I think this is EXACTLY how he would have reacted! I can totally picture JKR writing a scene like this and I'm kinda depressed that she didn't... my heart aches for Snape because I can't imagine the regret he had to live with for the rest of his life. And it's not like she chose just anybody besides him, she chose JAMES.. which makes this even worse. This is a great and IC story! I could really feel his frustration and pain. :(
Author's Response: Aww. *blushes* Thank you very much. This is my first ever Snape/Lily story, and I just wanted it to see real yet give Snape a tiny bit more than what JKR gave him. He still didn't get the girl, but he got a kiss, and he got the affirmation that Lily truly saw him as her best friend.
