I'm actually crying right now... It's been ages since I cried at a fanfiction. Really well written, mate, I really enjoyed it.

I've really enjoyed reading your Epitaph stories.
This one was lovely. Love is a huge theme in the HP books and Harry was loved by many people so I think his Epitaph is perfect.
I also love Ron's character and you get inside his head really well.

Author's Response: I'm so glad you've enjoyed reading this series - there are at least two other stories in this series planned, and written, others may follow depending on plot bunnies. I suppose in the end, all I could think that Harry wanted in his life was to be loved, so his Epitaph couldn't be any other way. Thank you for the review!

I'm sorry if you thought I didn't like it. I understand the sentiment behind it, and I think you did a great job. There's just a nagging part of me that will never be satisfied with the actual words of an epitaph for Harry Potter. I mean, how could any words be perfect to describe him? But I think you found something that comes pretty close.

Author's Response: Thank you for the review (again), I completely agree. It's impossible to sum up anyone perfectly, be they real life or from the Potterverse, but one can only try :)

Hmm. Short. Very short. But perhaps that's what's necessary for someone like the fabled Harry Potter. I'll be honest, the actual epitaph doesn't sit completely well with me, but that's probably because nothing could ever really sum up Harry Potter. On the other hand, this was very well written, and it was a brilliant way of looking at the amazing things Harry did and some of the people he did them for. Nice job!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review, its a shame you didn't enjoy the actual epitaph very much; it's less about Harry as a person and more about what Harry wanted from his life. If you remember, in the mirror of Erised Harry wanted his family, he wanted to be cared for for who he was, and I like to think that his Epitaph represents Harry fulfilling his dreams.

This was amazing. Though the occasion is definitely a sad and somber one (who wants to think of Harry dying?), writing it from Ron's point of view was brilliant! The bits about Hermione having his neck and wailing at him ("Is that how you want him to be remembered forever? As a Quidditch Seeker? Was that all he was to you?") helped set off such a serious issue in just the way Ron would. Great charaterisation.

Author's Response: I'm so glad you've enjoyed reading this. I'm happy you enjoyed the 'Hermione Parts' as I think of them. She kind of acts as a conscience for Ron in my head. Thanks for the characterisation compliment, and for the review :)

Ok, so once I'd read the Snape Epitaph I just had to read this one as well.

It's a different tone, obviously, and I really like this one as well. Like in the other one, the humour is very, very good. It's just so Ron (who spoke of Merlin's saggy Y-fronts and the backsides of baboons) to express himself like that. And despite the fact that my fics are all high and mighty angst, the humour is probably what I love the most about HP.

I love the image of him sending up a spark in front of all the people (they've got to be many) who've come to Harry's funeral. It would've made me tear up if I didn't have to keep my coolness in front of my dorm mates ;)

Again, brilliant work. The only criticism I have this time is the constant reference to Hermione being so up-tight. Although, again, this is my own issues; I've been told so many times that I "am" Hermione, and I definitely don't want to be percieved as the strict one.

I'll be watching you as an author!

Author's Response: I'm glad you liked both of these fics enough to review both of them, thank you for that. I'll apologize in advance for the fact I'm probably going to give you a really, really, really long response again. Sorry. No, that's a lie. I'm enjoying responding to your reviews. I have to admit to you, that most of my other fics are much more dark and angsty than this series, like your fics too. These have been the only fics that I feel I have managed to successfully insert jokes into. I'm touched that I nearly made you cry, I admit I was sobbing when I wrote it (When asked about it by family, I was too sad to lie. I'm not allowed to mention HP to them anymore...) and I'm glad that a) I'm not the only sap in the world, and that b) my writing was good enough to make you feel that sad. I like your criticism, I didn't mean for Hermione to come across in this manner. l, like you, am often referred to as a 'Hermione' (although I'm pretty sure I'm more of a Luna), and it does get on my wick. Hermione isn't uptight, I just think that she has strong views on certain issues, the way that people are treated being one of them. Honestly think about it, if someone you knew and loved had an epitaph of 'the time he got so drunk he wet himself made me lol', would you be happy? I'd guess no, most people wouldn't be, that's where Hermione stands. I do know that Hermione is mentioned rather a lot in Ron's mind, but I can't imagine Ron not thinking about Hermione a lot. By this time, they are obviously married, with children, and presumably have a happy marriage (possibly resembling that of Arthur and Molly's). I can see in my mind's eye Hermione's voice actually becoming Ron's conscience. Throughout the books, she does tend to act as conscience for he and Harry. Because Ron loves Hermione so much it's her opinion that matters most to him, so whatever he writes must be as good, if not better than whatever Hermione would write. In essence, Hermione isn't uptight, or strict, she's just caring and has a working conscience. Much thanks for the review :)

Now I'm crying!

Author's Response: Did you like it? I hope you liked it, and that the emotion in the fic moved you. (P.S. if bad writing made you cry, it's clearly untrue - the nargles got into your brain)

I like Ron's voice. Especially that part about sticking his wand in the troll's nose. I loved how you touched on each of those "acheivements" if they can ever be. But they define him, that's true. It's a lovely poignant tale. Thank you for writing this!

Author's Response: I'm so glad that you liked this little ficlet, when the idea came to me there was nobody but Ron who could write the epitaph really, only he would fit in my mind, no matter what I did. And, according with Ron's sense of humour, of course he had to consider the troll! Thanks so much for the review :)

I really liked this fic - you did such a good job of getting inside Ron's head. I think what made this fic great was how you explored what Harry meant to Ron specifically - not who he meant to the wizarding world, or to Ginny or Hermione or his children, but to Ron, his first friend.

I’ve never really thought he was a hero, not after I met him. - I loved this line, because I think it's so true. It would be so easy to think Harry - saviour of the wizarding world, but Ron thinks Harry - my best friend. I liked how Ron went through the process of finding something - moving from Harry's achievements, to what Harry enjoyed, to what Harry really meant. (I almost cried at "An Honorary Weasley".)

You really showed Ron's devastation about losing Harry through simple things, like the lines Who will I beat at Wizard’s chess? Who’ll play Quidditch with me and all of the kids on weekends?.

Your story showed grief and loss, and yet the celebration of someone's life so effectively.

Just one thing - you may (or may not) have made a canon error - you refer to James and Lily and "young Albus" - Albus is actually two years older than Lily.

Anyway, I apologise for rambling so much here.

Author's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed reading this, the plot bunny appeared whilst I was in bed one night, and forced me up at gunpoint to write it. Long story short, I spent the early hours of the morn googling epitaphs and writing this. Thanks for pointing out the canon error regarding Lily and Albus, it's now been changed around. I suppose that James and Lily, and Albus seems to work better in my mind due to reading copious amounts of Marauder-Era fics. Thanks for reviewing this, it means a lot to feel appreciated :)
