so Hermione's trying to costume Harry as the Phantom of the Opera-interesting. Are you familiar with Doctor Who? It's a British sci-fi show, and it is extremely popular (it has the same popularity level as Harry Potter-with its own icons). I think Harry should have been the Doctor, dressed up as either the Fourth (because that's the most iconic Doctor who look) or the Tenth Doctor (because that's my favorite). Look it up online and see the different Doctors that have been portrayed, since the series aired 1963 (so far ten actors have portrayed the Doctor, hence the titles of First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Doctors for the actors).

Author's Response: I think the idea for the Dr. Who tie-in is brilliant. Especially when you consider that one of the recent incarnations is played by the same chap who played Barty Crouch, Jr. in the Goblet of Fire film. I can just imagine Harryís internal conflict over the messages that his subconscious choice of a costume is sending him. That being said, Iím not certain that I could have gotten that idea to fit within the Mugglenet guidelines since the Dr. Who character is copyrighted to its creator (or maybe even the BBC). Iím not sure I could have gotten around that by describing his costume in such a way that readers would catch on. Am gratified to know that you were able to identify Harryís costume as the Phantom of the Opera from the clues I was able to give. Iím not 100% certain that Lloyd Webber doesnít have some sort of claim on that title so I didnít dare refer to it by name in my story. Harryís choice of costume becomes too crucial to the plot for me to risk having the moderators tell me that I had to edit that part out. What can I tell you? Lawyers rule the world and Iím just a lowly wordsmith! Thanks for giving me the opportunity to chase the dream though. More costume fun to come with new chapter that is being uploaded today.

A Halloween Costume Ball? Based on the American custom? And dressed up as fictional Muggle characters? Cool!! I wonder if the Quartet (Ginny included) would dress up as Star Wars characters (like R/Hr as Han Solo and Princess Leia and H/G as Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade). I read a story a long time ago (can't remember the title) that also had a costume party, but the staff was dressed as Star Wars characters (dumbledore as a jedi, possibly Obi-Wan-he even enchanted his wand to make it look like a lightsaber; McGonagall as Princess Leia-she wore the buns; Hagrid as Chewbacca; Flitwick as an Ewok-though I think he should have been Yoda; then again, it could be a reference that the actor who plays Professor Flitwick in the HP films-Warwick Davis-appeared as an Ewok in ROTJ as Wicket, the Ewok who finds Princess Leia; Sprout was probably an imperial guard; and Snape as-himself, but I think he should have, by Dumbledore's urging, wore a cloak like the Emperor or wore an enchanted Darth Vader mask).

Author's Response: I think those are all great ideas! I, too, am a great fan of Star Wars. But since someone already went in that direction, I'm glad I decided to go a different route or my story might have been deleted for inadvertent plagarism. I'm sure the Ewok thing was an inside joke, an Easter Egg as the filmakers refer to it and an homage to Lucas who puts Easter Eggs in all of his films. The coincidental thing is that I used Flitwick as the punster in my story as well, so great minds do think alike to some degree. Hope you're not disappointed with my costuming ideas.

ohhhhhh what hatppened to her can't wait to find out.

Author's Response: I think you will definitely be surprised, but anything else that I say will just ruin it. Let's just say it gets a lot more complicated, there is more than one plot afoot!

Another good chapter. It sounds like it going to get complicated, good good good. Its also great to see characters we didn't get to see much of in JKR's version

Author's Response: Thanks for the words of encouragement. Yes, it's going to get complicated indeed, just like real life. Every little thing feeds into another. I've fleshed out a lot of the characters that were left by the wayside so I think you'll be pleased. Keep on reading!

good one, i love how neville is inculided in all this. it's nice to see him shown in the light he deserves.

Author's Response: Glad to hear you've enjoyed the story so far. Neville's going to be a crucial player, just wait and see.

what is with all the typos? or weird characters like teacherr17;s

Author's Response: Thank you so much for catching this. (Awards 50 House Points) Peeves has moved into my ancient computer at home and this is what happened when I went to made two tiny little edits. I have corrected everything manually from another site so hopefully no one else will be inconvienced. Do you have any idea where I can find Peeves a new agent that will get him another sodding movie? He says nudity is not a problem...

Captivating's the word. I feel like I'm reading yet another book from the series itself. You've done a great job with the characters... Keep it real! And UPDATE SOON, I can't wait to read what happens next!

Author's Response: Thanks! Glad to know you're enjoying it so far -- it's going to be a long ride. Next chapter is already in queue. Updates should come as quickly as I can get them approved as I am ahead of the curve on this one.

Well, this should be an interesting 7th year for the Trio. And I like the enchanted garden, it sounds so lovely, and yes Neville would swoon at that luscious paradise.
It sounds like McGonagal wants to add her touch to Hogwarts. She maybe a tough and gruff teacher, but I truly think she has a heart and a fierce determination to make things right.
I am really enjoying this story and I'll look forward to the next update!

Author's Response: I always thought McGonagall had a lot of fire in her after the way she stood up to Umbridge in Book 5. I was rather disappointed when I read that JKRowling indicated in an interview that she thought McGonagall was a bit too old to take over the reins at Hogwarts. Considering McGonagall's supposed to be in her 70's and Dumbledore was at least 120, doesn't this sound like a bit of sexism? In rebuttal, I paint my version of the new headmistress as being more progressive.

Whoa! Is'nt that one of the Horcruxes? Good thing Harry grabbed it before he diapparated.
And Ron was upset over that eye thing, that he took from his brothers. Hopefully, he won't get into too much trouble...
Great chapter and it looks like a great story!

Author's Response: Glad to hear you're enjoying the story so far. I wouldn't worry too much about Ron -- he's one of those people that can fall in the mud and come up dry.

well done, i like the way the trio speaks and how you stay true to the other books. keep up the good work, can't wait for the next chapter

Author's Response: Thanks for the kind word of encouragement. Uploading Chapter 4 right now.

Oooo! another cliffhanger! They managed to avoidd whomever was in the house. And Ron's griping about his Evil Eye being left behind. I t will be interesting to see who is after them.
Someone said that it was Kreacher, in the Foe Glass, and he may be under the Imperious curse.
I look forward to reading the next chapter!

Author's Response: These first two chapters are very much like "The Riddle House" that appears at the start of The Goblet of Fire in that they set the wheels in motion, but we do not return to those issues until later in the story. The next chapter goes off in another direction. Hope you aren't disappointed. All your questions will be answered in due time, I promise.

Oooo! Kind of spooky! Grimauld Place sounds like a haunted house now, and with all the damage too.
Maybe someone was looking for Harry and tore the place up in doing so.
Too bad about Buckbeak and his reaction to Sirius' death.
I am curious to see who's coming and whether they'll be dangerous.

Author's Response: Glad to hear you're enjoying what you've read so far. I am really enjoying writing this.
