Behind those Emerald Eyes by makinmagic323
Rated: 6th-7th Years [Reviews - 2007]

Summary: Ten years have elapsed since Dumbledore's death and McGonagall has Hogwarts back on its feet again. Hermione and Malfoy both teach at the school. But when a new teacher is hired to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts, everyone seems to feel that they've met him before. A story of mystery, passion, friendship, and jealousy… not to mention that Harry Potter has been missing for ten years and Voldemort is dead. (All violence is mild).

So far, I liked it and will read on. I would normally review this early, but since you asked so nicely. Here are some thoughts:

God - how could you do that to poor old Malfoy? Actually I think it's quite funny, I'll just have to get used to the idea of a nice Malfoy who's disgusted by bad behavior.

I liked the introduction of Harry and the explanation you offered about Ron and Ginny, they seem plausible and I think using Hermione remembering was a good way to summarize the past events.

The only thing I would not agree with is McGonagall hiring teachers without even so much as an interview, even if she's desperate. But I understand that it's much easier and less confusing to start of your plot like that.

Well, so far well done. I liked it and am definitely intrigued.

Well, here's the next review from me.

You're moving the plot quite fast and while you could probably fit in more descriptions and things, I really enjoy it - there is no chance of getting bored while reading. Also you put in enough details to not make your plot feel rushed. So, well done.

I have to say I already love Kip Flaggan!!! I think he might be my favorite character in this fic. Also, in the scene with him Harry reminded me of Lupin/Dumbledore or a mix of the two. I don't know if you intended that, but I liked it and think that his character would develop into their direction since they were people he idolized.

Also, you had me bursting out laughing at the Malfoy scene about the spiders - I enjoy reading about this new Malfoy!

Nice cliffhanger at the end. Well, I got to read on, want to know where you're taking this - You certainly got me hooked.

Okay, I loved this chapter.

Malfoy and Kip (especially in combination) are hilarious. Malfoy thinking about the photo and Kip's rant are especially funny.

I also liked the way you ended the cliffhanger with a sort of awkward conversation between the two. It was a surprise to me, but a welcome one.

Furthermore the idea of letting Landon be an animagus and him becoming Hermione's "friend" in form of a cat is great. I also liked the flashback, because it hinted, but did not reveal.

I love it so far - your story has unexpected turns and is very entertaining to read with nice funny scenes in between that break up the tension.

The only thing I would want to criticize is that (based on the assumption that Landon is Harry) Harry's animagus form probably would not be a cat - but then I never thought much about what it would be, so never mind (unless you really really want to).

Again, I enjoyed your writing. I felt really sorry for Malfoy, but still love Kip - although he might loose my sympathy if his joke turns out to badly.

I liked Hermione and Landon (as usual) as well - the conversation was very believable, especially the topics they wanted to avoid.

Summary: Lord Voldemort is dead. Here’s to a happily ever after. Or not. Life after the war is far more complicated than anyone expected. After a devastating blow to the family so early, the Potters are left reeling - but this is only the beginning. With the death of outright evil, something more subtle has taken its place, and one wizard may not be enough. This time, it takes the whole family.
Sequel to All for All, but you do not need to have read that to understand this.

Interesting - I really like it! Just out of interest: where did the mage idea come from? Was it your own or did something inspire you? (sorry, I'm awfully nosey)

Author's Response: Hm, you know I'm not sure? This fic has been in the works for so long... I think I just wanted a step up from wizardry and I picked a name. And there's no need to apologise, it's always flattering when someone shows an interest in your writing - I only wish I could give you a more articulate answer! Thank you for your review, I'm glad you're enjoying it so far :) HK

Wow, I love your writing style and the whole plot - especially the portrayal of the Malfoys, especially Narcissa. I am writing my extended essay on key Death Eaters and the family love of the Malfoys is one of my topics and I researched it quite a lot. I, definitely agree with Narcissa loving her son no matter what and hope that Lucius will get around too. I would imagine his initial reaction to be something like this, it just fits his character as Rowling wrote - so thank you so much for one of the most awesome fanfics I've ever read.

Author's Response: Wow! Thank you so much. Your lovely review means so much.

Love it! I guess Ron would indeed be laughing his arse off - I am! Also, you made my day by getting me to imagine Lucius's face when Harry calls him dead - I am going to burst out laughing at random intervals for several days, whenever that picture comes into my head!

Author's Response: I suspect it would be an interesting expression. Poor Lucy. Thanks for the review!

Of Misfits and Fighters by huff-slyn-dor-claw

This story follows the life of a muggle-born genius, a mess-haired half-blood, a ginger blood traitor, and a struggling pureblood. In a world where they are pariahs, they are looking for a place to call home. And so begins a quest to find change within the systems of government and more importantly to find somewhere, anywhere, to belong.

I really enjoyed this chapter!

Harry's characterization is accurate and fitting - he would certainly go to the duel, but still feel guilty about it. Dean, Seamus and Ernie are also in character - so, well done on the characterization part!

I don't really mind you making Teddy a little bit older - he's adorable!

Furthermore, while you're still introducing the scenario in this chapter there are some first plot developments, which you'll hopefully make full use of later.

Overall, very well written and quite gripping (seeing as you are still in the "introduction phase") - I look forward to reading more and to seeing which other characters you will include!

Just one little thing: in the original Dean is muggleborn, so technically he should not live in the same part of town as Harry in your AU, right? But really that's just a minor thing I noticed.

Author's Response: Thank you for all the feedback! It really does help! and the whole Dean thing, I just needed another familiar face in Harry's room! :) Thanks and keep reading! :)

Interesting idea. I quite liked it so far, of course it is too early on to know where you are going to take it - but so far, so good.

I particularly thought the introduction to the scenario via a sort of textbook text was a nice touch which avoided confusion as to what was going on right at the beginning .

Hermione's portrayal seems very fitting, so does that of Harry, although we obviously haven't seen a lot of him yet. If you continue in this manner, it should be a very nice read as long as you have a good and plausible plot.

Therefore, good luck. I liked it so far and am looking forward to reading more.

Author's Response: Thank you. I am trying to thicken my plot more! I'm looking for a beta reader to help me :)
