Grave Days by Northumbrian
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 117]

Summary: Front page: THE DAILY PROPHET 4 May 1998

Editors Note: At the request of the Ministry for Magic this Official Statement issued by the Office of the Minister is produced full and unedited.

This official statement has been compiled with the assistance and co-operation of Mr Harry Potter.

“Lord Voldemort” was, in fact a man named Tom M. Riddle, son of a witch, Merope Gaunt and a Muggle, Tom Riddle Senior. The Ministry has decided that in all future official publications Riddle will be referred to by his given name.

There has already been much speculation and wild rumour regarding the events at Hogwarts School. The Ministry can confirm that Tom M. Riddle was killed at dawn on the morning of Saturday, 2 May. Riddle was disarmed by Harry Potter while in the act of firing a killing curse at Mr Potter. The curse killed Riddle rather than its intended target.

Continued on page 4

Despite the Official Ministry Statement (published above) we are no closer to receiving an answer to the question on the lips of every witch and wizard in the country. Where is Harry Potter?

It appears that Mr Potter left Hogwarts School early yesterday morning, apparently in the company of his close associates Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley. An attractive young Ministry clerk, who did not wish to be named, told The Prophet “He’s at the Ministry, having an important meeting with the Minister. My friends and I saw him. He asked us out to the pub, but we had to turn him down.” This statement is at odds with a report from the Portkey Office that Mr Potter has fled the country, travelling to Australia with his companions.

The days after the battle were days of grief and mourning. Grave Days.

I've just spent the better part of yesterday and today rereading this. A marvelous piece here; it was nice to reread the "beginning" with some hindsight. :)

Author's Response: Katie
Thanks for the review. I keep thinking that I really should amend this. It contains a number of grammatical errors. However, I'm still rather fond of this as it introduces Fenella and establishes "my" future for many of the minor characters.

Summary: "There are many stories between the lines." - Jo Rowling, about the Black Family Tree.

Cedrella's goal all her life has been to be the perfect Black. She has impeccable manners, commands respect, is always composed, and has never had a friend in her life. But Cedrella has a secret that is about to get a lot more complicated…

Septimus is the youngest of seven Weasley brothers. His dearest wish for his seventh year at Hogwarts is to meet the mystery girl he once saw dancing in the Owlery in the dead of night…

This story is a romance, but it is also a story about family, owls, and what it feels like to know you are worth something.

Aww. I'm so sad that this story is over! This was very good and I loved every little bit of it. You're a very good writer. I hope you can find it in you to write a sequel or something else along the lines of this. Once again, great story! :D

Author's Response: thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Moon by Northumbrian

**WINNER in the BEST ORIGINAL CHARACTER (Mark Moon) – Quicksilver Quills Awards 2010.**
Meet Mark Moon, a bailiff in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement (Scottish Office). Mark has girl problems, or a problem girl, he isn't certain which. The girl is named Lavender.

I've read this before and thought I'd re-read it while my homework sat idle nearby. As I was reading, in Chapter Four, there was al line: "She was Lavender Brown, the werewolf, the only living Auror to have despatched a vampire." I was curious about this. Has this been mentioned in any of your stories? Or a piece of Lavender backstory we have yet to come across, like what will happen (supposedly) in Hunters and Prey? Just wondering, and I love Mark as a character. :) He is simply ideal.
- Katie

Author's Response: Katie
Thanks for the review. There are two chapters (and a rough plot outline of the rest) of a story called Exsanguination sitting on my hard drive. It is set immediately after the events of Bare and it is a M.I.T. story featuring Lavender, Susan and Bobbie. It also features Mark meeting Lavender for (what she thinks) is the first time. It isn’t, she’s simply forgotten him. You’ll see their first meeting very soon.
Mark is, I hope, nice and caring, but a bit ineffectual.

Please tell me you remember me.

This was excellent! I really enjoyed this and the depth you've given Theo! It brings to light a lot things that weren't in the books about him, but I do have one question. Did Theo really die in the Battle, or is my memory failing me?
All in all, great story!

I like the way you characterized Charlie. I haven't read a lot of things with Charlie, besides the books themselves, and I really think you've nailed him. How indeed did Charlie get there? I suppose Ginny and Harry could write it off by use of taxi, but I'm assuming that taxis aren't common in that area.

As always, looking forward to any stories from you. They are simply the best I've ever read besides Jo's. And they keep me from studying for my finals, which, are upon me. *grumbles*

Author's Response:
Katie, thanks for the review.

Charlie hardly appears in the books and he's a bit of a mystery to me. He lives and works abroad and is the most geographically remote of the brothers. How did he get there? Taxi isn't impossible, but will Harry and Ginny need to explain?

Thanks for the kind words. I try to fit my tales into JKR's "truth" as best I can. Next? I hope to finish the rather silly "Beard Hunters" before Christmas. Consider it a present (and thanks for reading) to all my readers.

This was good! Luna. Your interpretation of Luna, I feel, was spot on. But I noticed she wasn't married yet? I'm curious as to how Luna and Rolf met.
- Katie

Author's Response: Katie
Thanks for the review. In interview JKR said that Luna marries “much later in life” so that’s what will happen, she’s still only 27 or 28. If you want to know how Luna and Rolf met? Read ECCENTRIC, but don’t expect romance.

When I first read that Jacqui was getting on the back on the motorcycle, I was a little apprehensive. I was almost certain something would go badly; but it all worked out in the end. Mary got a taste of Luna...That was funny to read. I love how Luna is so straightforward and literal.
Looking forward to more Strangers, Aurors and Schoolgirls, and Hunters! :)
- Katie

Author's Response: Katie, thanks for the review.
Jaqui knew what she was doing, and so did Harry. Bikes aren't that unsafe. Luna is certainly straightfrward.
H&P is being beta read now. A&S isn't, sorry. But I'll try to get back to it soon.

Oh, what a lovely chapter! Do I detect an Undectable Extension Charm in the living room? I wonder what everyone else will say when the meet the colorful bunch? I loved seein the tiny glimpse into Harry's school mates lives, especially the lesser known characters.

Well, this has thoroughly pushed me back another hour from studying for finals next week, so I best get to it!

Author's Response: Katie
I couldn’t possibly comment on the use of an undetectable extension charm. :-D
You’ll find out fairly soon what Mary, Amanda, and the others think of the friends of the Potters. You’ll also meet a couple of magical latecomers.
Good luck in your finals.

Oh, poor George! His story is so tragic... He's so good with kids, though. I really liked this chapter, especially George's crack about the "crazy uncle". :)

Will there be more from the party? I wonder what other schenanigans could happen. Looking forward to more of any story! Cheers!
- Katie

Author's Response:
Thanks for the review.

George, I think, would be good with kids because of his stubborn refusal to grow up. There will be another party chapter, called Fireworks.

Brilliant. I love Ron. He's so...Ron.

I am a little confused about Harry's case, however. I recongize Dacia and Webb from previous stories, but did I miss Doxine Gray somewhere?

Looking forward to the next chapter, especially how all the Weasleys and others interact with the Muggles. :)
- Katie

Author's Response: Thank you.
I'm gald you think that Ron is ... Ron. I try to keep him in character, but older.
Dacia and Webb are merely names in this story. You don't need to know more that their names. Doxine? Look at Hunters and Prey.
Next, Jacqui meets some old friends of the Potters, and several people you've never heard of.

Very very good! I particularly liked the last line said by Ginny: "They're supposed to be in Sweden for a conference, and it starts in an hour." No doubt Jacqui will pick up on that, since I'm fairly confident one cannot get from England to Sweden in an hour by Muggle ways.

Looking forward to more of any story; they're all so good! :)

Hope you had a wonderful New Year. Here's to a prosperous 2013!
- Katie

Author's Response:
Thanks Katie.

You're right about Jacqui picking up on that line, it's an impossible trip, but it's merely a slip, isn't it? :-)

Next may be H&P, but it's more likely to be something else.

Thanks, and Happy New Year to you. Let's hope that I get more time to write.

A wonderful addition to this story! I absolutely loved all the interactions; you wove all the complications of hiding the wizarding secret while interacting with Muggles quite flawlessly.

Looking forward to more of any story! :)
- Katie

Author's Response: Katie, thanks for the review.
Not completely flawlessly, there were a few trifling issues. :-)
Next will almost certainly be a chapter of Hunters and Prey.

Moons by Northumbrian
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 38]

July 2010 and a young married couple are out for a relaxing and romantic day. An afternoon at the theatre, followed by a meal to bring back memories. It should be a fairytale day. Unfortunately, it is.

This is a sequel to Moon and is another story featuring Mark Moon (Best Original Character - Quicksilver Quills 2010). A lady named Lavender appears too.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
This particular glimpse into the Moons' life is almost over. The next chapter will be the last, and in it, you'll find out what the Auror Office does.

Looking forward to more stories from you! Cheers,

I hope to get the next chapter of H&P into the queue soon, and after that, A&S, probably. Two chaptered stories finished (this and "Haunted House") so I shouldn't start another, should I?

M.I.T.: Haunted House: Dead by Northumbrian
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 27]

A haunted house that isn’t haunted, a Muggle fortune teller who can’t actually tell fortunes and the legend of the Cursed Green Pearl! What happens when “the nation’s favourite television ghost-hunters” stumble onto something really magical? What (apart from a mysterious chest, a broken red stiletto and a corpse) lies within the topmost room of the Haunted Tower?

It’s time for the Auror Office’s Muggle Interface Team - Brown, Bones and Beadle - to investigate.

This is Northumbrian of Ravenclaw house writing for the 2011 Mysterious May Challenge in the Great Hall - Extra Credit Prompt

This is one of four mystery stories I wrote for the Challenge. Until now I’ve resisted editing this story as to do so will (I believe) mean that it can’t be judged as part of the challenge (editing after the closing date is cheating). I can’t wait any longer.

Author's Response: There will only be one more chapter to this rewritten and expanded story. You won’t have long to wait to find out the killer’s identity. I think I’ve given you enough clues. -N-

Aww! Adorable. Dress shopping is always fun. And Hermione and Luna make it interesting. Each time I went prom dress shopping, I bought the first dress I tried on. Of course, I had tried on other dresses, but always went back to that first dress.

Cheers! :)

"Dress shopping is always fun!" Seriously? I hate shoping for clothes, and so does my girl. She was absolutely no help to me with this chapter. The dress stuff was all research. I know nothing.

I wasn't expecting this to be updated anytime soon, but I'm glad you did! I liked this very much. Dealing with the press is irksome and of course, Harry and Ginny will receive all the attention. Looking forward to more (of any story!)

Author's Response: I wasn’t expecting this to be updated anytime soon, either. The idea for this chapter arrived, and was written very quickly. Next will be Moons, then Strangers (probably), but I’m working on a Ron/Hermione one-shot for a challenge, too. -N-

Surprise! I wasn't expecting this story to be updated, but I was happy that it was! This chapter was really good! Lavender suggesting the magazine idea was great. Of course, there would be so many different articles about Harry and Ginny. It's rather clever to see them sort through the articles.

Looking forward to reading more of any story! :) Cheers!
- Katie

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
This story (or series of wedding-relatted one-shots - I'm not sure what it is) will be updated when either I get the idea, or (like this one) someone makes a throwaway remark in a review and it sparks an idea.
Next (and soon) moore Strangers.

I was really moved by this. It really brought everything full ciricle. King's Cross was a brilliant way to go, for lack of a better word. Harry's lived a good life, a full life. It brought tears to my eyes. I feel sad for Hermione. The last of the four.
I love your stories. You always manage to pull them off brilliant and capture the essence of everything that Jo has created. Thanks for that.

I always knew that the final section would be Harry and Ginny a King's Cross. I'm certain that JKR wants a good life for Harry and his friends and I try my best to keep to JKR's vision, to capture the essence, as you say. Thank you.
