When you submit a story, you have the option of adding warnings. You are also required to give your fiction a rating. Please use the warnings and ratings below. If you are unsure of the category, e-mail a member of the staff to request assistance.
Warnings
In order to adequately warn readers who might be offended by objectionable content, the staff would like to request that you use the following warnings when writing potentially questionable fiction.
| Book 7 Disregarded | Stories that were written before Book Seven was released, and/or stories that follow canon through Book Six but divert from canon in Book Seven. | Substance Abuse | Recreational Drug Use, Muggle or Magical, and Alcohol Abuse |
| Abuse | Physical and/or Emotional Abuse | Violence | Weapons use, Violent Spells and Excessive Physical Violence |
| Non-Consensual Sex | Any stories with Rape MUST have this warning. Most Rapefics will be rejected. | Dubious Consent | Sex scenes where one or both partners have not given their express consent or may be under the influence. |
| Self Injury | Scenes where a character does bodily damage to themselves, whether by mental illness or as part of a ritual act | Suicide | Any story where a character dies by their own hand MUST contain this warning. |
| Slash | Same-Sex Pairings | Sexual Situations | Any stories with allusions to sexual activity MUST contain this warning. |
| Mental Disorders | Whether inflicted by a Death Eater's curse or by nature, stories with extreme Mental Disorders MUST contain this warning. | Alternate Universe | These are stories that go against canon and explore "What-if" scenarios. Most AU fics will be rejected. |
| Character death | This warning is attached to warn readers of the death of a character, especially when it is unexpected. | DH Spoilers | This warning is used to warn readers who may have not read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that your story is set during or after The Deathly Hallows. |
| Epilogue What Epilogue? | This warning is used when your story does not follow canon as set in the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. | Mild Profanity | If your story contains mild profanity, this warning must be attached. |
| Strong Profanity | This warning MUST be used if your story has strong profanity as well as access profanity. Please note overuse of profanity is not tolerated and WILL result in your story being rejected even with the warning attached. | Student/Teacher Romance | If your story has a student and teacher romance, you must attached this warning even though you have this listed in your summary. |
Readers are also advised to take these warnings into consideration as well as the trigger warnings that pop up when a story is selected--if you feel that the story may contain offensive material, please do not read the fiction.
Ratings
| First-Second Years | "All Audiences" - this fiction, typically has little to no profanity. Romance and relationships should be innocent--minimal sexual innuendo. Mild violence is permissible. | Third-Fifth Years | Inappropriate for younger readers, this fiction may include some limited profanity (or "worse" words) and some limited sexual innuendo. Mild to moderate violence is permissible. |
| Sixth-Seventh Years | For more mature readers, this fiction may include more profanity and more advanced sexual innuendo, although no blatant sexual overtones. More descriptive violence is permissible. | Professors | This fiction is inappropriate for underage wizards and readers. It contains more profanity and violence. It may also contain sexual innuendo, but may not be graphic in nature. |
