Chapter: Interlude

I really enjoyed this extra insight into "The Beast Within". Provides much more background and gives Harry and Ron a bit more depth.

Author's Response: Thanks. I know the story isn't actually about Harry and Ron, but since they're involved I thought it best to round them out a bit. I don't want them to come off as evil, merely stupid.

Chapter: Interlude

This was a good companion chapter (is that what I should call it?). I just really like how you portray Ron and Harry; it is very believable, unlike the fics where they're just horrible monsters, or the ones where Ron and Harry are rational and don't get angry. The Beast Within is probably one of my favorite Dramione's.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I wanted to give Harry and Ron some depth and to show that they're not the bad guys - just not making very good decisions, either. I'm flattered you like TBW so much :)

Chapter: Interlude

wow, this was great!!!
it was really great to see some insight into ron and harry's thoughts. it really gave them more dimensions in the context of the story.
and, i can understand a little of their issues... but they're still pretty clueless about how to go about anything.
and their still prats. hahh.
but anyway, this was awesome!! very well done. oh and i loved this:

'What this was was a stunning example of yet another failed Potter Plan. '
hahha, so true.

oh, and something just crossed my mind.. Hermione was instructed to give those memories of Snape's to Harry, wasn't she? cuz if she just did, it mightve saved everyone alot of chaos.
but, then again, when faced with trying circumstances those two boys are rarely in the state where they can grasp anything rational, no matter how someone tries... hah.

anyway, loved it!!

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you liked it, because I'm horrible at writing from Harry's point of view. They are clueless and, yes, they are still prats.

The memories were, in fact, intended for Harry, but Hermione made an intuitive and wise triage decision. She decided that because they were from Snape Harry would either 1) not watch them at all out of spite, or 2) watch them and deduce the exact opposite of what he was supposed to deduce because of his intense hatred for Snape. Alas, I admit that it never crossed my mind for Snape to anticipate this and leave them directly to Hermione anyways. Damn.

Thanks again! I'm still perfecting the next installment, and I hope it won't take me much longer :)

Chapter: Interlude

Nice interlude, though not of your usual level of writing about human interaction, my main attraction to your fiction.
The Beast Within is about Hermione and Draco, it is the best piece of fiction around on this pairing of JKR's characters.
Harry and Ron play only subordinate roles.

TBW is very AU, I think the Trio is beyond repair now and can only be brought back together when Draco sacrifices himself in such a way he is redeemed in Harry and Ron's opinion (just like Snape was in DH), so at least they do not hate him anymore.
Draco dying will change Hermione forever and she is so pure a person she will never be the same Hermione again. I find it very unbelievable she and Ron will get back together just like before.

Besides, in TBW, Hermione and Draco are in it together and you have written Draco is such a way that he is a far more intellectually challenging and stimulating partner for Hermione that canon Ron will ever be.

Concluding, I await the progression and conclusion of your superb piece of fiction with great anticipation.
Keep writing and Good Inspiration to you, Ruby.

Author's Response: Thank you. *sigh* I know it was far from my best, but 1) I'm terrible at writing from Harry and Ron; I just can't get inside their heads well enough to do them justice. 2) I literally sat down and wrote this over the course of only a few hours (something that never, ever happens), so I did not, nor did I wish to agonise over it like I do every chapter of TBW. I wrote the interlude mainly for the handful of readers who were really concerned with H&R's point of view, so I obliged.

Hm... I'm not sure how to respond to any of the second paragraph without giving anything away, but I can promise that Hermione and Ron will never, ever in any fic I ever write end up together. Yuck.

Thanks again for the review. The next chapter is mostly complete, but I'm just not as pleased with it as I should be. It will need some tweaking before I'll like it enough to post it.
