My heart just breaks for Remus--for all of them really. I'm so glad Remus decided to stay with Emma. In many ways it seems sad that Sirius came back. He came back to leave again.
Remus and Emma together are such a sad couple. I don't know what I'd do if I was Emma. I'd probably be all over Remus. These characters have such high moral standards. I think that most stories teach something and the Harry Potter books do teach about character.
I'm really enjoying this, it's refreshing to look at this period from an alternative, more adult perspective.
I do have a minor nitpick though, Arthur comments that he knew the incident at the World Cup had nothing to do with Sirius, but at this point it was only the Trio, Dumbledore and Remus etc that were aware Sirius was innocent, thus it doesn't make sense for Arthur to be saying this. This is backed up by the fact that Sirius is not revealed to the Weasleys to be innocent until the end of GoF.
That's not a criticism of your story though, as I am really enjoying this and particularly your characterisation of Remus.
Author's Response: Thanks for the nitpick! As I was writing it, I was trying to remember when the Weasleys learned about Sirius. Guess I goofed! I'm chalking it up to artistic license :)
It was good to see Lucius Malfoy again. You are writing him perfectly. There's one thing he's not and that's stupid. I was wondering about Buckbeak. Through your writing I can feel the tension of having Sirius back but knowing he's in danger and realizing that he can be snatched away at any moment. That was a very low blow on Lucius' part to comment on Emma's sex life and use of contraception.
Very promising! I've often wondered how Sirius managed to obtain a wand after getting out of Azkaban and where he went first after escaping from Hogwarts. Keep them coming!!
Great to see another chapter - please update as soon as possible!
Author's Response: Expect about a chapter a week!
I love how you are weaving a different background story to fill in the pieces from P of A. I can see the scenes from the movie and what went on behind the scenes. What happened to Sirius is such a sad story--what happened to all of them. All because of Peter. Peter himself was such a pathetic character. Do you think he did it because he wanted power? Or was he bullied or perceived he was bullied by his friends?
Author's Response: I think Peter is a fascinating character. I would imagine he probably felt so overshadowed by James and Sirius that he wanted to do something to stand out?
Good story telling, but I am not sure why Sirius is to totally unresponsive. (And where is Buckbeak?)
Author's Response: Ah, you'll just have to keep reading! Updates should be posted quite regularly.
I must say, that was quite the beginning. I was on the edge of my seat. I loved it. Even though I knew what was coming, it was told in a new way. Good to see you back. I look forward to updates.
Author's Response: So glad to see a review from you already! I read all the reviews you submit. You're a great reader!
