Eyes Wide Open by Melina Malfoy
Rated: 6th-7th Years [Reviews - 138]
Summary: In his sixth year at Hogwarts, Draco Malfoy begins his training as a Death Eater. Whether he likes it or not. When Hermione Granger is kidnapped and held prisoner at Malfoy Manor, Draco's life becomes even more complicated. She challenges everything he's ever believed, and draws feelings from him he never knew he could have. Witness their relationship unfold as Draco prepares to make a life-changing decision: to accept his family's destiny for him or to risk both their lives by turning his back on it all.
Loved this chapter! Glad that others were able to see that Draco isn't the cookie-cutter type marked by dark wizarding families.
Author's Response: Hey girl! Nice to hear from you, as always! I really worked to make this chapter believable, because each character views Draco in a slightly different light. It would have been too fake to have everyone just forgive him immediately and envelop him in hugs. Many of them need time to adjust to this new Draco. I'm glad that you liked how I handled it. I look forward to hearing what you think of the next chapter. Thanks, hunny! Luv, Stef :)
I'm glad that Hermoine realizes his changed mind and genuine concern. Great update! Also, the part about the car was very creative.
Author's Response: Thanks so much, hunny! Hermione has definitely realized that Draco is not who he used to be, but the question is: will the Orders members even give him a chance to prove it? Eeep-I'm so glad you liked the car stuff. I kind of parallelled Lucius and Arthur in their interest in how Muggle things work, but for polar opposite reasons. And Draco sneaking out to learn something he wasn't supposed to learn is so, well...Draco! Looking forward to what you think of the next chapter. Thanks again! Luv, Stef :)
AMAZING chapter! So glad that he is (hopefully) getting her out of there.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I always look forward to your comments. Keep your fingers crossed for our hero and heroine! Luv, Stef :)
Great update! Very intense! Love that we are seeing a new side of Draco.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm glad you like the new side of Draco. I think he'd gotten so screwed up by his family, their beliefs, and their loyalties to Voldemort that he didn't know how to handle it. He's 16 and growing up, and for the first time he's discovering his own beliefs, his own convictions, and noticing how they are growing farther apart from those of his family. Hermione is challenging everything Draco ever believed in and he's having his eyes opened for the first time. I always thought that Draco was a product of his environment and that, given the right set of circumstances, he'd find the goodness within him and let it out. Thanks for your wonderful words, hunny! Can't wait to hear what you think of the chapters to come!! Luv, Stef :)
Wow, such a powerful chapter! He should've let her go and ran into hiding or something. lol What in the world is going to happen to the two of them when Bellatrix sees how Hermione is now?
Author's Response: Thank you- this was noe of my favorite chapters to write. :) Next chapter- the you-know-what is going to hit the proverbial fan. Draco letting Hermione go? Go into hiding? Hmmmm... ;) Thanks again for you review- it means an awful lot. Keep reading and reviewing!! Luv, Stef :)
Great chapter! I love how Hermoine's dad is giving Draco a chance.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! He's definitely trying- after all, if Draco really did save his little girl's life, he owes him everything. If Draco is lying, well...you know how protective good fathers are of their daughters! Keep reading and reviewing- I really appreciate your comments!! Luv, Stef :)

Finally caught up! Very interesting storyline with the hag. So, so glad that Hermoine and Draco are back together! I'm eager to see how the Goyle situation turns out.
Finally caught up! Very interesting storyline with the hag. So, so glad that Hermoine and Draco are back together! I'm eager to see how the Goyle situation turns out.
Author's Response: Nice to see you are continuing to follow the story. I think the interaction with the Hag was one of the first things I thought of for this story. Glad you found it interesting. Thank you, Jenny
The Nagini theory is a very interesting twist! Well done!
Author's Response: Thank you. I hoped it didn't seem too farfetched. Glad to hear you liked it. --Jenny
:( I understand where both Draco and Hermoine are coming from. It's unfortunate that Hermoine never had a chance to talk to Draco before Ron showed up.
Author's Response: They'll talk it all out, eventually. I'm big on talking and clearing things up directly. But bear with me through a few chapters of separation. Thank you for your review, Jenny
Love the update! That darn Tabor though....
Author's Response: He is trouble, that's for sure. :-) Thanks for the review, Jenny
Very interesting chapter! How unfortunate that Mrs. Malfoy came home! Can't wait to find out who the nephew is!
Author's Response: Some things you are going to have to wait for story # 3 for, because freshman year is almost over. Thank you for your review, and for hanging in with my story until the end (or almost). Thanks, Jenny
Great updates! Very interested to see how the probable horcrux plays out!
Author's Response: I'm glad that storyline caught your interest. Thank you for your review, Jenny
You are writing a third installment right?! lol I love this!
Author's Response: Yes, I am. I have all kinds of fun ideas I'm organizing for their sophomore year! I should start posting in August -- I like to be about half way done before I start posting and I don't write in order. I typically start midstream and jump around a lot. Thank you for following my stories, Jenny
That Tabor better not try anything else on Hermoine. If he causes harm between her and Draco, then he's going down. ;) haha
Author's Response: I'm glad you're ready to fight for Draco and Hermione, but Tabor is not going to give up too easily, I'm afraid. ;-) Thank you for your review, Jenny
Love that they are now open with their relationship! And so glad that Harry will stick by her.
Author's Response: I thought that would be consistent with Harry's personality, plus I'm guessing Ginny has dropped a few hints. Funny that I would have to guess at such a thing, since I'm writing the story. But sometimes these things take on a life of their own (especially since they are JKR creations, not mine)! Thanks, Jenny
Love it! :)
Author's Response: Thank you, Jenny
Oh my gosh. :( This was seriously such a sad chapter. I can't believe (well I can, but you know what I mean) Draco is acting so freaking hurtful towards her. I understand she hurt him, but my goodness.
Author's Response: Sorry about that. My sense is that throughout my stories, I've made Draco into too much of a nice guy. So this break-up allows me to keep him consistent with who he was in the books. Spoiler alert -- there's a happy ending on the horizon. Thanks for your review, Jenny
Loved all of the updates! Very interested to see how the snake theory plays out!
Author's Response: I've already posted the next chapter, so things are moving right along. Thank you for your review, Jenny
Yay! It's fixed! Awesome chapter. :)
Author's Response: Thank goodness! I happy you liked the chapter, once you were able to read it! :-) Thanks, Jenny
