So much angst! But it was really great; you've got me very excited about what's coming with the Auror testing and everything. Sirius is hilarious, btw. Great chapter!

Author's Response: The more I write Sirius, the more I like him. He's fun! And the Auror testing in the next chapter was a lot of fun to write too! The angst in this one? Not so much fun, but they were questions I'd always had, so it was good 'therapy' to work them out in my head, to make things plausible. I like for things to make sense. I can't stand ambiguity. Anyhow, thanks for the review!

Slick, Remus. You get your third tag, impress the girl, then slip and bash your head open on a rock. Very very slick. Another great chapter! Will Sirius ever get over the fork incident? My favorite line - Note: sarcasm does not help the situation. :) Update soon!

Author's Response: There are just some people who can't catch a break. Unless they're breaking their heads open... Sirius does get over the fork incident, if only because there are other things to worry about (Evil laughter because I know what's coming up next! Chapter is in line, waiting for approval, so it should be soon.) And I love the 'sarcasm' comment too. Goodness knows I say it a lot to myself. Thanks again for reviewing. It means a lot!

Only one more? :( That makes me sad.
Great chapter though. Oh the intenseness!
And yay Dumbledore! Boo Siobhan.
Update soon!

Author's Response: Only one more. Sorry! But I have set myself up that I could add onto it later--if there's enough interest, and I'm motivated enough. The last chapter has been with the mods for almost 2 weeks now. I'm going to have to find out what the problem is, I guess; why it hasn't been posted yet... Sigh. But, thanks for reviewing!

Yikes! Poor Remus... why can't life ever be fair for him... but I can't really talk, can I? :) Great first chapter! I loved the socks bit; it was cute. And I like the idea you've got going here. I'm excited to read more! Update quickly please! -Anna

Author's Response: Ah, the fun of making Remus\' life difficult just because we can... I\'m glad you liked it as much as I\'m enjoying YOUR story!\r\n\r\n

Very good :) I like the idea of Sirius having some happy memories with his family before he was old enough to realize what they really are. And good job with those few bits of early disillusionment with Andromeda. Good character work.

I'm enjoying your fic very much, but I wanted to comment on this chapter in particular because I love how you had Slughorn sort the students. It's so fantastically in character, the exact sort of thing I can see him doing. Really excellent. Well, off to the next chapter!

So sad, but beautiful. And very well written.
I like how you built it all from the beginning, following the progression of his life and their relationship. I maybe would have liked a little more dialogue with Marlene, just because we don't know her as well.
Good job!

Author's Response: Thanks for this lovely review! I'm glad you liked it... this is actually one of my least favourite stories of the ones I've written, I think it could have done with quite a bit more work, and I see what you mean about Marlene, she could have featured more. But thanks for reading and reviewing! ~Katrina

Can't Fight the Moonlight by Acacia Carter
Rated: 6th-7th Years [Reviews - 12]

Summary: A life-changing disaster at work drives Neville Longbottom to seek aid from the only ally he thinks he can trust - Hermione Weasley. She's more than willing to help, but keeping it a secret puts nearly as much of a strain on herself and her family as it does on Neville, though for entirely different reasons.

I'm not JKR. (I don't think JKR would get such a kick out of putting Neville in such horrid situations.) She owns the Potterverse and everything in it.
Title and various chapter names are from the LeeAnn Rimes song Can't Fight the Moonlight.
Once again, this is a Brand New Neville, completely different to every other Neville you've read about from me. And if you're curious about following along, find yourself a moon phase chart from 2007.

I'm not usually into non-canon pairings, but I'm very much into Neville, very much into werewolves, and very much into your fic! I checked it out on a whim and now I find myself happily awaiting the next chapter. I especially like what you did with Hermione, adapting her to her changing roles as a wife and mother but still keeping her so very...Hermione :) Post chapter 4 soon!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! It always means a lot to me when I've "converted" someone who normally wouldn't read a non-canon pairing, and I hope to make it believable for you. Chapter 4 is on its way, worry not, and thank you so much for the review! :)

I really like it so far! I'm a fan of Lily/Scorpius, especially when there's an effort made to make them their own people and not just their parents' children, if that makes any sense. Anyway, your doing very well with it so far and I look forward to the next chapter.

I really like Neville. And what happened to Hannah? Did she die? Did she leave? Poor Neville, he's had it hard enough already.

Great job!

Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing! It does make sense, what you said about them being not just their parents' children, and I'm glad you think Lily and Scorpius are reading as their own people. I don't even think Draco would have wanted Scorpius to be just like him. I have a secret soft spot for him where I just know he redeemed himself through his son.

Poor Neville, indeed! I swear I don't hate him. I was wondering if someone would ask about Hannah, but I can't answer just yet. ;)

Thanks for reading, I'm so glad you like it so far!

Frank is a tool. He doesn't get to break up with her and then tell her who she can and cannot sleep with. *smacks Frank in virtual face*

I do kind of agree with baby54boomer though. A little more information can go a long way to help your reader really care about the characters. But then, I have to go to long-ass chapters anonymous meetings, so maybe I'm not the best person to be giving advice on length v brevity.

Good chapter, more Scorpius in the next one please!
Anna

Author's Response: What does it say about me as a person that the word 'tool' still makes me giggle innappropriately? :)

Moving forward, I do think you're both right. And I hope I can amend it to your liking in future.

More Scorpius to come, for sure. Thanks for reviewing.

Well now I'm just sad. Great idea incorporating the song in with the fic. It fits together really well. I like the part in the middle with the imaginary kids. Good job

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! Sorry I made you sad... but then I guess the story worked, because it is supposed to be sad. I'm glad you thought the song worked well - the student revolutionaries in Les Mis have always struck me as being like the first Orde of the Phoenix, and I've always thought this song really reflects what Remus must have gone through after James and Lily died. I'm glad you liked the imaginary future - I love the Marauder era characters (well maybe not Peter) and it always makes me sad that they got to live so little - even Sirius and Remus, who stayed alive, lived pretty miserably after the end of the first war. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to leavea review! ~Katrina

Aww, very sweet. Excellent character development, especially of Rose. Especially strong beginning, really hooks you in. You might think about using the first line or two in your summary.

One thing, I don't think "persist" is the word you want for "forcing him to persist from laughing". I think you want "desist".

Very good little ficlet. I look forward to reading more from you in the future.

SO ADORABLE!!!

And then Harry spat the poison apple back in Voldemort's face... yeah that's pretty much how I remember it! You do a good job of mixing HP/Snow White/original elements so that it's not just Ginny parroting off a summary of the books.

The dwarf names are the best!

I love how James figures it out in the end. He can actually be pretty smart when he's not wasting his attention poking Albus.

The little kid accents are cute, but hard to read. You might want to look at that. I think there's a way to keep the charm but simplify it just a tiny bit.

Love it, so cute.
Anna

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! The dwarf names were so much fun to come up with...I am particularly proud of Burny and Sterny :D I'm glad you liked the idea of the mixing plots. Initially I was afraid it would appear as a very see-through summary, but my beta instead told me that it wasn't immediately apparent to her, and that I might want to consider making it more clear....and thanks for the note about the kids' accents. Although I must say, in my experience, little kids are sometimes kind of hard to understand!
