Totally reiterating what all the other reviews have said: everything was so funny! Skeeter and Fudge being typical, the names, the truth...just everything. I'm glad you gave Aberforth and Order of Merlin too. My only problem is, as he's told the truth, what happens to him? Does he get his long overdue years in Azkaben or his Order taken away? Or does he live out the rest of his life peacefully in the Hogs Head?
But anyway, just another brilliant piece of work!

Author's Response: Thank you very much. I think that as several decades have passed since the offence and Aberforth is a hero that he'll get off and live his life in the Hogs Head with his goats. Poor Aberforth.

Thanks again ~Carole~

Oh, poor Aberforth! And how exactly like Fudge, showing up at the worst possible time. Really, you have to wonder where he put the front half of the horse...

Author's Response: Typical Fudge 'Tch!' Glad you liked the stroy, I had fun writing it, ~Carole~

Awww, I've never read that before. So cute <3

Author's Response: Thank you, Elene. Hmm, goats are cute? I would have thought the opposite, but they have a peculiar charm. hee hee ~Carole~

Love it! Finally, the solution to the goat-mystery. And it explains his Patronus, too.

Author's Response: Thank you. I always wondered about the goats and wanted a non-salacious reason. G;ad you enjoyed the story. ~Carole~

What a wonderful story. It really does justice to Aberforth, and it makes ou feel a bit sorry that his happy ending never happened. I ove the way in which it is told.

Author's Response: Thank you very much. The credit for the style belongs to The mod who set the challenge. I enjoyed writing it though. Thanks again ~Carole~

exceptional entertainment. I loved it. This is two pieces of yours I've come across by accident and thought were great to read. i look forward to more of your work =)

Author's Response: Thank you. I've written quite a lot, so maybe you'll find something else to enjoy.

Oh, Carole. I loved this so much. It was funny, it was sweet, and so true to the characters. I love how you took the rumors surrounding Aberforth and turned it into something original and completely believable. Sad to see Florence married to someone else, but I suppose it's just as well. You definitely captured Aberforth's character and I could sense something of a reminiscent youth when he recounted the story. Couldn't help but giggle when Fudge asked why there had been a Memory Charm cast on a goat. Wonderful job and I can't wait to read more from you! This was definitely worthy of a QSQ.

Author's Response: Thank you. I had a lot of fun with this story, although it was hard work at times. I was thrilled with the QSQ for it, too. Glad you enjoyed it. Carole

Haha. This was really funny - it reminds me of a Marauder Era fic when Remus, I think, Transfigured Mrs Norris into a girl by accident or something, and Filch was all over her, which explained why he was so attached to her. This really made me LOL. Nice one!

Author's Response: Thank you. I had a lot of fun writing this one, especially Flossy the goat. Glad you enjoyed it. ~Carole~

Awwhhh... Poor Abe. Such a tragic thing to happen to him. :(

But on the bright side, he did not fiddle with any goats!! Brave man Abe... setting the record straight.

Pretty imaginative to come up with a way to turn around a potentially kinky story into a love affair gone bad. Kudos for yet another highly amusing and enjoyable one-shot.

Author's Response: Of course he didn't fiddle with a goat! He's an honourable man. ha ha. Glad you liked it. i think his story needed to be told

Carole, I really loved this one. You do know how I have always itched to know what was up with Aberforth and goats, and I am so glad someone at least decided to get to the bottom of it.

I loved how you wrote Aberforth and Dumbledore here. Aberforth with his raw humour and recklessness, and Albus with his dry humour and...ability to set things right - they were done very nicely.

Apart from those two, I also loved the invisible editor who kept appearing via his/her notes. Haha! I really loved that line:

[Editors Note: Keep that in. I don’t think any ‘flibberty-gibbet girls’ read Stirring, anyway.]

That was plain funny.

Well, great entry and good luck!

Author's Response: Thank you, Natalie. Well, it's a daft one, but was fun to write, so we'll see.

PS. I also though Aberforth's names were brilliant and wanted to ask you how you came up with them. That was one of the funniest parts! That and the bit about the really strong elderflower wine, lol.
Good inclusion of Fudge. Let's ruin his reputation a bit more, why don't we? ;)
And you are not the only person who liked the Epilogue. I like it too, in spite of all its sugary sappiness and fanfic-cy cliche. ;)
~Gina :)

Author's Response: Umm, the names. Okay well Albus' names are a mixture of family, (Percival), Anglo Saxon (Wulfric) and the Brian is just a name that always amuses me ... so I had Bertram for no reason except I was thinking of Jeeves and Wooster, Fulke because it's Old-English and Kevin because it's a bit of a joke name in UK (sorry all you Kevin Costner fans).

I bet this was fun to write! Were you grinning as you typed? Because I was smiling as I read it. What a great job you've done with Aberforth's character! You've captured his gruffness and yet softened it just enough so we sympathize for him. Your take on the goat charm is perfect-of course that's what happened! I say make it canon, lol! I love that Albus helped him out without laughing. I know that Aberforth did not seem to have a great opinion of his brother in DH, but I'd like to think there was something there.
Great idea to give him the Order of Merlin as a way to bring it all up again. I loved the inclusion of Neville. And you made me hate Rita Skeeter all over again, she's a rotten witch! The ending was very touching. I could see another sentence or paragraph to wrap it up, but the last line works well too.
Great story, good luck in the challenge! ~Gina :)
PS. So do you think Aberforth ever found another love? :)

Author's Response: I was giggling as I wrote it, or rather when I started it. By the end I was weeping for Aberforth and long-lost Flossy... I mean Florence. I don't think he ever found another love, but I like to think he named all his goats Flossy in memory of that one tumble on the picnic blanket. Yeah, Rita is still as rotton as ever, ans she would want to know all about the goats. Thanks for the review ~Carole~

Finally somebody decides to write a piece on Aberforth Dumbledore. I've bben waiting for anyone to do this well, and you certainly gave him a voice. In my opinion, Aberforth makes the whole point of DH. Although it was the final piece, I think it was poorly written (you don't want me to get started on that damn epilogue and how it sparls the poorest fan fiction pieces), a poor excuse to what many of us consider our young sdult literature pieces that made us want to read.

I absolutely love your introduction. He's formal because of his age, yes, but he is so tomhur-and cheek.. The name thing? Carole, that is brillance, really. And Rita shows up and he's like, 'yeah, whatever, I'm wiping countertops.' And the goats? He would be nothing without those goats.

I enjoyed the 'Editor's Notes' simply because it showed voice and your flow with different mediums. You are quite the Marauder Era writer, of course, but I like how you can expand and really get into other characters' heads. And, as you know, you never write cliches or flowery detail. You know YAL.

The trial? Did I say anything about the trial? Loved it. Well, it was not a trial played out in the Ministry as much as that line. Albus might have smiled ... yes. You did not make this angst at all, but you defined the essence of a character. I liker that you hinted at a repaired mutual relationship.

Very well done. What a picture.

Author's Response: Thank you, Jennifer. This was a lot of fun to write, so I'm pleased you enjoyed reading it. Aberforth and his goats always make me smile. ~Carole~ PS - I think I'm the only person in the universe who likes the Epilogue - ha ha.

Author's Response: Yes, but then Aberforth didn't dispute anything...

Of course not... the truth was worse than the fool's assumption, at least as far as Azkaban time is concerned.

Thanks for writing another great piece.

Author's Response: Thanks again ~Carole~

Of course Fudge would jump to the wrong conclusion...

Well, it was fun to read! At last, the truth about those "inappropriate charms" -- really clever.

Author's Response: Thank you for the review, and I'm pleased you thought the story fun to read. ~Carole~

Very entertaining. What a fabulous take on just a snippet of information in canon. It had that perfect blend of humorous irony that peppers real life. Bravo!

Author's Response: Thank you very much for the review. I'm pleased you enjoyed the story. Poor old Aberforth, he never quite lived down the 'goat charming'.
