I'm a truck driver who was introduced to Harry Potter by my daughter in 1999. The books are fantastic, the movies are some of the best made, and the fanfic is better than that I've read in Star Trek, Buffy, and even the Xena universes.

BTW, the Sorting Hat put me exactly where I belong, in Gryffindor.

The Letter by Cassandras Cross
Rated: 6th-7th Years [Reviews - 439]

Summary: Past Featured StoryDH SPOILERS! Harry is so consumed with his career as an Auror that he loses touch with Ginny and their children until a letter arrives to help him remember what really matters. But is something sinister waiting out there to take it all away? An escape from Azkaban, the first in twenty years, stirs up Harry's worst fears from the past as those he loves are threatened.

Romance, mystery, and drama combine to make this a story you won't soon forget! Set one year before DH epilogue. Completely canon compliant. All reviews receive responses.

THE EPILOGUE IS UP! I don't know whether to laugh or cry as this story comes to an end, and Harry finally figures out where it's really at. (Thanks again to the amazing mods for your rapid-fire response!)

I love the way you have Harry progressing from cluelessness to realizing what he's been missing. His thoughts regarding boyfriends! Wow! Just like the thoughts *I* had regarding my girls.

Author's Response: Harry\'s thoughts regarding \"boyfriends\" echo the sentiments I\'ve heard a lot of fathers express. Seems that when their little girls grow up, men suddenly remember what THEY were like as teens and it\'s pretty terrifying! Harry will continue to progress in this story, as will several other characters, and I\'d be interested in knowing your thoughts as the progression occurs. Keep reading and reviewing, please. Thanks for your comments. They are deeply appreciated.

Negative Space by Denebola

I like how you think! Hermione's desire is a two-fer; for the three of them to be together and for Harry to have a normal life. Nice!

Author's Response: Thank you for your review! It seemed fitting that Hermione's desire would have a bit of complexity to it, since she's so darned smart.

Great peace! You picked up on the truth about Albus Dumbledore in the same way that I did: Gellert Grindlewald was the first person, male or female, that Albus could truly relate to as an equal. That's why his admiration could be termed "love." Albus never acted upon it for several reasons, primarily because the whole situation blew up in his face, leaving him with a dead sister to mourn for the rest of his life. Albus not only feared power, he also feared unreasoning passion after that disaster.

Albus also probably knew that Harry's great power to love was something that he could never equal given his tragic past. I think that is why only Harry could defeat Voldemort -- Albus lacked the ability to love freely and with all his heart. The one time he had tried, he had lost everything.

So, you're right. Albus "never did anything inappropriate." He didn't dare to release his heart. And that was, ultimately, worse than dying.

Author's Response: Dumbledore really is a bit tragic, which makes him a great character to write. It always seems to be the most tragic cases that make the best characters. Very flexable.

Wow! While I was tempted to nitpick over some wording choices, the story itself captures so much of the feelings of a mother and how the innocent love of a child changes all too often to negative feelings.

Author's Response: Thanks! Thatís what I was aiming for.

I loved it! Although I'm a typical male who reasons his way through life, I've learned to listen to my gut. If something is making my stomach unhappy, it's almost always something very wrong that I haven't conciously noticed. So, I can identify with Ginny's experience... and you did a great job of blending it in with DH.

Author's Response: Thank you very much. A person\'s gut feeling is always important! :)

Your story was excellent! You caught Remus' fears perfectly -- he fears himself, he fears harming others, and he fears the loneliness. You've added so much depth to his character in these sketches. Please keep writing!

Author's Response: Thanks! Yeah, Remus was fun to write, intriguingly complex, but ever so quick to win sympathy. I was only worried I had put too much of myself into the character. If it worked, then maybe, at least for a while, I\'ve done something right.

Fantastic! I've always liked/hated Severus. After Harry, he's the best written character in the books. And I love the idea that he found a way to cheat death at Moldyshort's hands.

Author's Response: Thank you! I always loved his snarkiness while disliking the way he treated Harry, and wanted Severus to be a redeemable gothic hero. Instead of being flawed and doomed, I wanted him to be flawed and allowed to live!

I liked it! The idea of a tree entering a battle like this is Tolkienesque (of course I mean that in the best way). You're going on my Favorite Authors list.

Author's Response: Aw, thank you! And I am a HUGE Lord of the Rings fan, so saying my work was Tolkienesque is a tremendous compliment. I\'m glad you liked it!

Summary: This is book two in the "Potter's Pentagon" trilogy. Read "Potter's Pentagon: The Five" first, myesss? Cool.

WARNING: This story contains French people, an internal monologue about a blue orange, adolescent facial hair, good old-fashioned snogging, superstitious truck drivers, a portrait who calls everyone "Mavis," a zoo break-in, some very strange clothes, romantic conflict galore, and Ron Weasley's caffeine addiction. And worst of all, Professor Zabini!

Hogwarts is hosting the Triwizard Tournament, and when one of the members of Potter's Pentagon is selected to represent the school, much excitement ensues. Simultaneously, elections are being held for Minister of Magic, and things are getting busy at the Ministry.

Not to mention the fact that Jordan's made a new Muggle friend without informing her of the itty-bitty fact that he's magical, Haley has found an enchanted diary of dubious origin, Ted's met a werewolf from Beauxbatons, and Emma... well, Emma's not having a good year.

And what exactly is Ivy up to, anyway?

Everyone has secrets. But in the end, the truth will have to come out.

Wow! That was a lovely story about my favorite witch in the HP universe. Having lost a brother (thankfully, not a twin), I went through many of the feelings you described. Very well done, indeed.

Author's Response: I\'m so sorry for your loss. Writing about George was the most difficult part of this story. He and Luna are my favorite characters because they are always so funny, and it was really difficult to write a sad George. The end was expecially hard because I wanted to leave the impression that he was doing better at the end, but it kept ending up with him seeming happy-go-lucky again. I\'m glad you think I did a successful job. Thank you for reading!

WOW! That one hit home -- the depth of depression that drives you to hurting yourself. That's good, because I have a daughter who was close to doing that when a friend intervened and convinced her to ask for help. Well done!
