This was a pleasant read. I was a little surprised that Jack did not get sorted, but then neither did the Beauxbaton and Durmstrang guest were sorted in book 4. On the other hand they were introduced, so it seems odd that McGonagall did not introduce Jack since he was an exchange student. It would also imply that a Hogwarts student is in America.

Anyway good start.

Author's Response: The author explains to me that Jack was not an exchange student, but rather simply received an invitation from Harry Potter and accepted. He notes that perhaps McGonagall did not want to draw attention to Jack by introducing him.
