Strangers at Drakeshaugh by Northumbrian

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • 352 Reviews
The locals in a sleepy corner of the Cheviot Hills are surprised to discover that they have new neighbours.

Who are the strangers at Drakeshaugh?

Another great chapter, Mary didn't know what hit her.
Molly has been a good role model for Ginny in lots of ways, she doesn't stand any nonsense.
Will the magic start leaking out soon?
Looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
Ginny would probably be horrified, but I agree, they are more similar than Ginny would like to believe.
When the magic leaks out, Jaqqui gets Obliviated, and I lose my narrator :-(
More soon

Another interesting chapter. I love the way your stories inter-relate with characters like Amber and Dacia popping up from other tales.
Looking forward to the party.
Kreacher and Mollie that is a formidable set of caterers!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
I'm accumulating a large supporting cast of Original Characters. I use them whenever I can.
The party is next (sort of).
There are more then merely Kreacher & Molly catering for this party. Neither of them would provide clafoutis aux cerises, or parkin.

Oh you keep on teasing us!
Will James do or say something that will break the Statute of Secrets?
Love this story and the way your stories all connect up and compliment each other and most importantly they keep to cannon.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
James isn't sure what "the statue of secrets" is! But how does a four year old keep secrets? :-D
My main worry now is that Pottermore will reveal stuff which contradicts my carefully plotted timeline :-(

Another great chapter, nice to see Fenella and Dacia again.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. They seem to be in everything I write at the moment. I'm sure it's just a phase. -N-

Lovely to see so many old friends, the minibus to cover up the flooing or apparating was a good touch.
Looking forward to seeing how the other muggles cope when they arrive.

Author's Response: Thanks.
It was a good idea, but Harry really should have given his friends a few minutes to catch up, because Jacqui is sharp.
Next, more wizards, and lots of Muggles. Can the wizards cope?

Great to have the next installment of the story. Poor George, nice that he has Angelina to cheer him up.
Loved the way they managed to keep the Muggles guessing.

Author's Response: Thank you.
George is coping, most of the time. And the Muggles are a little confused, but that's all.
I'm going to try to get another chapter done before the year ends. We'll see.

Another great chapter, poor Lavender is she married to Moon now?
Can't wait to see what Jacquie finds at Drakeshaugh.

Author's Response:
Thanks for the review.

Short answer, yes, but that's another story. :-)

She finds four kids, a grandmother, and two Aurors. (I hope that doesn't give too much away.)

M.I.T.: Muggle Interface Team by Northumbrian

Rated: 6th-7th Years • 12 Reviews
When the magical world meets the Muggle world, who do the Auror Office call on?

Nominated for: Best Post-Hogwarts (One-Shot) story – Quicksilver Quills 2011

Reviewer: minervassister Signed
Date: 04/17/11 Title: Chapter 1: Muggle Interface Team

Poor Lavender, she really has problems. Glad she meets Moon eventually.
Interesting seeing the Muggle Police reacting to the Aurors. Susan and Lavender make a good team.
Hope we get more of this, Susan

Author's Response:
Thanks for the review.
Lavender’s problems will (eventually) be resolved.
I enjoyed writing the Susan/Lavender banter and the idea of a small team dealing with the Muggles appeals. I will write more, possibly even a Susan-centred story.

Moons by Northumbrian

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • 38 Reviews
July 2010 and a young married couple are out for a relaxing and romantic day. An afternoon at the theatre, followed by a meal to bring back memories. It should be a fairytale day. Unfortunately, it is.

This is a sequel to Moon and is another story featuring Mark Moon (Best Original Character - Quicksilver Quills 2010). A lady named Lavender appears too.

Good to hear more about Lavender and the lovely Mark.
Looks like things are about to turn nasty. You always leave us worried and wanting more!

Author's Response: Thanks. Mark and Lavender will be living the fairytale life for a few more chapters. -N-

Oh so scary, don't go in Lavender!
Please up date soon so we can find out what happens next.
I do love your Lavender she is lovely and Mark is a perfect husband for her.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
This is another story which is being cooked very slowly. The next chapter (Umbra) will need several re-drafts before it's ready.
I really must write the story about how Mark and Lavender met, mustn't I?

Glad you got them down at last, being a werewolf does give Lavender a nice edge.
Poor Mark it can't be easy being married to Lavender but there are compensations!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. Like Mark and Lavender, this story has been left hanging for too long. Expect the sixth and final chapter soon. -N-

Summary: Ginny Weasley is about to play her first ever professional Quidditch Game. Why aren't her team mates ready?

Very Ginny!!
Great story as usual, you are filling in the "missing years" very convincingly.

Author's Response: Thank you. -N-

Unspeakable by C_A_Campbell, Northumbrian

Rated: 6th-7th Years • 30 Reviews
Summary: Unspeakable, Michael Corner, is researching time, events, and probabilities. While testing his newly-invented RANDOM system, he stumbles upon an unspeakable possibility. Former supporters of Voldemort, all acquitted for their crimes, are dying of so-called natural causes. Intrigued by the possibility that these events might be connected, Michael investigates farther. But what he discovers will test him and raise questions that all his probabilities cannot answer for him.

What is justice? And what is unspeakable cruelty?

This is a very interesting collaboration.
I like the way you have linked the characters to your other stories.
Hermione being the only person with enough knowledge to follow Michael's theory was very apt.
Terry is going to marry Fenella!!! Great news, (I have a great weakness for Fenella.)
Like the contrast of two obsessives - Toni and Michael.
Looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response: Thank you.
I'm grateful to C_A_Campbell for allowing me to fit this story into my timeline. It restricted the her choice of both victims and protagomists.
I reckon Luna would understand it, too.
Terry/Fenella was going to happen the moment I finished Summer of '97.
They are both obsessed, aren't they?

This is soooo scary!
Poor Michael will Marley kill him?
Poor Marley did her spell kill her sister or was it Clarissa Crabbe?
Thank you that the updates are coming so quickly.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
By now you know the answers (I hope)
Competition deadlines forced haste, although as May 2012 approaches, the stories remain unjudged.

Oh that was scary!
Can you do bad so good comes of it?
An interesting ethical point.
Very interesting start, look forward to finding out more about Toni.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review, and sorry for the delayed reply. Suddenly, I can respond.
The questions you ask are those we were trying to discuss.

The Pencil Portrait Problem: A Theodore Nott Mystery by Northumbrian

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • 20 Reviews
Summary: An incredibly valuable item has gone missing, and everybody is completely stumped. There is no way a stranger could have entered the room! How was the crime committed? More importantly, whodunit? Were those blue beads on the floor before? What about those two mugs on the table? Why is Pansy sitting on Blaise’s lap?

Theodore Nott investigates.

Well plotted, I love mysteries and this one has all the right ingredients - interesting characters, a seemingly impossible problem, good clues, a satisfactory if unusual conclusion.
Liked the characters stayed true to your other stories.
Was that Fenella in the library? Are we going to see her again in Aurors and Schoolgirls?

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I had a lot of fun writing this. That was Fenella in the library, I intended to use her as a red herring, but time constraints restricted her use. She will reappear in A&S very soon. -N-

M.L.T.: Muggle Liaison Team? by Northumbrian

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • 16 Reviews
He was John “Pen” Parker. He was twenty-two and recently engaged to Naomi Nolan, the nineteen-year-old mother-to-be of his unborn child. He worked for Howard Building Contractors. There were fifteen other people on the closed and secure building site when he died. Was he murdered? The police weren’t sure. But what did they know? Whose was the cigarette, and what happened to the ring?

Another great chapter, like getting to know more about Polly.
Loved the Harpy comment and dear Lavender is as endearing as ever.
These workmen don't know what's hit them!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. Polly, like Mark and Fenella, will continue to appear in my stories. Bobbie’s presence will (eventually) be explained too. Lavender is. -N-

What's in the cellar? . here has the ring gone?
Love the little details, especially "because conservation officers never went anywhere alone".
Looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
All questions will be answered, eventually.
I should apologise to conservation officers (and chippies, sparkies, brickies etc.) for presenting such stereotyped images.

Nice start, it's good the way you manage to inter-relate your stories so that they build up into a very satisfactory whole.
I'm beginning to warm to Robards, it can't have been easy having all these heroes to keep under control.

Author's Response:
Harry and Ginny’s (and Ron and Hermione’s) lives are well plotted, the minors are a lot easier to slot in to a mystery story, though I know a general history of MIT, too.
Robards (at least my Robards) is a decent man who is reaching the end of his career and is (unfortunately) very set in his ways.

M.I.T.: Haunted House: Dead by Northumbrian

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • 27 Reviews
A haunted house that isn’t haunted, a Muggle fortune teller who can’t actually tell fortunes and the legend of the Cursed Green Pearl! What happens when “the nation’s favourite television ghost-hunters” stumble onto something really magical? What (apart from a mysterious chest, a broken red stiletto and a corpse) lies within the topmost room of the Haunted Tower?

It’s time for the Auror Office’s Muggle Interface Team - Brown, Bones and Beadle - to investigate.

This is Northumbrian of Ravenclaw house writing for the 2011 Mysterious May Challenge in the Great Hall - Extra Credit Prompt

This is one of four mystery stories I wrote for the Challenge. Until now I’ve resisted editing this story as to do so will (I believe) mean that it can’t be judged as part of the challenge (editing after the closing date is cheating). I can’t wait any longer.

Great start!
Looking forward to following the clues.
What a horrid bunch of characters, just like the real thing probably!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. Time is pressing, the next chapter is submitted. Which of the crew committed the crime? Is this simply a police matter? Why would the Auror Office get involved? -N-
