Summary: What happens when Scorpius Malfoy takes on Lily Potter in the air?
Based on my fic 'High', this sonnet was originally written for The Diamond Challenge in Poetry, Anyone? over at the MNFF beta boards.
Hey, I've just read this, apparently...It's...cute. Haha, it's like I'm seeing the whole story 'High' in front of my eyes again with just a hundred words! :D
Don't get me wrong but I'm kind of getting fixated to your story and this one caught my attention because of it :). And I don't usually read and/or write sonnets or any other poetry, although I had surprised my friends a couple of weeks ago when I've done a great sonnet for my English project.
Anyway, I'm off to peruse some of your stories, trying to find another that might occupy me as much as 'High' did. *nods
Author's Response: Yay- thank you! Um, you might like Lavender, blue a Gryffindor true. That has a similar feel to it to High and explains more about Lavender and Blaise. Thank you so much for seeking out my stories :) <3 ~Carole~
Summary: Scorpius Malfoy is the Seeker for Slytherin. Not only that, he's the best Seeker at Hogwarts, and it's his catches that win matches. But this year things are different; Albus Potter has switched to Chaser and the new Gryffindor Seeker is his annoying little sister.
This is the story of how one match and one missed catch can change your life.
This story was accidentally deleted, so is being resubmitted ... very very quickly.
SQUEEEEE! High won the Best Next Generation QSQ award. Thank you so much for the everyone who has helped, either by beta'ing or encouraging me.
Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling. I'm not sure who I am at the moment, but there must be some Arthur Weasley blood in me.
Thank you Natalie (hestiajones) for doing the vast majority of the beta work on this, and Apurva for work on the early chapters
Squish for Natalie, Jess, Kara and Bob for helping me sort this out.
Due to an archive hissy fit regarding any story with a rating about 3rd-5th, I have temporarily lowered the rating on this story. However, I have NOT changed the content. This story is still a 6th-7th. You click at your own risk.
I really like Teddy's appearance in this chapter :)
And I love the way you phrased those lines about prejudice. Too right, prejudice exists on both of their sides.
I like your writing style and I'm looking forward to seeing more 'quote-like' lines on the next chapters...and sorry, I'm such a poly-reader that I tend to read different stories at once that's why it took me this long to read and review this chapter :)
This is great, by the way! I love it! :D
Author's Response: Thank you for the review and I'm glad you're enjoying the story. I'm a poly-writer - I work on several things at once. I'm glad you like Teddy because he turns up again at various stages of the story. ~Carole~
I couldn't help grinning at Scorpius' comeback at that Edgecombe! Ha! And hey, I really love their comments about the different Houses! Especially the sneaky Slytherins and chivalrous Gryffindors, :D
Author's Response: Slyths are just quite sexy really - HA! Thank you for the review. ~Carole~
Yay! Love the ending!! Couldn't stop smiling!!
"Parents can be so bloody embarrassing at times."--TOO RIGHT!
Love this chapter! My favorite, so far! And I love that Albus agrees with Scorpius on something :D
Author's Response: YES! Finally Scorpius and Albus agree about something. Thank you so much for the review. ~Carole~
I didn't think this could get any better!! Oh, can't wait to read the next =))))))
Author's Response: Thank youuuuuu. I hope you enjoy the rest. ~Carole~
I don't know why but I love the Lavender in this story more than the original one in the books.
I'm not quite fond of Ginny in this chapter than the original books, though.
Still, I really love this story! :))
Author's Response: Lavender in the books is a bit annoying, basically because she acts like most teenage girls who have their first serious boyfriend. In fanfiction she's perpetually cast as a fluffy-headed idiot and neatly forgetting that she was part of the DA and fought at the Battle of Hogwarts. I have a story called Lavender, blue - A Gryffindor true, which is compliant with this. You might like it (It's Profs rating though, the sexual situations are more full on)
As for Ginny, this is from Scorpius POV, so he sees only the prejudice she has for him. Now, I don;t think her opinion is valid, but I can sympathise with her because of the things she's been through. Plus the Weasleys are quite a prejudicial bunch at times (not so much Arthur). Ginny will hopefully become more Ginny from the books like as you read on. Thank you so much for the review. ~Carole~
Oh, I see now. That's why Ginny was acting that way...I wonder what the next chapter will be, but great chapter, as always!
Author's Response: Yay, you got to it. She's not quite as nasty as Scorpy thinks ... hee hee. Glad you're enjoying this and I hope your exam revision went well. ~Carole~
hellooooo!!! Okay, I just dropped off to tell you that I've read the story AGAIN and I'm still SOOOOOO looking forward to the next, and (*sobs*) last, chapter! And...I could already see you picturing me as a little kid grumbling to her mummy for chocolate ice cream...which I'm definitely not...I'm already ***teen. yep. Anyway, I'm being a useless reviewer here so I'm just saying that this story is really, by far, the best fanfiction I've ever read and I'm torn between excitement and sadness for the last chapter. Good luck with that. I know exactly how it feels when post the very last chapter of your story...I've done it once...in another site...after 49 chapters that took all my vacant hours...okay, I'll stop ranting about myself now. This should be about you/your story...sorry, couldn't resist :D
And by the way, don't apologize for the delay of posting the last chapter to ANYONE. Yep...don't...cause that'll just look like WE have more power over this story than YOU do...which isn't right/true...because you're the AWESOME WRITER and we're just the really impatient readers...
Oh well, have a good day! And I'll just wait here til' that moment comes when I opened Firefox, looked in the bookmarks, and find the one entitled 'High'. And just so you know, it took me more than ten minutes to write this review, which is more like babbling than an actual review, but well...I think I've drank too much brandy...
Okay, I'll stop ranting/babbling/rambling now...looking forward to your last chapter (and review responses) *eep
Author's Response: Thank youuuuu. I've been giggling and sighing with delight over this review for several days now, and trying to think up an adequate response. Failed miserably! ha ha. Okay, thank you, really, for the support, encouragement and kind words for the story. I am hoping to get the last *sob* chapter up before Christmas, or very soon after, but I don;t want to rush it. There's a few loose strands to tie together and maybe the possibility of a new story afterwards. It's been lovely reading your reviews ~ Carole~
Ugh, I don't know how come Al was such a prat here...Anyways, I hope Lily and Scorpius will come around soon. I just simply love the pair of them together =)
Author's Response: Okay, bear in mind that this is all from Scorpius' POV and they've never liked each other. Albus is a bit of a prat but Scorpius isn't entirely blameless. ~Carole~
I want Lily and Scorpius back...but great chapter, by the way. I really like Teddy's random appearance. :)
Author's Response: well, there are a few chapters to go, so perhaps they won't be apart for long ... Teddy might very well crop up again ... randomly. Thank you for reviewing. (I like your user name, btw. It's cool) ~Carole~
Hey! I'm back to reading this again after a busy week! Yay!
This story just gets better and greater the more I continue reading (even if I've stopped reading this for a few days)! I was just wondering about what'll happen to Scorpius and Lily now that their parents know about them, especially Scorpius'...
I guess I should just continue reading to find out =)))
Author's Response: I missed you - hee hee. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. Yes, you need to keep reading to find out ... ~Carole~
Oh, I love how great things happen when Teddy appears in a chapter :)
Author's Response: I'm not ashamed to admit it, but Teddy came close to stealing the story away from Scorpius at one point. When this is finished, there will be some spin-offs and Teddy will be in them at some point. I loved his Mum and Dad so much in the books, so I want good things for him. Thanks again ~Carole~
I wonder how hard it was to be in the position he was in...Good chapter, by the way! :D
Author's Response: Thank youuuuu # New Chapter up, by the way. ~Carole~
I love your story! Really. This is like, my second favorite Scorpius/Lily story. My favorite ('The Inquisitor's Son', on Fanfiction.Net) is also written in Scorpius' POV. I think it's much fascinating to read fics on a man's point of view, like reading a Lily/James fic with James' POV, or reading a Dramione on Draco's POV.
And you've done writing this beautifully as far as I'm concerned. I'm still loving it. And you deserve every review you receive, even if (from your end notes) you've lost more than a hundred. :)
Author's Response: I like writing from a male POV as well, oddly. If you like Dramione, I have a story called Shrouds which you might like. The POV is shared between Draco and Hermione, though. For James/Lily stories, there's a great author here called gmariam who has written a lot of J/L. Friendly Competition and One to Remember are from James' POV. Her other stories are more mixed between James and Lily. Any way - tahnk you for the review. ~Carole~
I'm getting more and more engrossed in this story! And I should've been focusing on my exams today...
Author's Response: ooops, get on with your exams! Actually, chapter ... um ... 17, I think, is about exams ... Good luck and thank you for reading. ~Carole~
Hey, I couldn't stop smiling by myself while reading this! It's really good! Only the beginning, and yet, it seemed to fill me with loads, already! :D
I'm almost one hundred percent sure I'm not going to regret continuing reading this. Anyway, this is the first fanfiction I read on mugglenet, because I've been reading and writing on fanfiction.net ever since. I'm really glad I came across this story (and this site), because I've also been writing a Lily/Scorpius story on fanfiction.net. I don't usually read a Lily/Scorpius story because I tend to mix it up with my own...Anyway, I don't post stories here, yet, and I assure I won't grab your own ideas on mine :)
Great job, by the way! I'm looking forward to more awesome chapters! :D
Author's Response: Thank you very much. I tend not to read other Scorpius/Lily stories either, just in case it skews my own. So, thank you for reading. I hope you don;t regret reading because this is almost finished. I have a chapter to post and a chapter to write and then it's done (which has made me quite sad *sigh*. LONG LIVE SCORPIUS/LILY! ~Carole~
I absolutely love the dueling part...and Scorpius' sly remarks...but the ending part...I'm itching to read what happens next! :)
Author's Response: Thank you ... read on ... but you have exams! ~Carole~
This is really the most different yet the most captivating Scorpius/Lily story I've ever read! I'm so glad I've found this story! Every chapter seems to be getting better than the last and there are just loads of new stuff that you kept putting that I'm getting - I couldn't even think of the right word! I'm really getting more and more caught up here :)
Author's Response: Yayyayayayayayay - thank you so much. I'm glad you're enjoying this story because it's been a lot of fun to write. I'm nearly at the end, though. *sob* ~Carole~
OH MY GODRIC!! I love you, gurl!!! Yayayayayayayy!! ♥
Author's Response: *bows* Thank youuuuuuuuuuuu. I liked this chapter, too. ~Carole~
This is simply just getting better and better! You're an incredible writer, I just couldn't stop reading this every day! I hope they'll be out in the public soon :D
Author's Response: Ohh, hmm, which chapter are you at? - Ha! Thankyou very much for the review and the compliments. I love this pairing rather a lot. ~Carole~
