Summary: James Potter: Marauder. Lily Evans: Prefect. They're both seventh years at Hogwarts. They're also about to have a pretty interesting year--complete with a few detentions, pranks, confusion, and laughter--in which they get through school, make some trouble and maybe, just maybe, sort out their feelings for each other.
Thanks to all you who have made it possible for this story to be in the Top Tens. It was a very happy moment when I first saw my story on the list, and I love being able to go back and see it there now. Still. Yay!
Throughout the latter half of 2010, and the first half of 2011, I re-edited this story. The changes were mostly to fix stray (and annoying) grammar and spelling errors, but also to rework some plot points in an effort to stay truer to canon. I also updated the style; having written this story so long ago, my writing has definitely developed (and I would say gotten better), so I edited to reflect that. (I apologize for the errors that were in the story before all this editing. I found them immensely distressing when I reread my chapters. Heartbreaking, really.)
Big “thank yous” go to the three people who helped edit/nitpick the first edition of this novel: violagirl, fairiesandcream, and Omagus.
And yes, this story is up on Fanficition.net under the penname: Io.Sono.Emilia.
Of course, as a disclaimer, I’m not JK Rowling. The Potterverse does not belong to me, but I am in it and love it.
First, I must say that you are an amazing and imaginative author. Through all the tomatoes thrown and tears shed you have had such a great spirit and appreciation for betas and readers. Thank you so much for writing a beautiful and complete story.
Second, I completely agree with the whole Remus and Jo thing. It was too cliche and wouldn't have worked out although I am a huge fan of cliched things. The Nikeia and Sirius however much sense it may make will cause many a gritting of teeth.
P.S. Nitwit… oddment… blubber, and tweak
Summary: James and Lily were known for giving their lives for their only son. That night, the night that Voldemort came and ended their lives, they talked about their possible future. And their love endured even unto death. ONE-SHOT based off of Garth Brook's song, If Tomorrow Never Comes.
Not completely canon but still a lovely story. Thank you.
Summary: Lily Evans has just about everything to deal with. James Potter, NEWTS revision, James Potter, annoying friends, James Potter, song writing for the "Cheer Up" Christmas Ball and James Potter are just a few of them.
It was only natural that she should put off the song-writing until the very last minute.
Sitting by the fire of the Gryffindor common room, she searches desperately for inspiration. Her eyes land on James Potter. She begins to write...
Beautiful, and to have Lily announce her decision to the whole school was brilliant. Thank you
Summary: "Wherever we are, whatever we’re doing, all I need to know is that you’ll be right there, by my side, like this. I’d give my last breath for you, Lily. I love you." Little LJ oneshot.
It's a lovely snapshot into what James and Lily were doing the last moments of their lives. You also captured James so well when he's confronting Voldemort, great job! It also made me cry.
Summary: It's the summer before Lily Evans' seventh year, and she can't stop thinking about a certain boy.
This is a songfic to the song 'A Minute Without You' by Hanson
All of James' antics were cute. I mean, using parchment that was green?! The ending was really cute as well. Thanks.
Summary: James and Lily spend their summers together producing plays, though neither are happy about the presence of the other. With James, as the set designer, and Lily, as the actress, tensions run high.
wonderfully written and you captured my attention so well!
Summary: Lily liked stability and security in her life. As Lily enters into her seventh year at Hogwarts, she’s eager to be surrounded once again by the same friends, students, classes, professors, and rules. Instead she finds her thoughts in disorder and feelings toward a particular Gryffindor student whirling dizzyingly around in her mind. It all started, and where this story begins, at the end of Lily’s sixth year where an unexpected conversation brings to light new information.
It was a beautifully well written story and I really liked the latin? titles. My favourite part was when Lily had to choose between James and the giant squid. It was a very original idea and captured the essence of their relationship in a humorous way.
Summary: I'm not really sure how or when it happened. I'd say somewhere between when he saved my life (and didn't even mention it!) and our late-night conversation. Or maybe in third year, but I just repressed it. No matter when it happened, something clicked with James Potter, and I felt like a fool. Especially when I learned that he had a girlfriend. Hopefully with stories of a nude Petunia and my charm, he'll see the light.
This will be six chapters.
I think that the little side note at the end of the story made it. Thank you.
Summary: Lily Evans always had choices. But this is the hardest one she's ever had to make. Severus or James? Loyalty or love? Severus' happiness or her own? And can she ever forgive James?
I had to read this three times. It was so good and there was a lot that I could read into. Lily's voice was portrayed so eloquently and her thoughts were just so Lily-like. thanks.
Summary: They are all talented, some more than others. Some play Quidditch. Others are known for their brilliance in academics. They are the Marauders and a group that has lain in the shadows up to now, called the Lady Firebrands, known for their hot tempers and rather subdued practical jokes.
Romance will bloom.
Rivalries will blossom.
The author will try to stop using so many bad plant puns.
The story of Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs' NEWT years will be told.
These are the Amphibious Lizards.
I love it! The idea of Lily starting up a prank group was ingenious and the pranks themselves are original. Can't wait for next chapter!
Summary: You’re here. Of course you’re here. No matter what I do, no matter what I say, you are there. Always.
Because there comes a time when we look over our shoulder and - whether we want it or expect it - see the one that will never leave.
[James x Lily]
Lovely drabble, I thought you penned Lily's thoughts wonderfully. The part with the saying that no parent should have to bury their child is beautiful. Nothing really to criticize on other than to keep writing like this! Thank you.
Summary: Assigned to work on a project together, James Potter and Lily Evans find themselves getting to know one another through a silly game James has devised. A light, fluffy, slightly cliche one-shot. "Don’t look at me like that! I’m going to behave today." *one-shot*
First, it made me cry. Second, the segments make it interesting and condensed. Third, favourite!
Author's Response: Thank you on all three counts! :)
Summary: After the disastrous events of the end of the Marauder's fifth year, a fuming Lily Evans decides that that arrogant James Potter and his friends need a taste of their own medicine. The straight-laced Prefect suddenly finds herself pranking her class's trickiest boys--and maybe even enjoying it. Coupled with a series of mysterious apology letters that Lily has begun receiving, it's bound to be an interesting year.
Winner of the 2010 QSQ for Best Canon Romance!
nice Charlotte's Web reference.
Summary: “Guilt brings people together. It’s a takes one to know one type thing.”
James Potter has always been a spoiled, arrogant, lazy show-off. When he enters his final year at Hogwarts School, he’s Head Boy . . . and he’s still a spoiled, arrogant, lazy, show-off. But because of that terrible summer, he’s also guilt-ridden.
Lily Evans has always been a self-righteous, impatient, temperamental know-it-all. When she begins her last year at Hogwarts, she’s Head Girl . . . and still a self-righteous, impatient, temperamental know-it-all. But the first night back — and the murder that takes the entire school by surprise — leave her guilt-ridden as well.
With the darkness that’s surrounding the Wizarding world slowly seeping, at long last, onto the grounds of Hogwarts and into the lives of James Potter and Lily Evans, what comes next?
James' POV was necessary and well written. Also opening with the end of the dance was a nice touch.
I'm guessing it was Grace but different people because Nora was killed using a curse but Jilly was killed using a physical object. So amazing!
p.s. Your notes at the end are really nice
The new Lily is a little bit scary. As is her new plan and the terribly well written ending to this chapter.
Summary: And there he was. The one boy she could not stand. His messy, jet black hair was ruffled and untidy and his glasses were sitting crooked on his nose. James Potter was here. With Lily. And all her Muggle friends. At a Muggle ski resort. Could things possibly be worse? Oh yeah, Sirius Black is there, too.
yay, next chapter! Wonderfully written and I really liked how you described Lily when she realized that her friends would treat her differently. Thanks~
Author's Response: I'm glad you like it! Thanks so much for reading and reviewing :)
Summary: The seven men who loved Hermione Granger.
Author's Response: :)
Summary: James Potter is Head Boy and Gryffindor Quidditch captain in his seventh year at Hogwarts. He has three best friends and his life seems perfect--except that Lily Evans, the only girl he's ever loved, can't stand him.
Lily Evans is Head Girl and top of their class. She's always been disgusted by James' arrogance, yet she can't seem to stop blushing when he's around.
As their Head Boy and Girl duties bring them together, can James find a way to win Lily's love?
A Different Kind of Magic has been nominated for the 2011 Quicksilver Quills: Best Canon Romance. Thank you!
It's a great start so far! Lily's gradual warming up to James is wonderfully written. Thanks.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm so glad you like it! :)
Summary: It's Valentine's Day, seventh year, and James Potter is determined to make it one to remember. Unfortunately, so many things go wrong that Lily Evans will probably remember it for all the wrong reasons.
it's great! I can't wait till the next chapter.
Author's Response: Thanks! I just posted it so I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for reading and reviewing! ~Gina :)
