liked the premise of it, anyway. I will definitely consider what you said; after I read your review I started thinking about the stuff I could add and stuff -- good idea. Have a nice day! *D*
Tree of Life, Tree of Love by hawk
Rated: 1st-2nd Years [Reviews - 2]
Summary: Lily plants a garden of her own. A one-shot in honour of Earth Day, April 22, 2006.
As a father of 4 daughters, I was touched by how well you captured the feelings of a wise, loving mother. Keep writing!
Author's Response: Thanks for reading! I really think there is a lot to be said about Lily and her relationships with Harry and others. She seems like a very deep and rich character. I hope we will hear more about her in the last book...
Gambit by harmony_bites
Rated: 1st-2nd Years [Reviews - 19]
Summary: Ron plays chess with Harry while contemplating ruthless choices and options. HBP Spoilers.
Excellent! I've wondered why JKR hasn't really told us more about Ron's strategic abilities since the first book... Since then his abillies been very subtly mentioned, almost hidden.
Author's Response: Perhaps they\'ll be highlighted in the last book? I just hope that we won\'t get another parallel from the first book with Ron sacrificing his life... I too wish we got more of that side of Ron in canon--and in fanfic. Thanks for the review!
What We Want by telpelinda
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 5]
Summary: Harry takes to wandering back around the school in the very end of sixth year, and finds once again the Mirror of Erised. What will he see in the mirror, and will he be happy about it?
It's an OK story now... Please come back to it in a few months and I think you'll be able to make it much better! In other words, you've got a great idea here, using the Mirror of Erised to help Harry come to grips with his conflicting needs (justice vs being with those he loves). You just need to come back later and polish the Mirror!
Author's Response: Haha, the story is actually a couple months old. I was just too lazy to fix it up, because just by looking at it I could tell that in order to fix it up I\'d have to practically re-write the whole thing, which I really didn\'t want to do. Thanks for reading, though!
Euthanasia by evanescence17
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 11]
Summary: It seemed that the young schoolboy with striking blonde hair had aged over thirty years in just a few hours. His silver hair was beyond recognition. It had turned into a strange murky brown, maybe due to the grime and blood. Who am I? This is not me. I've become a ghost with no hope of life. Merlin! Why couldn't things be the way they were before...
This is my version of what happens after the HBP. Also, this is my first FF, so please R/R!
I found only one problem in your story... Bellatrix acting like a person with a soul! In most fanfics she's completely insane, as likely to kill Draco as anyone else! Actually, I think even psychotic killers like Bella still have normal, lucid moments when they'd regret the loss of their family members.
Keep writing! You're good.
Author's Response: A/N Thanx for the review!
Ya, I know its kind of wierd for Bellatrix to be in a pensieve mood, but I figured even the most ruthless of people might have a heart too.

My Best Friend by nuw255
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 78]
Summary: Dave Jensen thought Harry Potter was just a fun story - that is, until he found out that his best friend was a witch. Join Dave as he learns her true identity and helps her to stop running from her past.
This is a semi-fluffy, and really quite silly (hey, that rhymed!) one-shot.
That was fun, a good read, and almost (but not) too sweet. Thank you for writing it!
Author's Response: I\'m glad you didn\'t find it too sweet. Thanks for reviewing; I\'m glad you liked it.
The Long Walk by HarryForGinny

Your story made a lonely day better. Thanks!
Between a Chinese Fireball and an Amaryllis by Purplemage
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 17]
Summary: "Sometimes, just sometimes the right decision is not always the one that makes the most sense."
Heather hadn’t wanted to see Charlie Weasley because she knew it would awaken many memories and feelings she had put to sleep a long time ago, but once she saw him she couldn’t help, wanting to know what he had been up to. Where had her lost love gone?
This story was the first price winner for the Weasley's Wizard Wheezes one-shot challenge .
Very sweet, very sad, very well-written. Keep writing!
Author's Response: Thank you, that was what I was aiming for and don\'t worry I\'ll keep writing. Thanks for the review!
A Few Short Words by Book Worm
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 17]
Summary: It is surprising how a few short words can have an incredible effect on your life. This is a story about Severus Snape, and a few words that may have affected him. This is sort of angsty, and it's up to you how romantic you find it.
This is your FIRST? Wow! Keep writing!
And, as a professional truck driver, I did find it romantic.
Author's Response: Thanks so much!!! I\'m always nervous about putting up stuff, so it\'s really great to have such a nice comment in return. Thanks again!
