I'm not sure why my entire review didn't show before, so I'll try again!

This is definitely a different view that I would have never thought of, but it explains a lot that could have been. It explains the mystery behind Ollivander, his disappearance once Voldemort came back.

To make the Pheonix feather be one of the horcruxes opens the door to Harry's downfall, or at least brings that possibility to the forefront.

Ollivander a true follower of Voldemort...and like most Death Eaters believing (with the pride down in his heart) that he was the one person following Voldemort that had the most to offer. He did have a lot of freedom brought about by his trade. He needed to travel to distant places to obtain the things needed to make his wands. He did have to see Dragons and other mythical creatures in practicing his craft which would make him a perfect ambassidor.

I did get a bit confused with the centaurs...as they seemed to want nothing at all to do with Voldemort, or the otherside. They were adamant about remaining neutral and just to interpret the stars. If Voldemort had such a trusted Death Eater that had the ear of the centaurs who completed the prophesy from reading the stars, why would he still extend so many resources towards obtaining the prophesy? Plus, I think that Voldemort always had some distrust of even the most trustworthy Death Eater because he would fear that they were following him only to take his place at a later time...distrust is a central trait to Voldemort that he tried to beat out of his followers with fear. Fear is a powerful weapon, but it can back fire, too...take for example the Malfoys in DH.

Anyway, I loved this different view of Ollivander and can see how if he was more drawn to the dark arts could have been a great Death Eater and most trusted associate of Voldemort's.

This is very well written and shows a point of view that many would not notice, nor would the see the heroism behind these simple things! thanks for pointing out that sometimes it is the courage to step up and do the small things that can win wars!

Leaves by Simply Being
Rated: 3rd-5th Years [Reviews - 14]

Summary: I would look out into the forest, full of huge lofty trees covered in leafy green foliage, pointing downward as if sensing the rain, and trying with all their might to get as far away as possible from it. It doesn’t really make sense, I used to muse to myself. Why would leaves hide from the rain? Maybe, I decided, because they were afraid; afraid that the thing they loved the most would somehow hurt them, and why bother even taking a chance? Therefore, I had concluded, they pointed downward as far as they could reach.

What if the death of Luna's mother wasn't an accident?

A/N: Thanks so much Kasey, Rachel, and Catrin! Also: This comes with a slight AU warning, it all depends on how you look at it. But, strictly speaking, it does not go against cannon.

IT is funny the events that make us who we are...and loosing one's mother is an event that just leaves scars on most people, especially young girls who love their mother more then anything! This is a sad story about how Luna's mother died...but at the same time it shows hope...hope that even when something is lost, it becomes a part of us and by remembering that part, we move on and change. Well written story that shows the pain and anguish that death brings, but also shows that even as the pain remains, it brings a bit of peace with it because we remember.

Author's Response: thanks! you\'re comments mean a lot to me.

This is a very well written story. I like how you developed Dumbledore's friendship with Nicholas Flamel. I do have to say that I do not like the deterioration of Perenelle's personality...and she worked with her husband with many of his experiments, so I do not see that she would become that bitter...that distant with him because they shared so much, their love life, their experiments, etc. I always saw her working beside Nicholas to translate the Book of Abraham and to conduct the Alchemy necessary to make the stone. That is my opinion though.

I always believed that Nicholas did not mean to allow himself to die until after the run in between Harry and Voldemort in Philosopher's Stone. That he talked with Dumbledore and Perenelle and together decided that they have lived long enough...that the danger the stone was to the world was greater then their need to keep living. He had given the stone to Dumbledore to keep and protect for him because he was a trusted friend and an obvious choice to guard the stone as he had one of the safest hiding places in which to protect the stone. It would also have been more obvious for Nicholas to keep the stone in his own safe...not everyone would think that Dumbledore would be in possesion of the stone, even if they knew he was friends with Nicholas.

Thanks for this different view of how the story of Nicholas Flamel would have ended. Sometimes these views into other worlds open up our minds to see more of how the world works.

Author's Response: I think there\'s some underlying opinions there that I think are amusing. But thanks for saying it in a civilised way, you know? Thank you for recognising that my ideas are different to yours without saying \"OMG I H8 THIS! YOU DID EVERYTHING WRONG!\"

But in truth, I didn\'t know a huge deal about Nicholas Flamel other than a few basic facts I put in the story. I was just trying to come up with an idea why Nicholas would give Dumbledore the stone for the year when he would have needed fresh Elixer - or maybe he doesn\'t. We\'ll have to see how it all works out, with the details pouring in, won\'t we?

I really like this story. It's a new set of characters for you, but I like how you portray them. I also like how you incorporated the dreams into the story...how she tried to deny the bad ones and only set her mind on the good ones. That seems to be very in character for Helga! Good luck in the challenge!
