I, too, felt that DH was unfinished going into the epilogue. I love your take on it, and I enjoyed your inclusion of Mrs. Weasley finding out about the young couples, the turning down of the biographer, and Fawkes.
Harry`s radio tale at the end was a good idea - nice closure.
I just realized that I have read and reviewed this before. Huh. Short memory! Anyway, I still enjoy it!
Author's Response: Hi, CJ--it's been awhile! I was also delighted to get an email yesterday announcing your next chapter. I can't wait to grab a hot chocolate tonight and curl up to read it. What a treat! Thanks for continuing your great series and for getting in touch again.
This was great! It fit in perfectly and this chapter or one similar to this would be perfect for that place in DH. Also I don't know if you were trying to do this or not, but your writing seemed sort of similar to J. K. Rowling's, which, in my opinion, is neccesary for missing moments like this. Great job!
Author's Response: Thanks so much for taking the time to review--I'm sorry it took me so long to see it and respond. Yes, I was indeed trying to mimic JKR's writing style and her versions of people's accents, etc. I'm so glad it worked for you! Thanks for the kudos, and have a great Thanksgiving.
Love it!!!! That chapter should have been in the book. It really tops things off.
Author's Response: So sorry for the delay in responding--I never got an alert about this review. Thanks SO MUCH for taking the time to let me know your response. I'm delighted you enjoyed it!
I've just re-read this story and am glad I did. I'd forgotten so much. I still enjoy it, Becky. Any plans on writing more stories in future? cj
Author's Response: Boy, I sure would love to. Especially after reading your most recent chapter and getting back into that world after a long break now. I just need the motivation for a particular storyline. The first one was so inspired by my desperate need for closure on the last book that it almost came easily. But I haven't felt inspired by any particular thing off-canon, and I feel like continuing with the story I started might lead to too much piggy-backing off ideas that have already been used now. I might just have to be content with your continuing saga :). Although the Twilight series has helped fill the void nicely as well...
I have to say I really love this chapter. I couldn't take my eyes off of it when I started reading it. I also felt there was something missing at the end. The chapter you made really fits well. Thank you so much for writing this chapter and sharing it with us Harry Potter fans!
Author's Response: And thank YOU for taking the time to let me know how you felt about it. It means everything to know that other people are enjoying reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Happy Holidays!
OMG, That was BRILLIANT! I loved it. Upon finding it, I thought,"wonderful idea, i hope its good." Well you more than surpassed my expectations. You tied up loose ends I hadnt even realized i wanted to know about until you mentioned it. Things like, how Harry met Teddy or about the announcement about Victoire. (Although I think you made a mistake there. She should be only about 16 or 17 if she is in her last year at Hogwarts when Teddy is 19.) I loved that you stayed true to canon. A lot that is written about them after DH either shows both couples happily together or broken up and with other people. Its nice that you showed them together but also the hesitation and awkwardness they felt at new love and rekindling love. I think you should seriously consider writing about their first 5 years after the great battle. You would do a fantastic job. (Although I try to always give positive reviews at least to some degree.. No, i dont always give such glowing reviews. :) )
Author's Response: WOW--thanks SO much for such a detailed and enthusiastic review. I can't begin to tell you how much it means. I, too, much prefer to read fics that are completely canon-compliant and was striving for that in the chapter. (I see another one of your favorites is by cjbaggins; I've enjoyed her work as well. I think we're two of the more "senior" members of this writing community, as mothers who are the biggest HP fans in their houses.) Thanks for pointing out the flaw with Victoire. Now that you mention it, there are a whole bunch of facts I went back to check as I was writing: specific accents, spellings, character catchphrases, Hogwarts layouts, etc., but for some reason I never went back to check on Victoire's age. Oops! Maybe if I do continue on, I'll find a way to fix it. It's certainly tempting to write some more, as I had a fantastic time doing it for this chapter. Thanks again for taking the time to comment, and happy reading!
this was an awesome last chapter! I liked the way you started it you with a dream. This is definite going into my favorites.
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I'm delighted you enjoyed it.
Yeah, sounds like all the authors on here enjoy reviews loads...!
This was absolutely terrific. The moment with Teddy made so much sense. I'm also so glad you didn't make the reunion between Ginny and Harry an intense snog-fest. Your way was much more genuine. Thanks for writing!
Author's Response: Thanks so much for taking the time to review. Although the romantic in me can never get enough of Harry and Ginny, I truly didn't think Harry would dive right back in like that, nor do I think JKR would have done so if she'd continued for that one additional chapter. A couple weeks later, however... :) Thanks for the comments!
That's cool... so writing would be like a hobby for you, right?
When you submitted this...how long did it take for you to get a response?
Author's Response: Yup, just a hobby, motivated by my love of HP. It took almost 2 full weeks in the queue to get validated. Once it was up, though, it was read by over 100 people the first day and got a few reviews. It's addictive, hearing from readers. So much fun!
Please do. Your writing skills are truly amazing! I find the English teacher who gets to read your essays quite lucky!
Author's Response: I'm sure my English teacher FATHER would love to take all of the credit. English essays are thankfully a good 20 years in past for me, so luckily I just get to do it for fun now. :)
Do you have any other stories up like this? If you do, please let me know...
Author's Response: This is my only one so far, but thanks for the vote of confidence! I had so much fun writing this one that I'm tempted to try another sometime...
I enjoyed this. I wasn't sure I would as my long chaptered fic and a one-shot begin with the same premise, and we all want to believe our stuff is the best, right? Anyway, as I say, I enjoyed it. I thought Harry's statement on one last Potterwatch was a great touch - wish I'd thought of it! cj
Author's Response: Love your comments--thanks so much for sharing them. Now that I've written mine, I'm so anxious to see what others have written about the same time period immediately after the Battle. I'll definitely check yours out.
loved it. should be in the book!! much truer representative of the characters than you often see here in fan fiction. I think that is exactly how Ginny & Harry got back together.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I truly wanted it to read like it was part of the book, and your comment means a great deal. (Although I took some liberties with the snorkack--I doubt JKR would have gone that far... ) :)
I LOVED it!! I had to stop reading for a few minutes at the funeral scene because i was crying so hard though. But it was wonderfully written. Well Done!!
Author's Response: I'm elated to hear that it touched you--I just couldn't bear to jump 19 years into the future without spending some time saying goodbye to such beloved characters. Thanks for the review!
I agree that your "missing chapter' would have been a good addition tothe DH. Hope tosee more of your work in the future.
Author's Response: Thanks so much for taking the time to review--it means a lot!
The story is truly touching. I don't know how many times I cried while reading it. Good job! Keep it up!
Author's Response: Thanks so much for writing--I'm so glad it touched you.
i must say i quite agree that there was something missing there, bt yet...not. you know? anyways, i suppose that's why she's writing a guide to fill in the blanks?
Author's Response: If she actually fills in that many blanks I'll be THRILLED!!! Can't wait for the Encyclopedia (or The Scottish Book, as she calls it). Thanks for the review.
It was excellent and I thank you!
Author's Response: You're welcome--thanks for the review!
