Summary: Andromeda reflects on her sister Bella, and how she is not who she thought she was, but the person she was afraid she would become.
I really liked this - this so could have happened. Very realistic take on the characters.
Author's Response: Thank you so much - I'm so flattered that you think so :)
"James Sirius Potter, it is the judgment of the Wizengamot that you have been found guilty. You knowingly, in possession of sound mind and body, used the Cruciatus Curse and the Killing Curse in the intentional torture and murder of one Gregory Goyle the Third."
James Potter was going to Azkaban for the rest of his natural life, and his whole family was in shambles. His wife and child have fled the country, his sister was missing, and his parents were a wreck. However, James knew that he had larger problems: his guilt was coming more and more in question.
Though he knew that James was withholding information about the circumstances of the murder of which he had been found guilty, Harry had secrets of his own; however, even he could not handle this torrent of trouble alone. Can Harry trust his darkest confidences to anyone? Even family?
How will the Potter clan stop the downward spiral into pain and disaster, and can they recover what they've lost?
This fic was nominated for a 2010 Quicksilver Quill Award - Best Next-Generation Story.
I love this story! This is spell binding (no pun intended). Seriously, this is a great story, can't wait for each chapter to come out.
I really appreciate the praise. I had not expected my first fic to be so well-received. There is a ton more of story to come, and I hope the rest of it meets with your expectations. This book is kind of my baby in a way, born from one sentence repeating in my head. Stay tuned!
Summary: The wedding cake is gone; the bride and groom are honeymooning. Yet Molly Weasley cannot seem to relax and enjoy the family that lingers in the aftermath of the celebration. She knows the easy laughter they enjoy tonight will be short lived, because three teenagers are leaving in the morning with a job so serious no one will even speak its nature aloud.
Molly knows no magic that will stop morning from coming. But she can make stew and fan the flames of laughter; she can tell someone something she's been wanting to say for years. And she can hold them all while she has them.
I really like how you capture the characters. Like you have access to Jo's secret notes or something! Do you have some more stories elsewhere - loved Shell Cottage, would love to read more of your stories - good fanfic is so hard to find!
Author's Response: Oh, how kind you are! I'm so glad you liked this one, too. I am actually working on several things, but nothing is ready for submission yet. I don't know if you participate in the forum, but I do have a drabble thread in The Three Broomsticks... only three so far, but I'm just getting started. Thanks again!
Summary: He makes this pilgrimage every year at Christmas, but nothing ever comes of it. Will it be different this year?
Merry Christmas to me - a new Hermione/Snape story from Subversa.
Summary: Christmas is a time for family, so Harry spends it with his. Both of them... UK English.
crying at work while I am reading this - absolutely one of the best fanfics I have ever read. And you got Harry perfect. Merry Christmas!
wow! Pleased as punch that you liked it so much (although, I do hope you didn't cry TOO much)!
I've often wondered if Harry finally bit the bullet & started to call Molly 'Mum'. This was just the way I imagined the inevitable event may have occured. She has certainly been a wonderful mother figure to him ever since they first met - she's the kind of mother most people would love to have (especially is she could do magic too...).
And what a beautiful compliment, to say it was among the best you've read. I am truly, truly flattered and hope I can live up to such high esteem with future fics.
Thanks very much for R & R-ing and a very merry Christmas to you and yours!
Kara's Aunty :)
Summary: Sometimes our fate resembles a fruit tree in winter. Who would think that those branches would turn green again and blossom, but we hope it, we know it.
It's easy to make a wrong decision. It's a lot harder to rectify it. Remus Lupin knows this far too well. But even in the depths of winter, there's always that one little thing that keeps you going. Hope.
Great story - I love Remus and Tonks.
Summary: On the morning of Christmas Day, 2000, Hermione Granger (soon-to-be-Weasley) wakes up from a delightful dream to find herself in a bathroom at Grimmauld Place.
As various Weasleys queue up to tell her all about her behaviour the night before at Aunt Muriel's birthday party, Hermione is in a state of shock.
She knows she didn't drink anything stronger than Butterbeer. So why was she wearing a toga and teaching everyone how to perform Greek dancing?
And what, in the name of Merlin, was she doing with George?
This is Equinox Chick and this is my entry for the extra credit challenge 'In Vino Veritas' for the Winter Snows 09 competition over at the MNFF beta boards.
Thank you to Apurva for beta'ing this tale in time. Thanks also to various people on AIM for telling me to get on with this (Jess, Natalie, Hannah, Russia, Kara, BB)
Disclaimer: I'm not JK Rowling. She would never have written anything quite so daft.
Claimer: I have disgraced myself wearing a toga before now.
very funny! loved it!
Author's Response: Thank you! It was fun to write - especially when the phrase 'Athenian thighs' popped into my mind. ~Carole~
Five years separate two kisses and two girls, a redhead, and a blonde. A lot can change in five years.I am Northumbrian from Ravenclaw House, and this is my entry for the February Love challenge in the Great Hall - category First Love - at the MNFF beta boards.
sweet story. love how you wrote Neville and Ginny and the Yule Ball. well, actually, love the whole story. you have a really good handle on the canon relationships - love to read all your work
Author's Response: The canon relationships are the ones which fascinate me. Every time I reread the books I seem to spot some new nuance. Thanks. -N-
Summary: Victoire and Teddy are at that awkward stage. They're not adults yet, but they'll jinx you if you refer to them as "one of the kids." Victoire, especially, is sick of all her little cousins at the Annual Weasley Family reunion, so when Teddy finally shows up, the two of them escape out into the garden as fast as possible.
write more soon! great story - very well written - and in canon - what more could a person ask for! excellent characterization too. can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the next-gen
Author's Response: OOOH, thanks for reviewing! That makes me very, very happy. I definitely will write more soon, once my teachers let up on their incessant barrage of homework. I'm glad you appreciate the canon--I spent a long time with my books and the Lexicon trying to make sure it was all perfect. :)
Summary: Summary: There are many forms of love and many ways in which love can ambush the unwary. First sight can surprise us.
This is Northumbrian of Ravenclaw House writing for the February Month of Love prompt, Surprise Love.
You are fast becoming one of my favorite fanfic authors. Lovely story. And anyone who has had ever had a baby knows of that surprise love the first time you hold them - how can you instantly love someone so much? You not only captured that, you capture all the HP characters so well - this is how I see Ginny and Harry. Please keep writing! Love to see where you take my favorite books - and you do it in canon, the icing on the cake!
Author's Response: Thank you. It is a bizarre time; frightening, distressing, wonderful and surprising for the father, and rather more painful and exhausting for the mother. -N-
Summary: The seven men who loved Hermione Granger.
What a wonderful story! Beautifully written - how you capture the essense of the characters!
Author's Response: Thank you! That's high praise :)
Oh absolutely - you must do the other characters too - especially Harry, Ginny and Ron. This was a beautiful piece of writing.
Author's Response: Thanks very much! I'm glad you liked it!
Summary: James and Lily Potter have died, but that doesn't mean Harry is alone. They're still watching over him, and they don't intend on stopping any time soon. *one-shot*
Oh my goodness - I am sitting here at work crying - what a beautiful story.
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you liked it, even if it made you cry :)
Summary: Hermione waits behind a window. She is waiting for the world to come alive again.
Nominated in the 2010 Quicksilver Quill Awards for Best Canon Romance.
Wow. Intense. Great story. Great characterization - you really get Ron and Hermione. Write more!
Author's Response: Thanks! I quite enjoyed writing them together so I probably will write more of them. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Summary: It started out as just a simple friendship between four boys. The story of that friendship, as it grew and they became men, would eventually define wizarding history and change the world forever. Documented here is the story of the four unique, imperfect, and remarkable boys who made up the Marauders.
I like it - great beginning - good characters - can't wait to read more
Summary: James Potter had asked her before for a date, several times, although not always for himself. Now, as Lily Evans gazes at her reflection in the mirror, she wonders why he keeps asking her and just why she's finally said yes.
I am Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this story has been written for the first round of the Character Clinic Triathlon over at the MNFF beta boards. Prompt: First Kiss.
Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling. Her lawyers agree, so don't get them riled by confusing us.
Thank you very much to Natalie (hestiajones) for beta'ing this fic for me. I need to also add that Natalie may be a Hufflepuff, but she does not have fluffy hair and in no way resembles the Hestia Jones that appears in this story. Finally, you may recognise some OC's from my fic Lions of Gryffindor. This isn't exactly 'caron' compliant with that story, but it kinda fits ... in parts ... sort of.
Love it! Really like Lions of Griffyndor too. Always wanted to know how James and Lily got together. Very well written, too.
Author's Response: Thank you ... of course I have a different version in mind for Lions, so keep reading that too. ~Carole~
Summary: The seven men who loved Ginny Weasley.
Ginny is one of my favorite characters too. You did an excellent job capturing Ginny. And you also captured alot of Harry talking about Ginny. Can't wait to read more!
Author's Response: Thanks! I feel like these little scenes are all supposed to be about Ginny (or Hermione, in that story) but they show a bit about the men that are narrating. I'm glad you liked this and more are soon to come ;)
Sunshine spilled down onto the small grassy spot through a window in the tall trees. She stood a couple of yards back, staring at eleven letters cut into rock. It was beautiful, and yet, to Hermione’s eyes, nowhere near a worthy enough tribute for a life so full of rambunctious joy.
What a sweet story. I had never thought of Hermione's pov when it came to losing Fred. You did a wonderful job - well written, in canon, beautifully descriptiive. I may have to put you on my list of authors not to read at work - I ended up teary over this one! Debbie
Author's Response: Haha... don't mean to get you into trouble at work. I really hadn't thought of Hermione's experience either, to be honest. I just knew I wanted to use the "grief" prompt, and that I wanted to do something unusual. This is what came of it. Thanks for the encouraging words... I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Summary: A night to forget everything else; a night to remember.
Dedicated to Harry/Ginny.
ooooh. I like it very much!
Author's Response: Why thank you! ;)
Summary: "before Harry, before Hermione, before Hogwarts..."
Ron reflects of families lost and families formed.
wow - that was great! I have felt that same melancholy at family gatherings - how well you articulated it and with my favorite characters too!
