Awesome! I loved this. By the way, in the last chapter were you quoting from "Beautiful Disaster" by Kelly Clarkson? Because it certainly seemed like it. Anyway, bravo!

I luaghed, I cried, I smile, I squeed. This was amazing! I liked how well Alex excepted it, and I loved how Lily's life wasn't perfect. I also loved the bit about how the Marauders didn't like Alex. I wouldn't like her if I was in their shoes either (not that I dislike the character persay, but if I was a Marauder, I'd want James and Lily to get together, because that's a match that really was made in heaven). One thing that was interesting was how you made the time-line work. I read the summary for this on your advertising thread on the forums, and I was just thing: There is no way you can pull that off without disrupting the time-line completely. But you did! Sheer genius.

Damn. It's over.

Yeah. I've been following this story since chapter seven and what can I say? I've laughed, I've cried, I've gone "Angelina, don't leave him!" and "Draco, you are not your father!" too many times for me to count.

This is the best chaptered fan-fic I have ever read. You combine everything perfectly: Angst, drama, romance, mystery, suspense, action and just about every other genre.

I will always remember this story.

~Tree

P.S. I don't know anything about X-Men, can I read the sequel anyway? Because if I can't I'll have to rent all the movies and stuff which would be kind of a drag (unless they're as good as Star Wars, are they?). I'd do it for your fic-but I'd rather not.

Author's Response: Well, I\'m not sure if X-men compares to Star Wars, but I got a kick out the movies. Plus, more than 90% of the sequel will take place in the X-men world, so it would be wise to know a little about the characters. Or at least know who is who. =)

Thnanks for the review!

Hello again. I reviewed this ages ago, but I thought I’d have another go at and try to tell you why (in more detail, of course) I like this story so much.

The photographs were fantastic, and really told the stories instead of just being there for him to look at. My favorite is the one with Sirius in the common room, mostly because of the way he’s described (though the concept itself is also very good), “no facades or faked smiles… a cruel boy who ruled over a kingdom of dark secrets.” It makes the exact point it’s supposed to, and just sounds absolutely fantastic.

I also really loved the mini-story with the picture of the five of them because it’s so poignantly beautiful. The paragraph at the end of the story is really you at your best, because it says so much without needing to spell it out, just like Sirius used to say he loved Remus.

Anyway, just thought I’d try to leave a slightly more detailed review. I can’t wait till you submit your next piece!

I love this story. I just do. It's perfect, and it's so sad. I was crying all through it and I keep on crying whenever I think about it. I especially loved the part about the picture of Sirius in the common room because it was just such a wonderful description and Remus's emotions were so poignant and sad. It was amazing. And that's really all I can say about it. Thank you.

This story was lovely! The edning made my cry (poor Remus!). I really liked how the flashbacks and what was currently happening blended into each other. 10/10!

Author's Response: Oh thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the story. I've always loved flashbacks in stories and am happy that they worked in this one. Thanks for reviewing!

This was a really good story. Especially since it was Lupin who delivered the redemption and because (at least it seemed like you were implying this) he had a lot of problems of his own at that point. So, I really liked it and I wish you luck in the contest.

What a lovely, lovely, heartbreaking fic. I’ve read most of your work by now (I’m steadily going through everything) and you never fail to disappoint. This, though, is incredible, because of the recurring theme of red and green (such wonderful imagery), all the italicized sections, and the ending.

“He slams his glass of wine down, hard, on the table, and watches the smoky, blood-red stain seep through the white, and he sees red everywhere, red-on-red, red-on-green.” This passage, because the wine is red, but the tablecloth is (presumably) white, shows the conflict Sirius is still going through. The red of the wine, and the red of Gryffindor, show who Sirius dominantly is, but the green that he’s seeing shows that he’s still going through a conflict, and still has a little vestige of Black, and Slytherin, in him-otherwise there would be no green, there would only be the red of the wine, and the white tablecloth. Though maybe I’m hyper-analyzing, and you just did it because it reads so beautifully.

The little mini-story with Sirius and Remus after the “Snape” incident-in section II-is wonderful, particularly the lines, “His own face shocked and startled flickering in the firelight, Remus laughing, Remus saying Well, of course I don't hate you any more. Let it go, Padfoot. I have.” And, “…and left him there holding onto the rags of a friendship hoping for a miracle.

Remus didn't know that Sirius still had nightmares.”

To me these lines capture the relationship between Remus and Sirius perfectly-that Remus was angry, that Remus did hate Sirius for a time. But also that he couldn’t keep hating him. Remus forgives Sirius, because is that sort of person he is, but Sirius is still miserable, sometimes, and he was terrified of what he did, because he knew that he had made a mistake.

The end conversation between Regulus and Sirius is so logical, because Sirius still feels some vestige of emotion towards his brother, but only really because of what they used to have, and he knows that really he and Regulus stopped being brothers-and friends-a long time ago. Sirius doesn’t go OOC, as I think that there’s a very good chance that most author’s would make him, but instead is realistic, and offers, but doesn’t really hope. It’s not an overly sentimental conversation, but one between two people who have a huge history but nothing left, and I think that it fits the way the Blacks were raised.

If Mugglenet still had a rating feature, this would get a ten (or five stars, or whatever it is, as I can’t remember anymore).

Lovely. Really, really lovely. I’ll admit, I was a bit surprised to find this on MNFF, even with the Muggle and Harry references, but I’m really glad I did. You describe human life from the perspective of an outsider so well, with just the right amount of condescension, amusement, and pity but I can still see a bit of respect for we lowly humans in it.

I must say that I like the original version even better, perhaps because it fits together in a more logical fashion, and I like the ending better, cynic that I am. And also because it shows, instead of hope, the utter monotony and pointlessness of it all, because the end has already occurred and will occur forever, over and over again, but still does allow for that spark of hope that keeps us all from committing suicide.

Your work is true philosophy.

Tree

P.S. And may I say that I truly admire and adore your Wolfstar writings? It makes me warm, fuzzy, angsty, and sad all at the same time. Just as I like it.

You just made me very, very happy. Excellent story. It really portrayed Draco as he is: Not good, not bad, just indifferent. And Harry's reaction to the kissing was pitch-perfect. I loved how they reacted exactly as they discussed. And the emphasis of "Slytherin colors” was genius. It sort of makes me think that Harry isn't the perfect Gryffindor and it emphasizes the piece’s connection to Draco. And when Draco said that he didn't have enough time to hate Harry it really showed his attitude towards life.

Anyway, what I am trying to say is that your characterization is genius, and I am now a delighted (and squeeing, you would not believe how much I squeed) fangirl and can go write my essay. Thank you.

Author's Response: Your comment certainly made me just as happy :) Thank you for writing such an in-depth review! I\'m always glad to be of assistance in bringing out the inner fangirl in everyone ^_^

God. It’s funny, I remember that line in Unveiled Secrets, that Sirius was first in James’s heart, but I’ll admit that I didn’t take it like this. However, this is gorgeous (just like all your other fics, it drives me insane), and perfectly and utterly logical. The idea that they had such a relationship for ten years is incredible, especially because they waited seven years. And right before the wedding… It’s so ridiculously in character I can barely stand it. Your Lily and James don’t seem to be huge fans of getting married, do they?

Anyway, the take you put on all this was wonderful, and the switching off really fit. It’s just such a wonderful idea, and it really makes an unbelievable amount of sense.

Anyway, I’m babbling, and wasting space, so I’ll sign off here. You’ve managed to knock me off my feet and distract me from my homework yet again (if I fail school, you are definitely one of the reasons… and yes, that’s a compliment).
