Nice story - thanks for writing.
I'd modify the second last paragraph. It's you talking, not Draco. He'd be far more hesitant, still fighting a lifetime of prejudice and his pride. I don't think he would go anywhere near as far as you did, just admitting the muggleborn were as good as anyone else would be hard enough for him. And hopefully he would also apologise as well as thank Hermione.
Nice! Outside of fiction I've met very few truly evil people, and I volunteer at a mental hospital. Even there, the vast majority are confused, trying to live up to other people's expectations, seeking for approval where none will be given.
Author's Response: Yeah, that's what I see in Draco throughout the novels. He's not truly evil, I think. He strives too hard for his father's approval, and when he doesn't receive it, he ends up lost and confused. It seems to me that if Hermione stuck up for him, he would feel indebted to her and seek her approval like he did with his father. Although he wouldn't recognize it at first, Hermione is the type of person who would always forgive him and help him get past the feeling that he always has to please someone. :) I'm glad you liked the story!
