I was about to say good riddance to the rat but I suppose they need Peter to clear Sirius' name. Have I already mentioned that I just love older Hermione. You've made her seem like young Hermione but you've also made her a reasonable and convincing older Hermione. She became even smarter and tougher while maintaining her basic kindness. Good job! I would think that's not an easy thing to do.

Author's Response: Yes capturing peter is a must; both for Sirius's freedom but also Hermione's plans because she knows he had some part in helping Voldemort return to power. I am glad she has not come out one one dimensional, hate characters like that so i try to show different sides of her for each situation because she isn't going to react to everything the same way.

That was an action filled chapter. I'm surprised that Sirius took Hermione's sleeping with Remus so well. I would've expected a little jealousy. I don't know why-—maybe because Sirius has been around Hermione a little longer. I thought Halt had died but then Hermione must've gone back and rescued him before he died. I can be so dense with time change stuff. I was glad she got rid of those horrible creatures as well as their creator.

Author's Response: I think had it been anyone else, Sirius would have, but Remus is his friend and Sirius knows with his condition, it is probably hard for him to get any type of date or romantic partners. Halt did in her time around Christmas, but since Hermione wasn't on the island on this time, Halt was not causing as much trouble (ex: like using her waterproof flames to destory vehicles and patrols), because he wasn't causing as much trouble, he wasn't high on their priorities to get rid of. The wolves would have still been set on him, but not for a few more weeks.

I guess a Marauder outpranked the pranksters. I would think it would be hard to pull something over on the Weasley twins. I had to chuckle at the boys' reactions when Hermione said she wasn't feeling well because of a girl thing. It does always work doesn't it. Guys just don't want to talk about things like that.

Author's Response: Yeah, the Marauders might be out of practice but they are the original true pranksters. That is one of the things about having all (mainly) male friends, you bring up girl things of any kind and they're just like noope.

Like I said, this story gets better and more interesting with each chapter. I was a little surprised that Hermione was flirting with Sirius and Remus but she is older and I liked it. I loved it when she surprised Snape by her reaction when asked to skin frogs. Or was it toads?

Author's Response: Thank you. Sirius and Hermione have a very easy platonic fun and flirty relationship, there is never any romance there but they have a very easy friendship that could be misinterpreted as romantic. Remus and Hermione have a more mature relationship and she seeks him out on several occasions for comfort that she cannot get anywhere else on many levels, physically(none sexual ), emotionally and sexually(briefly). You will like the side story, lots of Snape and Hermione interactions there.

I'm surprised that Hermione only got detention for mouthing off to Snape. Although what else can Snape do for a punishment. Hermione has so much patience but if she didn't she wouldn't be able to accomplish all that she has to do.

Author's Response: Yeah, I could have had him take points, but honestly that would be like telling her she was banned from Quidditch for life, she does't care one way or another. Or maybe 1 day detention = the loss of an unspoken amount of points X that by a month, and she just lost a lot of points for her House. Yeah, she had to learn a lot of patience on the island; if she hadn't, well, she has learned the hard way what rushing into things too soon can do.

That must be so hard for Hermione to know a different Snape, a friendlier one, but have to deal with an older version. I love how she handled Malfoy. I love the older Hermione. She learned so much from Halt, a mere Muggle. :D

Author's Response: Yeah, Snape from her time was a bit like her, unwilling, for both them, confident on things that happened on the island, and it is hard on her interacting with a Snape who is unaware of all these things they shared. Her handling of Malfoy is going to turn into a rather unique friendship that spans years! :)

Finally we get to hearing about Snape's role in Hermione's life. I say finally because I love to read stories about Hermione and Severus. Hermione really has the power to change a lot of events doesn't she? She seems to be doing a good job of concealing her past or acting like a 13-year old.

Author's Response: Yes, Snape had a big influence on Hermione's past. He helped her through a big part of her rehabilitation back into the civilized and the magical world when she had shut down and out those around her. This will be a Severus/Hermione story, but it will not become a romantic thing for a long while. I've written up through half of fifth year, and it is only just getting to the possibility of romance. Yes, she does; she is a Muggl-born who has embraced both her Muggle and Magical upbringing. It seems so often Muggl-borns and halfbloods are forced to cut off things simply because they are Muggle, and Hermione has learned through trials on the island how to embrace both so that one can make up for the other's shortcomings.

Did Halt die? He was a tough old bird. The dog beings were creepy. In their defense I thought they were actually asking for help. Did you ever read a book called The Dogs of Babel? That was creepy. Some mad scientist was trying to teach dogs to talk. I like the parts when Hermione is older. I guess I'm more comfortable in that universe. I do like this story though.

Author's Response: Yeah, he did, in Hermione's original timeline, which did not happen until December of what would have been her third year, so currently he is still alive. No, I have not read that; I model them as a mix between werewolves and hyena spirits shown in the episode 'Pack' in the first season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. There is a scene where one of the hyena-possessed students is lying in wait outside a window, calling a girl's name that is just downright creepy, and that was after the majority of the 'pack' ate the principal. Use wise, the scientists are very much based on the Jurassic World, the whole biological engineering a super creature for the purpose of war, just with a bit of magic thrown in. I like to think of the werewolf-hybrids as a sort of talking wolf velociraptor. Smart, lethal and runs in a pack. The quote – "These guys are gonna run straight into the enemy's teeth and eat them...belt buckle and all," fits the views of the Chimera group well.

This story is getting better and better. I'm starting to like Halt and all that he taught Hermione. I like that Emma met Sirius and is prepared to make him healthier. There are events I'm really looking forward to so I can see how Hermione changes things.

Author's Response: Thank you, the beginning is a little slow, but it is going to pick up very soon as we get into the plot of PoA and onward.

That was very elaborate. The thought of packing up a house for moving overwhelmed me. I think Hermione is a lot more organized than I am. I'm glad you called older Hermione "Emma" and the younger one Hermione. That made it a little more clear in my mind. I am terrible at things involving time travel.

Author's Response: Yeah, packing for a move can be overwhelming but would be made a lot easier with magic. I felt the need to make the distinction between the two after reading another timetravel fic that involved Harry meeting himself from slightly in the past, and it got impossible to tell who was doing what. That's the down side of timetraveling back on your own timeline.

Is this the first time you mentioned that Harry is dead already? Hermione has a lot of work to do. Her house sounds lovely. I thought time was something you didn't meddle with but I'm sure Hermione has figured out how to get around any boundaries.

Author's Response: Yes, how he died will be covered in a much later chapter, but it has to do with her not being there to help him. After all, if you go through the later books and remove Hermione's influence, then Harry and Hogwarts itself would be drastically different. Normally one wouldn't, but when pushed to the edge people can do things they normally wouldn't even think of. I will say Hermione's way of timetravel is very different than simply using a Time-Turner to come back. It involved the Veil, which by definition is a 'gate between dimensions', the loving world and the realm of the dead. Through a ritual of her and Snape's making they changed the exit point of the gate to a separate point in time rather than a different dimension.

Hermione must be a fairly good fighter now after training with Halt. I wonder if she feels somewhat relieved that there is some civilization on the island although they seem like a group of thugs.

Author's Response: She's become a decent fighter under Halt's instruction for the first six months on the island. Things got a whole lot darker and dangerous after that. A group of thugs is the least of what they are, but we will get into details shortly.

Very different so far.

Author's Response: Essentially I took aspects I liked in Time-Turner fic and steered clear of things I didn't. Like the character going back time knowing everything that is going to happen. Hopefully it comes out a fresh spin on an old theme.

This sounds like a very interesting story but I'm not quite sure what happened in the end. Did Hermione come back through the Veil? I do like the concept of a Hermione/Snape relationship and story. It's great that you have so many chapters written. I look forward to your next update.

Author's Response: Yes, in a way she used it as a time gate. It will be covered in more detail what happened on the other side in a later chapter, but basically she used it to step from her time to a new one. I have a lot finished to post, just slow getting validated.
