Chapter: Seven Years to Live

I did enjoy the ride VERY much! It was bumpy, and tiresome (for Alex) and scary at times!!

I really can't believe some of the stuff the poor thing went through!

The title of the next book sounds intriguing!!! I hope you finish if very soon!

Lots of love and success for you in everything,

Your faithful reader,
K

Author's Response: Thank you for all of your reviews -- the excitement and eagerness with which you reacted to each chapter was often a highlight of my day. :) I hope you'll enjoy the next book as much.

Chapter: The WODAMND Act

Another book finished. Amazing job, as always. So... Max and Martin? That was a little bit of a shocker. I never got that vibe from either of them. I think I'm glad Alexandra's finally accepted that she can't bring Max back. She had to do that in order to truly mourn for him, and now she can finally begin the healing process. It sounds like the next book will be really interesting too- Alexandra's growing up, and she's going to try to find some way to let the wizarding world know about the Deathly Regiment. How does she plan to do that? It would almost be easier in the Muggle world, with TV and everything.
Aww, Alexandra's first date! How cute!
Alright, well I look forward to the next book. It's going to be hard to wait that long.

Oh I am so sad this is over, what a wonderful wonderful story!
The scene with Martin in the crypt was so sweet and tender and sad, I loved it and it was a great way to end it. Also, I like the direction Alex seems to be heading now that she has seven years... more determined, but also more open minded. And of course I loved the hint that she might try to cheat Death once more... because of course she would!
Bravo for a wonderful third year and can't wait for number four!

Author's Response: Thank you very much. Alex is growing, and will continue to grow... I hope you enjoy book four.

Great story!  Can't wait for the next one! 2011 is a long time to wait, but I'm sure it will be well worth it!  I've been reading every book as each chapter comes out (not sure if I've left many reviews).  Just wanted to say great job!  I'm completely hooked!  I am constantly amazed with the wonderful tale that you are weaving.  There is the perfect balance of suspense and information to keep the reader interested.  You are truly a gifted writer and I'll have to poke around your live journal and find your other work as I'm sure it's also very captivating.

Author's Response: Thank you very much. There's not a lot of other fiction I've written (under this name) that isn't posted to MNFF, but I hope you do enjoy my other stuff.

Congratulations on a great story! I truly enjoyed it and I look forward to your next installment. I hope Alex finds a way to overcome her 7-year curse.

Author's Response: Thank you. As for her curse, you can certainly bet she'll try!

Chapter: The Deathly Regiment

WOW all is revealed!
I kind of like Anna's father... he is a strong figure and kind of a jerk, but he has his head screwed on the right way. He is a rational person.
Amazing chapter as usual!!!!

Chapter: The Bone Flute

I hope you don't plan to kill off Charlie. I think Darla's gone 'round the bend. I wonder what else she's been doing since she hasn't been looking too good. I'm also starting to wonder if the Thorn Circle is really to blame for all of these bad things. What happened to past members of the Mors Mortis Society? I'll bet it goes beyond a group of students at the school. I wouldn't be surprised if they were somehow involved in all of the attacks that have been happening. Only a guess though--and I'm usually wrong. Great chapter.

Chapter: The Deathly Regiment

Uhm, yeah, I get it, she did not want her lil sis sacrificed. So instead, she:
-Cursed an innocent (yet annoying) boy.
-Killed her cat.
-Killed the custodian.
-Tried to kill Alex two, no, three times. Without mentioning all the non-lethal cursing she aimed at her.
-Dwelled in Dark Arts like it was a picnic.
-Cursed Sonya.

Am I missing anything?
I know I probably am...

Oh, yeah, THEN she suicided! BTW, she should have noticed Alex had already "payed" that year's debt with the Deathly token and her chance to save Max's life... Bur she still tried to send Innocence to the Land Beyond!

Gosh! This is awful! The Confederation IS worst than Voldemort!! (and Darla too, as far as I'm concerned!) I wonder what does Darla's family think of Alex. Are they grateful that Darla was stopped from killing yet another innocent person? Or furious? Technically, Alex did not kill Darla, but she more or less jumped through the Veil by her own free will...

It's quite interesting that Gemming Chu ended up having to tell Alex about the Confederation's most terrible secret... Because I hope that they don't have worst secrets lying around!! *shudders*

Will Daddy learn about Alex's terrible and impressive adventures? I mean, not only she treated with Death and lived to tell it, AND did some very very brave stuff in order to save two lives! Which she did, in my opinion save, only Darla choose to do otherwise with hers...

Heck! Rather than staring and whispering Alex deserves a monument and a parade!!!! The unfairness of it all simply astounds me!

BTW, Gemming's sollution to the child sacrificing issue was pretty smart! Each Elect should marry a muggleborn and that's it! problem solved! No more sacrifice! Once there's a muggle granma or granpa, that's it! More more purebloods, no more Deathly Regiment!! ;) ;) ;)

LOL! Oh, yeah, the problem is, they'd have to accept someone... lowly!! Oopsy!! Too bad the the Elect children!

BTW, it's quite interesting the fact that Alex CAN tell anyone she wants... Like, say, Larry Albo? Who seems so awfully proud of being part of the Elect!?!?!?!? AH!! Take that you smug punk!

As usual, you never cease to amaze!! Kuddos!

Chapter: The Most Deathly Power

I am sitting here speechless. I just don't know what to say. I'm not sure who's stupid--probably Darla. She really expected Alex to die. I can imagine her shock when Alex came back through the wall. Now I'm kind of giggling hysterically. I think Alex has figured something important and she's certainly flying in the face of expectations. She talked to Death and came back. Too bad she can't really tell anybody about it. No one will beleive her. Excellent chapter.

Chapter: A Life for a Life

Wow, intense! I still don't understand Darla's motivation but I imagine we will learn that soon. I'm glad Alexandra didn't agree to just sacrifice Darla, though if I were in that situation I probably would have thought a bit harder about it. As for the Generous Ones -- are they inspired by some mythology, or something you purely invented? Either way, they're very interesting creatures. Great chapter.

Chapter: Through the Veil

I'm getting stressed out just reading about this. Darla isn't as brave as she'd like us to believe--although she did know some basic things to help Alex on her way. Alex's confidence is so important right now. I was a little surprised that Alex confided in Anna. She had to trust her a lot. I'm sure Alex did look pretty comical when she was on Skuld:D Great chapter.

Chapter: A Life for a Life

Okey... Erhm...

I know you do have a very very very very good explanation for Darla's downright barking madness. I know you do. You wouldn't be the amazying author you are otherwise... It's just... I truly can't wrap my head about the concept of what she did had a justification. Her actions can be seriously compared to Voldy.

Voldy = downright evil, proud of it and trying very hard to bring nastiness to a whole new level.

I say Darla's actions, because not even all the tears in the world and all the last moment screaming can reverse her actions. "I never meant to hurt someone" is nothing after even a quarter of the ATTROCITIES she did.
After killing Innocence's cat she was beyond just "sorry, I didn't mean to".
The news of the Deathly Regiment are spooky, though. The Confederation sacrifices kids!? Really? It explains why they had a school sitting atop the very gateway to the Lands Bellow (instead of, say, a Mount Diablo sort of place?) and never really bothered to close the sub-basements properly... They need kids to be able to get there!!!

Is it really possible that they enlist a kid to take another kid there? The Kreepy Ones are mean and evil, but I doubt they're liars...

And so, the secret of te Deathly Regiment continues... I hope you tell us about it in this book and don't leave it till the next one... You wouldn't be that cruel, right?

At least and at last, Innocence is safe!!! And Alex did no small feat, too. I think she can possibly claim to be bigger than Daddy Thorn. Gone to the Lands Beyond and come back in one piece. She could have brought back Max, had she not been a good person. Gone to the Lands Below, twice. Saved Innocence from the claws of Darla Dearborn...

BTW, where IS Rita Skeeter when you need her? Sure, to throw dirt on Hermione's good name we have a reporter thirsty for scandall, to unveil saucy, awful, grotesque TRUE stories, we're all too afraid of Big Wizard Brother!!! Wimps!!! *snorts*

Alex does deserve a chance to speak to Max one last time... :( Poor thing... I think she has earned it... At least in a dream!!! Poor darling...

And don't even let me get started on the seven years time line topic!!! *shudders* What a decision... What a big fat stroke of ass, too! I guess by a little time she expected something around seven hours!!!!!!!

Dear writer... you never ever ever cease to amaze!!! A W E S O M E!

JKR would be jealous! Should be jealous!

Chapter: A Life for a Life

I haven't left a review in ages, even though I admire this story so much. Today's chapter was...amazing. Frightening. Horrible. Amazing again. A lot of this book has reminded me of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, except that everything in the Lands Below and Beyond is infinitely darker than one measly basilisk. Innocence is a little like Ginny (in role, if not personality), and, as another review mentioned, Alexandra definitely shares Harry's "saving-people-thing". On a completely different note, I don't believe Max is coming back. Don't get me wrong, I miss him as much as everyone else does - and I wish he could come back - but he's not going to. I think in this chapter Alex accepted that a little more than before. But just because he isn't alive doesn't mean he won't reappear later on. Didn't Absalom Thorn say the Deathly Regiment once fought with wizards? I predict Max will come back somehow...but he won't come back to life.

Chapter: The WODAMND Act

What an intense chapter. And now, ladies and gentlemen, Inverarity has finally told us what
(one of) Alexandra's mission(s) is: she will have to defy the kind of unbreakable vow forcing her to sacrifice herself seven years on.

But pray, tell, how will you be able to wrap up such a story with only another two more chapters?

And I wonder, is Death the universal power of magical death, or simply a massive power on formerly Indian territory?

Chapter: A Life for a Life

Oh my god.
Alexandra is so brave- her selflessness and "saving people thing" and quick thinking remind me more of Harry everyday. But is Darla dead now? Will we ever know what her motives were or why she got so crazy or how she is somehow connected to the Deathly Regiment?
Wow, that's all I can say...

I don't mind saying that I'm scared to death for Alex. At the same time I have this crazy hope that she can pull this off. I never really believed that Max was permanently gone. I do believe that a lot of what we accomplish in life depends on confidence and attitude. I'm sending positive thoughts to Alex. Great chapter.

OMG I've just read like, four chapters and ;akmn;oeim;a ie pretty much accurately describes it. I not only just read four chapters in quick succession, but read them breathlessly, at the edge of my seat, gasping in all the right places and talking out loud to my computer.

Great great chapters and eek! I can't wait for the next ones! I desperately hope that my work doesn't keep me away for so long again!

Speechless. Please update soon!!!!

Riveting. But why doesn't she try to summon that house elf who lives with the Generous Ones? He is free, and free to listen to her, just like Dobby was free to listen to Harry Potter.
