My initial forays into Fanfiction land were focused on Remus Lupin. While I still love him, I quickly discovered the depth to which I had been neglecting Severus Snape. I was shown just how many layers one can invent for him, he never ends and I adore him. I've also discovered that I find angst deeply fascinating and that is mostly what I read. I can handle humor based fictions in small quantities, but anything parody like is not what I want. Therefore, my ridiculously long favorites list if filled with Snape or Lupin centric angst stories, with the occasional story that is immensely well written even without the inspiration of the above.
A Note on Reviews: Words form five percent of communication. Thus, it can be incredibly difficult to express oneself properly in the vast sensory deprived zone of cyber space. I would never seriously insult an author or imply that they are remiss in not updating. If I ever appear to do so I'm joking. Things like sarcasm and humor can be totally lost between two people who have absolutely no actual contact with one another, and thus no knowledge of their mutual natures, or the vocal or physical variety necessary to explain what those naked texts mean. Smiley faces can only be used so often before becoming utterly ridiculous.
All that to say, if I have ever offended anyone or made a current distress more difficult to bear it was never my intention. I sometimes forget that what I type in a bubble filled frame of mind may be interpreted painfully otherwise to someone in a different mood.
My favorites list is too long. It's becoming ridiculous, not that it matters since I'm the only one who probably ever looks at it. Nevertheless, I'm going to stick the names of completed fics I adore here since I mostly use my favorites to keep track of updates to wonderful stories
River Styx, Harry Potter and the Daughter of Light, Oblivious, Once in a Blue Moon, Veiled Revelations, Symphony for Quartet, and A Different Sort of Peace.
Summary: Remus Lupin is a man with a tragic past, filled with pain, suffering and sorrow. But it is also a past filled with great adventure, true friendship and…love? He had the Marauders, he was a prefect and his transformations were less horrible, thanks to his Animagi friends. What more could a teenage werewolf want? And how long could his happiness last? Remus and the Marauders prove that in the saddest of lives and darkest of times, there can still be moments of bliss.
Remus centric but with a lot of the other Marauders. This story is a romance, but has almost as much general Marauder era background and side story as romance.
Pre-HBP and DH, so some things from DH will be disregarded, as the warning indicates, but some Spoilers will be incorporated.

There has been rather a long break in the writing of the story due to work commitments, but I'm back on the case and hoping to get it finished - if there's anyone left still reading!! :-)

Sent to a dark future shaped under the rule of Voldemort, in which all knowledge of his existence has been forgotten, Harry is forced to rely on one of the few people who remembers his name: Severus Snape. 6th Year AU. *Chapters 1 and 2 have been edited*
It was full moon when the Dark Lord sealed a part of his soul within a magical amulet, and then broke it in half. One half was left to the faithful werewolves to guard. The other half was tossed into the impenetrable depths of time where no one but him could get it. When the first half has been found, the Order of the Phoenix selects Hermione Granger to go back into the past to search for the missing piece. What is waiting for her is a brutal task that will test her beyond her limits, and an undying love that extends beyond the boundaries of time.
No werewolves were harmed in the making of this story.
Update (9 May): Chapter 17, Burning, is up! Enjoy!

Neither side trusts him completely -- yet.

In fact, with the odd happenings that always seem to occur when he's around and his dead parents, he's convinced that there's no other explanation - he's a superhero. But when Harry runs away from home it may take more than superpowers to bring him back.
Summary: When Hermione's whirlwind romance turns abusive, the other members of the Order are too preoccupied to pay much attention. Hermione finds an unexpected confidante in her Potions partner, and Severus finds a friend.
Summary: “I am in blood / Stepp’d in so far, that, should I wade no more, / Returning were as tedious as go o’er.” (Macbeth, III.iv.160-162) The education, life and times of Severus Snape, with particular attention to the unhappy confusion of his affections and his relations with the Dark Arts. Approximately 20-24 eventual chapters, including Prologue and Epilogue. NOTE: The "AU Warning" is here only because I have disregarded certain elements of the Black Family Tree, which MNFF regards as canon (but I don't).
Winner of the QuickSilver Quills Award, categ. Best Marauder Era.What did being a Marauder truly mean?... Let's just say that some tunes cannot be played by a lone musician; and those four's lives were certainly not soloists' scores. In class or in detention, in Quidditch matches or full-moon wanderings, fleeing before monsters or confronting dark wizards, they wrote, measure after measure, their own eight-handed piece.
Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs, are proud to present a Symphony for Quartet.
Summary: Taking place after HBP. Professor Snape has been found to be a spy and He-who-must-not-be-named has imprisoned him in an enchanted cottage, until he can find a use for the Potions Master.
Summary: At some point there had to have been a choice.
The logical place to begin a story is at the point of the first decision. But what if there were no decisions? What if, at every point, there was only one possible act? What if the story simply cannot be told?
Completed (though not posted) entirely pre-DH.
Summary: “You were the first thing they took from me,” whispered Sirius. “My only happy memory. I haven’t thought of you in fourteen years.”
