The Hufflepuff by Northumbrian

This is Northumbrian of Ravenclaw writing for the Great Bannermakers Hall Challenge

Started this one earlier at work on the iphone and will finish it shortly.

First, thanks for a PUFF story!! ;) from the Hufflepuff Common Room on Pottermore. I posted that this story was there, but as is everything on Pottermore right now, it's being moderated: it may post in a week or so, but I will keep trying.

I think my favorite part other than having a story about Hannah's mom's death, is the way you are tying this into A&S, Fred and George's Busy Day. Can't wait to get to the end to see if Mistiletoe Kisses gets a refrence somehow.

Will review again after reading the whole thing.

Is the Vampire the one that keeps niggling your plot bunnies for the Vamp story you keep hinting at??? I'm a Transylvania University grad (class of 1990) so I am always interested in a good vampire tale. Real place in Lexington KY.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
Ive had a Hannah story in the back of my mind ever since I wrote Fred and Georges Busy Day and Mistletoe Kisses. This story about Nevilles favourite Hufflepuff needed very little thinking about. The links to A&S were definitely deliberate. Its a pity that no one has thought to speak to Hannah.
I have a rough draft of a fluffy one-shot called The Professor and his Landlady which I keep tinkering with. So there will be more Hannah.
I have plans for Camelia Tepes (the vampire) and she will appear in "the vampire story", which is now called MIT: Exsanguination (it is: Brown, Bones, Beadle, Mark Moon, vampire, Whitby and London). Unfortunately, that story will be multi-chapter and Im not starting another chaptered fic until I finish A&S (early next year I hope).

YEAH!! Neville and Hannah are wonderful!!!

Never did like Romilda.

Author's Response: Thanks.
The entire point of Romilda (and Pansy, Draco, McLaggen etc. is that you aren't supposed to like them :D

Well worth the wait!!!

I was hoping (amd maybe it will end up in another one shot) for the ring Harry drew on Ginny's picture would show up under the bandages on her hand; she would know Harry was ready and she was actually off trying to track him down.

Can't wait for more

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
Sometimes reviewers can predict what's happening next. Sometimes (like this time) they make an observation which makes me think - "I hadn't though of that - can I do something with it?" :-D
Next? another chapter of Moons, and then more Drakeshaugh.

Neil, I would be honored, so do with it as you please.

But first, I do want to read about how the couples break (or realize) to the Weasley's.

Can't wait to see what you do with my idea!!
Wish there was some way to get in touch other than the review section.

Author's Response: Thanks, it won't be soon.
Nor will a Weasley scene, sorry.
There is, I think.

Ditto to everything Katrina said.

While I didn't tear up, if you write Ron's last days, the tears will fall.

I must say, that in the Drakehaugh Series, I had been shipping Al and Annie, I guess I was wrong. But now we have your backstories for those relationships to look forward to at some time.

I am still trying to figure out which of Gwenog's relations Lily married.

Again a WONDERFUL addition to your cannon.

Author's Response: Edyeb
Thanks for the review
I hadnt thought about writing Ron, because I rarely set my stories beyond now (currently October 2011). My only other future set story is the Augusta Longbottom chapter of Tales of the Battle, although my next one-shot Owl Post takes place in July 2016.
What makes you think its the same Annie (or the same Violet for that matter). As for Lily, she lives in Wales and Jones is the most common Welsh name.

HI Neil,

While you are whistling innocently (or not so innocently (haha), might I note that you were the one who brought up Violet in your response to my review. Though I was thinking about mentioning her.

As the only other fictional Violet that comes to mind is the not often used character in PEANUTS, I think we are all going with the young Ms Moon as Al's Violet.

I must also raise the question: Does the Potter's secret come out or is there more to a member of the Charlton family that has yet to be revealed??? hmmm. My theory that I touched on in one of my STRANGES reviews

Can't wait for more!!

Author's Response:

There is a long way to go before I write any next-gen.

Does the Potters secret come out? I'm not telling. Is it important that I can tell you that in October 2011 Henry John Charlton is 6, his sister (Annabel Kaye) is 4, and that both Violet Lillith Moon and Florence (Flossie) Longbottom are 2?

When Regulus steps into the cave by the sea, he knows it is a mission that could very well be the end of him, but it is in something he has lost that he finds the strength to do what is right and not what is easy.

Wonderful insight to Regulus, our unsung hero of the HP series.

Ever thought of doing a take on how RAB found out about the Horcruxes??? There may be a fan fic out there addressing this, but you or Neil would be two of the few I feel would give it a wonderful take.

Author's Response:

I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was written at about 7am after an angsty all-night writing session, so that it is readable let alone any good feels like a feat for me, hehe.

As for further RAB studies, I probably won't have the time in the near future, but there is a story that comes highly recommended from impeccable sources that you may enjoy.  It says it's not completed, but I believe the author forgot to tick it off as such, as it is done at ten chapters. It's called A Certain Slant of Light by Hatusu, which highlights some of the darkest hours for Regulus in his time as a Death Eater who was willing to defy Voldemort.

Anyway, thank you for the lovely review, and I hope to see you again!

It will bring closure to the events of the past few years. Harry has set himself a target. His attempts to meet his target will bring heartbreak, danger, pain, and a lifechanging injury for one former DA member.

OK, just saying Quarell/Quirlell, just mentioning it as it is almost to similar to be a coinsindense.

Anyway, glad to see we are making some head way about what has been happening.

And I am very surprised that Hermionie didn't realise they were all saying the same thing about Linny answering the phone and saying Ginny is out. Really not liking Linny any more than I did in an earlier review where I mentioned her.

Looking forward to more!!!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
Astonishingly, Quarrell/Quirrell hadn’t occurred to me (oops).
Hopefully the next chapter will give more answers, and more questions, too.
Hermione has her mind on other things, as does Ron. You don’t like Linny? She won’t appear in the next chapter: She-wolf and Cubs, but she’ll be back.

Oh boy, oh the cuff reminders of Fred's death, a barely clothed Lavender, Quidditch bans...

Oh what a tangled wreath you are weaving with your alternate chapter deceiving. Ok, not so much deceiving, but hitting at what is to come/yet to be read is so much fun.

Plus when we loyal readers of your cannon try to plug in what we know of your timeline/life events.of the characters: guess we have a good idea of Lav's second attack.

Looking forward to more; especially when I start rereading by alternate chapters.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
There’s a lot happening in this chapter, and deceiving is a good way to describe it. There is a lot going on that you don’t know about. You’ll get a lot more clues in the next chapter. You’re doing a good job of figuring out the reason for Lavender’s state of undress. I’m putting both Harry and Ginny (and Ron and Hermione) through a lot in this story.

Nice bit to move the plot along.

Seems to be a nice hidden wizarding (?) village, except for the hag, snatchers, death eaters, and possible Lestrange.

Patiently (yeah right) awaiting the next Prey chapter to find out what R and H are arguing about again, and what is happening with the Hellions; though a hint in Ephaninanilum would be nice .

Author's Response:

There really is a Shivering Stone on Bloodybush Edge (I couldn’t make those names up), it is, however, only a stone. Fortunately there are no werewolves, hags, snatchers or Death Eaters there (so far as I know).

There will be no more hints in Epithalamium, I hope to get the next few chapters of this to my beta readers very soon.

Yep, was happy to see this, but there is a glitch with the ratings that is locking everyone out.

The same thing happened the other day with Raindrops. Gmarium had to lower the rating a notch before everyone could read the update.

I have come across a couple of other glitches on the site since 1 November--mostly email notifications of story updates and the daily trivia.

I have emailed the site a second time about on 6 November to the site.

Thanks for the review, and the heads-up. I’ll adjust the rating to 3rd-5th years and hopefully people will be able to read and review.

Can't wait to see how Harry deals with a drunk Ginny. It is bound to be a hoot!!!

Glad the glitch got fixed so we can all enjoy your writing.

Author's Response:

Oh dear, I do hope that you’re not disappointed when Mark meets Lavender.

Oh dear, there aren’t many laughs to be had in the Harry/Ginny confrontation either. I did consider putting this story into the dark/angsty category.

Sorry for taking so long to review.

I know you have an unique pattern to this tale, but I will be reading odds then evens as you go along. haha.

This is definately going to be an interesting ride.

More later.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
Although I've written this out of order, I hope that the clues as to what's going on are spread evenly between the Hunt chapters and the Trap chapters. I look forward to hearing what you think.

A 2 for 1 review:

You seem to be hinting toward Ginny's state of mind during Harry's Hunting month. Completely understandable: though I do believe Lynette may have been playing the jealous flatmate by not letting Ginny know Harry had called and not letting Harry know Ginny might have actually been around.

Looking forward 2 chapters from now when we may find out more about Ron and Hermoine's fight/misunderstanding.

Happy CHristmas

Author's Response: Edyeb, thanks for the review.
There are a lot more clues about Ginny's state of mind in the next chapter, despite the fact that it doesn't directly deal with these events. It's certainly possible to read Linny's side of her conversation with Harry that way :-D
You will find out more about Ron and Hermione's disagreement.
Merry Christmas to you, too. The third and final chapter of "Beard Hunters" will be the last thing I post before Christmas.

Such a punny title!!!

While I liked the "7 Books" reference, my favorite is when the drunken sods ask the girls "You and which army?" My favorite line from DH part 2 movie.

Love your Luna writings, can't wait to see what else happens in A&S over this Christmas.

Eagerly awaiting more!!!

Author's Response: Edyeb, thanks.
This story was originally called “Inebriation” but this title seemed more fitting. I enjoyed writing the entire bar scene, in fact I enjoyed writing the entire thing. Writing Luna is fun, but exhausting.
There will be no more A&S until January, sorry.

Summary: Past Featured StoryYuletide: ‘tis the season to be jolly! Unfortunately, for four and two-thirds Potters, jolliness is in short supply. Perhaps it is the season of:
Monkeys; fish and chip suppers; shopping in Knockturn Alley; a werewolf wearing glitter lipstick; a Moon in an eccentric orbit; Dung; snow; and a jolly fat man with a white beard.
Hopefully everything will work out.
Consumer Warning: Like many Christmas gifts, this may contain nuts/nut traces.

Love how you come up with great name--Marion Ette hehe. Gives a whole new meaning to pulling the strings. haha

Anyway, a wonderfully cute and funny story in the lives of the Potters.

Though, with the way the cymbol tin monkey (they are always evil) is featured quite a bit in the previews for The Woman In Black the toy monkeys are amusing.

Sorry for the lateness of reviews, just getting caught up from the Holidays.

Looking forward to more!!! :)

Author's Response:
I had a lot of fun writing this Christmas story. Marion’s name is less subtle than those JKR gives some of her minor characters.

As for the monkeys, they had to be there, just as Al had to make a lot of noise. I confess, I’m a little disappointed that no one has commented on the chapter titles.
