I was an idiot who avoided the hype of HP until the first movie came out. It wasn't until I read Goblet of Fire in preparation for the 4th movie, however, that I finally understood what made HP so great. Since then I've read every book numerous times, and hold the 5th movie and 7th novel dear as I had just learned I was pregnant when they were released. My daughter's middle name is Rose, and she is truly magical.
I've been busy writing several more fanfictions - I can't stop. Hopefully I'll be able to get them posted before the year's out. Here's a sneak peak of what I've been working on:
'Harry Potter and the Red Snitch'
Starts the day after the Battle of Hogwarts and follows Harry and Ginny over the next few years.
Completed except for some tweaking in the middle (anyone interested in helping?) Having trouble posting this story, however :(
Exactly as it sounds - the 'conversations' Ginny Weasley and Tom Riddle had during her first year at Hogwarts (the Wizarding version of IMing).
This story is more challenging than I expected, so it might be awhile before it's finished.
What began as a song parody of 'What Was I Thinking?' has turned into book seven from Draco's POV.
I've written about ten chapters so far. Parts are easy while others are more difficult, so hopefully it won't be too bad.
'Harry and Ginevra'
Another song parody based on 'Jack and Diane' that needs a lot of work. What makes it worse is trying to decide if it should be a pre- or post-war song.
'Show Your Face'
Just wrote this poem today about a well known object from the series.
Enjoy reading but not writing? I'm open to more ideas :)
Summary: Harry gets his first pair of glasses, and Petunia vows never to take him shopping again.
Great story about the origin of the glasses and keeping Harry in the dark Bout his abilities. I believe you really captured the essence of Rowling's writing in your descriptions, too. Well done!
Summary: After the trauma of his sixth year Harry and his friends enter into their last year of magical education at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The trio try to balance passing their exams with fighting Voldemort and planning their futures. Despite all that, romance will fill the air with wedding bells ringing out. This year Harry is in more danger than ever when his enemy finds new ways to try and get the Boy Who Lived. Voldemort’s presence will be felt more than ever as he steals more lives; can Harry find himself before its too late? And what adventures will he have along the way?
If you haven’t read Harry Potter and The Girl Who Lived then I would strongly urge you to do so because if you don’t then this story probably won’t make any sense to you. Be helpful to writers by Reading and Reviewing!
The very last chapter of this fic has been reworked. Please re-read there's more about the kids in there! Also my author's notes on the final chapter have also been added. Ten part fic related to this going up shortly!!
The last paragraph really nailed our heroes.
Oh, what a wise,wise Dumbledore...err,author.
I had a dream about this chapter.
In this chapter and the previous I liked the personal touches you put into the family residences.
Enjoyed the paragraph about how the women all prepare for the ceremony. I've already read some chapters past this one and think it's great how you have a sense of humor about the strange things we females do.
I thought you did a fine job on the song.
Loved the poem - I would have married Ron, and we have nothing in common.
Summary: [Year 1: Complete] Harry's a Slytherin and friends with Draco Malfoy. How will his years at Hogwarts turn out, now that he's a Slytherin? Will he turn to the Dark Arts and be a follower of Voldemort? Or will he kill Voldemort, or die trying, after he learns of the prophecy? Will Harry's choices lead him down a different road? Follow and you will see..."The first step, my son, which one makes in the world, is the one on which depends the rest of our days." -Voltaire
It was fun seeing a different person's take on this "what if story." I think it was creative of you to change canon details to make the story your own, and even wording of similar conversations make sense to be different comsidering the alternate circumstance. I also liked the quotes at the beginning of each story.
Summary: Harry has just left Privet Drive for the final time to return to The Burrow for the wedding. It does, however, appear that things are changing. Will it affect the journey the trio are preparing to take?
This story follows on directly from book six and follows the events of Harry, in what would have been his seventh year at Hogwarts.
I'm curious to know what you thought Dumbledore would have left Harry. Too bad you didn't have time to finish the story before the final book was released.
Summary: The Harry Potter Literary Storm has caused quite the sensation around the world, JK Rowling’s magnificent series of books touching the hearts of people of all ages. But what if Harry Potter was never written by JK Rowling in the first place? What if another genius was behind it?
Many thanks to the fantastic people who nominated this story for the Quicksilver Quills: Best Humour Fiction award. I'm truly flattered.
Chapter Seven, Part Five is now up - yes, that is the final chapter!
The "secret" section had me laughing out loud! Liked the ending of the book summary, too. I'd keep reading if I didn't need to get up in 5 hours.
OMG, so glad HP is better than that :p Can definitely see the tie-ins and origins, but what's up with Lily's supposed infidelity? Funny how you have Happy worry about title and author first.
Looking forward to seeing where this goes.
Stating the obvious, repeats, and Superman (will that be in all chapters? Hope so) make this worth the read.
... And he Turned Around Snobbily and Strutted Away by Mind_Over_Matter
Rated: 1st-2nd Years [Reviews - 64]
Summary: "Strutting around the place with his friends and admirers..." ~Professor Snape, PoA
There may be some reason behind Snape's words.
That was fun. It's a great feeling when you have one of those days worthy of a strut or ten.
And once again an enemy takes a sole example and applies it to everyday life. Well done. Looking forward to 'Literary Storm.'
Summary: 2008 QSQ Awards Runner-up for Best Post-Hogwarts
Harry defeated Voldemort. Harry married Ginny. Harry and Ginny had five children. Harry disappeared. My name is Lily Potter, and this is the story of what happened when my father returned after six years missing to find my mother about to re-marry. This is the story of myself, my crazy family, and most of all, this is the story of my parents and the man who tried to come between them. (pre-Deathly Hallows)
"Oh, I can so die happy now!" -Sirius Potter
I enjoyed Lily's humor and your in depth descriptions throughout the story. I was glad to see there was a physical reason to Ginny's "madness," and had a hunch our favorite Slytherin just might have something to do with it. Loved Ginny's wedding speech! Well done.
Summary: New Year's Challenge #2, "Dreams", written by suckr4romance of Hufflepuff House.
A two-part fan fiction telling the part of the founders' story--a crucial part. It is told from the point of view of Helga Hufflepuff, in tribute to my House.
Great mysterious beginning.
Some of the characters' speech reflected the earlier time period nicely. Also enjoyed the poem.
Summary: An alternative first year fic that contemplates what Harry's life could have been like if James and Lily had survived. Starts from when they have to elect a Secret Keeper to the end of Harry's first year of Hogwarts.
I wish you had finished this story as I'm curious to various interpretations of what Harry's life would have been like had his parents survived.
Summary: *Deathly Hallows Spoilers*
What if Harry had a chance to tell Ginny how he felt before his walk into the forest that occurred in the last chapters of Deathly Hallows? What would he say to her? Oneshot.
(Alternate Universe because this scene didn't actually happen)
Please Read and Review! Lots of reviews make for a happy author!
The sequel to this story is called To See Him Again
How sad. Liked the way Ginny put her pain into perspective. On to the sequel...
