I don't know how I missed this story. It must have been one of those times when I didn't have a laptop or tablet available. What I liked about this story was that it traced James' and Lily's deaths backwards. It was surprising how many people had stopped into Godric's Hollow upon hearing of their deaths. It also showed how something can go horribly wrong in a short period of time. I still cannot work up any sympathy at all for Peter.

Lily, I am so surprised that this fic is still sitting here without a review - it is so good! I have read so many one-shots set over this period of time, and some of them still stand out in my mind but many do blend together. How many ways can you tell this particular story?

I think you've found a way. The backwards narrative is unique in itself, and I really like the way you've done this. The longer passages punctuated by the very short ones. It gives the reader time to pause every now and then - a way to reflect on the gravity of each hour as it passes.

I also like the way you've managed to focus on a variety of characters and their experiences within those 24 hours. Usually fics like this will focus on one or two characters at the most - you've managed to include so many and from across the spectrum of good to bad.

I loved your inclusion of Bathilda - very poignant.

Overall, great job, Lily. I loved reading this.
