Summary: My take on the first of those 'nineteen years' between the 36th chapter of DH and the epilogue.

Warnings: contains an unusually-shaped ring, a nosy neighbour, a rude shop assistant, shaving mishaps, thoughtful gestures, threatening goblins, and, unexplained appearances of Romantic!Ron and Romantic!Harry. You have been warned.

Rating is for *mild* innuendo and *mostly* innocent interactions but I wouldn't let my 9 year old read it.

Summary: James would do anything to get inside Lily’s head. Lily would do anything to get away from James. Lily was brewing a banned potion. James went to find her. Lily made a mistake and the potion exploded. James got his wish, but is it much more than he bargained for?

Now Complete!

After a year the Epilouge is now up! Come read for a bit of fun!!

Runner up QSQ - Best Chaptered Canon Romance

Reason for Nomination:
This is the most unique take on how James and Lily really got to know each other. The story is hilarious and keeps you laughing throughout, but it never lets you forget the serious stuff. Plus, she somehow manages to end each chapter with a nice cliffhanger.

This is a fun, original story. I am surprised that Dudley is beahving rather like his father (maybe we all do this as we age) - you think he'd be more comfortable with magic having lived on the periphery of the magical world. I liook forward to her experinces at Hogwarts.

Finding Her Voice by Belledeg

Summary: Harper Riley is one of the most gifted young witches of her generation. However, since the traumatic events of the Battle of Hogwarts, she has not spoken a single word. Her Muggle parents were killed, along with her two wizarding brothers, and she is on the run from her squib guardian, a sinful and harsh man with a strong hatred of magic.

Harry Potter is recently married and settled, however, his life seems to take on another dramatic turn when he and Ginny find Harper. Her refusal to speak makes things a lot harder for them to discover how to help her. Luckily, Harry knows someone who owes him a favour. Someone who he and Ginny may not like, but they trust. Someone whose profession is to help those who suffer from the Battle of Hogwarts, no matter their story…

If anyone can get her talking again, it’s Blaise.

I loved this story. Harper and Blaise are passionate, believeable characters. I am reading Jemzi now and went looking for some of your previous work and was delighted to find this story.

Author's Response: Thank you, I'm really glad you're enjoying my writing :D

Summary:

Growing up as Albus Potter was not an easy task, and being the son of the Chosen One wasn't a piece of cake, either. Expectations of greatness have the startling ability to crush someone, especially an eleven-year-old boy.

Join Albus Potter in his rocky journey to adulthood and what it's like to live, to learn, to love, to lose, and to be the middle child.

This story is going to be epically long, and yes, I will update. It may not come as fast as the updates to The Vindication of James Potter did, as I'm posting this as I write it, but I do promise that this story will not fall victim to apathy. Hopefully, you enjoy this story if you decide to read it. :)

Please don't stop here! It is a entertaining story so far - will Albus be badly hurt from his fall? I really like Neville - he's exactly as I imagined he would be as a teacher. I am not a Snape fan but feel some sympathy for him. Thanks for writing!

Author's Response:

Hello there. I'm glad you like my characters. I'd like to think that my portrayal of Albus is unique, which will come into play further down the line in the story. And I still wanted Neville to be himself, but also the snake-chopping ninja!Neville from DH. I think he's a nice mixture.

And I really do plan on coming back to this story down the line. I have two smaller WIPs that I plan on finishing up in the next month or so, which will free me up to update this story again. This story was always planned as something to do when I had nothing else to work on, but things never really worked out that way. I will finish it, because I've never not finished a story before, and I don't plan to start with the story that I'd always wanted to write from the day I started my fan fiction career. It may not be any time soon, but it will happen. You can take that to the banque. :)

Thanks for reviewing, and I'm glad you enjoyed what I have so far!

~Jess

Summary:

I didn't mean for this to happen. Really. My plan was to get through sixth-year without doing any more damage to myself. I've already wrecked so many good things in my life. I thought I was done with my self-destruction.

Apparently, I'm not. Because falling in love with Albus was not part of my plan.

I hope you are still working on this story because I have enjoyed it so far. I like Maddy and Rose. Scorpius quit palying Quidditch because it was too much effort? Wow! It alsways sticks when the guy you like talks to you about the girl he likes - poor Maddy! Thanks for writing.

Author's Response: Haha, like most teenage boys, Scorpius is lazy. Quidditch's too much effort for him. Thanks for your review!

Things Change by Gmariam
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 78]

Summary:

James Potter has changed: no longer an arrogant, irresponsible prankster, he has matured into a responsible Head Boy with tops marks in Transfiguration. Lily Evans has changed as well: normally studious and in control, she has lost focus as she struggles with Head Girl responsibilities and N.E.W.T level studies. An unexpected encounter in the corridors one weekend leads to several startling realizations, the least of which is that things have definitely changed between James Potter and Lily Evans.

This story was nominated for a 2010 QSQ and is now complete.

I really enjoyed this view of Lily. She is so often portrayed as annoyed, angry, etc - it is fun to see her be the initiator in the relationship. Poor James! He is clueless about what will come next.

Author's Response: A belated thank you for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed this Lily. This chapter was my original inspiration, this scene in the snow, under the cloak. It was only supposed to be two or three parts but ballooned from this. And yes - James doesn't really have things straight yet. But he will. :D Thanks again!! ~Gina :)

I like how you portrayed Remus in this story. I really hope that one of my favorite fictional characters had fun and happiness while he was young. He is often portrayed as less than happy as a youth. Poor Lily is so confused about how she treated James. I look forward to seeing how they resolve this situation. Thank you for writing such an entertaining story!

Author's Response: You are welcome! Thank you for leaving such a nice review! You know, sometimes the idea of Lily and Remus is very appealing when he turns out like this, lol. I'm glad you liked him. I hope he had a happy youth as well, given how terrible his adulthood must have been. Thanks again for the lovely review, I hope you enjoy the rest of the story! ~Gina :)

Poor Lily stuck on the stairs all night! She is lucky that Remus was able to help her. Did the cloak get left on the stairs? I am looking forward to the next chapter - this should be an interesting discussion. Thanks for writing!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! Good catch on the cloak, lol. I think one of them remembered it, though. ;) I also think the following discussion will be pretty straight forward, don't you? I love your James but he is an idiot for saying nothing to his friends. This chapter is sad but rings true - thanks for writing!

Author's Response: Thanks for reading! And I'm glad it rings true - it's based on personal experience, although (thank goodness) not with a parent. I think James is being an idiot as well, but unfortunately keeping his problems to himself is part of what I think his character would be. Oh well, we like him anyway. :)

Summary:

We are all influenced by the actions or inactions of our parents. The same is true of Scorpius Malfoy; he has been raised by an overly protective mother and a father who is still coming to grips with the mess that his own father made of his life. Scorpius knows that he will be judged at Hogwarts by what others know or think they know about his father and grandfather.

At Hogwarts Scorpius will meet:

Albus Potter the middle child of ‘The Great Harry Potter’ and Quidditch star Ginny Weasley Potter. A boy who not only has things to live up to but an older brother ready to remind him of who’s boss.

Rose Weasley, Albus’ surrogate sister/first cousin, struggling in her own way, not her mother’s way, to succeed.

Kaitlin Jones, daughter of Tornados player Owain Jones and favorite niece of Gwenog Jones, who is at home on a broom and lost almost everywhere else.

Jimber Dokes recent immigrant from the West Indies trying to fit his own magical heritage Vardoo with the Western style of magic taught at the school

Thad Vance, the Gryffindor Quidditch captain, his grandfather and all of his uncles and aunts were killed by Death Eaters, maybe Lucius Malfoy

Meanwhile in London, Draco and Astoria Malfoy try to build a new life and legacy by betting all they own on a Potions Shop in Diagon Alley.

Loved it. As the mother of a teen and preteen I might wish that James wasn't so drunk but I well remember the emotions of leaving high school and college and entering the real world to be an adult. I see how his condition was perhaps the only way for Lily to hear his fears. Thank you for writing - I enjoy all your work!

Author's Response: Hi! Thank you so much for the review! I'm glad you liked it. You know, I honestly hadn't thought about how James being drunk might not be the most morally responsible characterization of him for younger readers (my own is only three!) He is eighteen at this point, and as you said, on the cusp on adulthood and dealing with a lot, and yes, it was what got him to open up to Lily at the deepest level. I am now wondering if I could've gotten him to that point without the Firewhiskey, hmm. I am glad you still enjoyed it and really appreciate the review! ~Gina :)

Wow - this was great but painful to read. I have often wondered about the tranformation of Lily, James and the others from school kids to battle veterans. I think you did a really good job of showing the change. The painful part came from seeing them lose not really their ideals (Lily show she still has hers in place at the end) but their innocence that this would be an easy war. I have always wondered how it was that the Weasleys (who I thought had a part in the first Order) could not have met James and Lily. Thank you for adding it to the story. Well done!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I definitely think it's a bittersweet story, and to think that even as they lose they're innocence, they're still only nineteen, twenty years old -- still kids! I'm glad you liked their meeting with the Weasleys :)
