I think this is an excellent portrayal of young Sirius and the way things just are in the Black household. And the present tense works perfectly for this story. I'm really glad I took a moment to read it because it's very good and touching. My favourite part would be:
He’s not used to dependency. He’s used to unpredictable tempers and house elves that creep up in the shadows unexpectedly and wheeze insults under their breath, and little brothers who change and grow when you aren’t looking.
All in all, a great read!

YES, you wrote a fic about how Sirius left his "fathers house", I'm so pleased that you did it! I was looking for a fic like this for a long time now, but I haven't found one, that was well written and not too brutal, but believable! Yours had everything! At "The Time of Our Lives" I already said how I love your Sirius, the same goes here too!
I hope you continue this :D

I liked this. The part about the dog was good, as was Sirus commenting that it was like everything in the house. Nothing was mentioned but it was obvious what had happened.
Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked it. The dog was orginally added as an homage to Sirius's animagus form, but it grew into this much more dark sub-plot. What can I say? Thanks so much for the review! -Ashley
