Summary: “Muggle-born, eh?” said the first man.
“Not sure,” said Dean. “My dad left my mum when I was a kid. I’ve got no proof he was a wizard, though.”
Dean Thomas’ life is a mess. While the Trio were Horcrux-hunting and the Gryffindors were reforming Dumbledore’s Army, he was on the run. Living on his wits, he paired up with Ted Tonks, only to see him killed by Death Eaters.
He spent a year away from Hogwarts dreaming of a day he could return, but as September 1st 1998 approaches, he realises he cannot go back.
There are things he needs to do and a past he needs to discover before he can move on.

Chapter 1: Chapter 1 - Fathers and Sons.
I've been waiting so long for an update! I absolutely love the character of Dean and I feel as though you portrayed what we didn't see of his character very well. Please don't let the story go unfinished!
Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing. I really do want to finish this story, but I get too distracted by other things. *sigh*. I will make a concerted effort with this one though because I do know where it's going and what develops.

What if the characters in the Harry Potter films were portrayed—not by actors—but by the book versions of themselves, as created by Rowling? How might things unfold on that set? What would the characters think of the changes made from the stories they’d already lived out… to the ones written for the script?
This fic is a series of one-shots, posted as chapters, each from the perspective of a different character who is dealing with the changes occurring between the book and the script.
Holy Movie Canon, Batman! This fic won the 2011 Quicksilver Quill Award for Best Chaptered Humor Story. Thanks so, so much!

Chapter 3: Saving It for Seven
Clever. Very clever. I admit that I enjoyed the movies for what they were but this made me realize how much better the books really are. For a sec I was like like shoelace? Ohhhh SHOELACE! Ha, it made me laugh. Please say you're going to do the Christmas scene from HBP. After I saw the movie I was flipping through the book like where the heck was that? lol
Author's Response: Haha... I'm not planning to do the Christmas scene exactly, but chapter five will be Harry/Ginny, and could include a reference. Do you mean her offering him the pie? Hmm... I will think about it. It might be a nice addition. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing. I will get back to this eventually, I promise.
