What I loved about this parody, Kara, was how well you fit the words to the theme of the challenge and also to Harry Potter. It felt very relevant but was also very funny and despite the creepy words, I was still giggling.
Do I need anybody? I just need the back of a head Could it be anybody? No, it's got to be a Quirrell's head!
These lines in particular made me laugh ... a lot.
It wasn't just that you made me laugh, though, for you also managed to tell the story of Voldy and Quirrell in PS, reminding me of all the horrible nits - like the unicorn blood.
The only slight crit I have, and it's very minor, is that the line: Oh, I'm immortal through the help of my Horcrux,
would read a little better to me if you changed 'through' to 'with' because it's more like the original. But that's very minor, and I'm going to be singing your version from now on - hee hee.
Author's Response: OH you're so right about the through/with thing. Only I'm scared of editing it now and breaking everything! :x but as soon as I've got the go from Jess, I'll change that. Thank youuuuu for reading and reviewing! I had fun writing this :D
This made me giggle so much, Carole. You seem to have worked every single Marauder Era cliche into the lyrics, which is quite a feat. My favourite line had to be when Sirius said "Think I slept with her friend". I'm glad I wasn't drinking tea when I first read it, because otherwise I'd have spluttered quite badly! I loved the upbeat, summery nature of the piece; it fitted the challenge wonderfully.
Author's Response: yayayay - glad you liked this. I certainly had a lot of fun writing it, especially the Sirius lines - ha ha. I love the original film a lot so this just made me giggle when I rewrote. Thanks for reviewing ~Carole~
I love this! That is all, but I am singing now - hahahahahhahaha ~Carole~
Author's Response: I'm replying to my own review because I want it off my review response page :D :D. Still a fabulous parody! ~Thank you ~Croll
Ah, I'm singing along to this now. What an earworm of a song it is. Well done, you caught the mood of summer and the challenge very succinctly with this. ~Carole~
Author's Response: Oh, thanks Carole! :) I love love love the original song, and decided that perhaps it would work as a summer fling song. Poor Harry. It would have worked better as, say, Fred or George, but Ginny had to be in this song, so... Thanks for reviewing! You have made my day. ~Nagini
OMG, I'm sorry but I hate this song (no offense), but this was hilarious!! I loved the reference to Simon Cowell!!
Author's Response: yes, i was struggling with a rhyme with owl - hahahaha. Oh, I love the song. It's so catchy and baaad, that it has to be celebrated. I was on holiday in USA this summer and it became our anthem - ha. Thank you. ~Carole~
Such wit. ;] I especially liked the end when you wrote [fade out]. It made me chuckle. Great job, fellow poet. We overcame the challenge. Mwahahahahaha.
Author's Response: Haha, thanks Nagini :) The challenge was good fun, although I'm not quite sure why you're cackling quite so ebilly...
Wow. I this computer let me use exclamation points, it would be all over this. ;] You incorporated the wizarding world really well in this song, and while parts of it were cheesy, I really enjoyed reading it and imagining Ginny singing it. ;] Cheers.
Author's Response: Thank you very much. I had fun writing this, not least because it meant I could keep listening to the song - ha ha.
I loved this so much, and I could really hear the rhythm of it in my head. What a great way to really get down on some summer fun. Gimme three steps... ;]
Great job, minna. I love your work.
Yay!!!!! :) I think we should all give a big virtual hug to Jess, who worked for over ten hours on submitting this alone. I don't think we appreciate the hard work she did enough. So thank you Jess!!!! And here are some virtual cookies, too, for your hard work. :)
As for everyone else, great job! I can hardly wait for the next songbook challenge...
~NAGINI, who will now go and review each individual one instead of all of them at once... :P
Author's Response: yes, it's fabulous. well done everyone for being fabulous and amazing and writing so fabulously fabulous.
'And watch my Snitch go a-seeking'
This is just brilliant. the way you have Potterfied this song, toning down the filth yet retaining the smut just makes me both laugh and gasp in equal quantities. I can't look at TTB in the same way again ... ha ha ha
Croll .... who is now heading for TTB ;p
Author's Response: I don't think I've had more fun writing a poem before ha! Thank you, Carole. Meet me in the TTB, yeah?
Did I ever tell you how much I liked this version of Abba'a seminal song? Hee hee- it has me tapping my feet. Well done. ~Carole~
Author's Response: Yayayay, you came back! (Sorry for the delayed reply, btw...) I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the review :)
