Chapter: Accusations

I'm in love again. I read your story a while ago, and just rediscovered it. It's wonderful! Your description of life in a small English village a few hundred years ago seems very accurate. Plus, the ending, where it is revealed that this is the story of the Fat Friar, is a neat plot twist.

Author's Response: Thank you for kind review. This is my favorite story, I had a lot of fun looking up the historically details for this fic.

This story was so cleverly written, I had no idea until the end who Nathaniel eventually became. It was a really cool idea to make a story during the time of witch hunts, and then to tie it all into the life of a Hogwarts ghost. I hope you write more stuff like this.

Author's Response: Thanks, it was the challenge prompt that inspired this one. I hope I can come up with more because this was a blast to write. I'm glad you enjoyed this, thanks for the review.

Finally, I am able to review. Gonz, this story was absolutely beautiful. There's so much I would like to say, but it's nearly impossible to put it in words. Just know this story was captivating.

Author's Response: Thanks so much! I glad you liked and I love my lovely banner. *Huggles my secret Badger*

Absoluely wonderful piece. You deal with conroversial issues in the fandom- muggle/wizard relationships, religion, faith- with a depth that I've never seen before. Good use of biblical allusions too. Congrats!

Author's Response: Thanks for your congratulations, I was absolutely shocked when I read the results. I really did enjoy writing this story and having an opportunity to explore religious questions was an added bonus. Plus I had two Catholics fact checking me, so I was careful in that regard. Thanks for your review!

Unbelieveable! Well, not entirely accurate. Very believeable, which is why it is so... You get the idea.

You have presented a very plausible and moving story of the origins of The Fat Friar, and I was very interested in how you effectively tied together religion and magic. I've often wondered what would happen to Christian (or any other) teachings after one found out they could do magic. Do wizards and witches have a religious docterine of their own? I enjoyed your take on this.

Well done!

Author's Response: Thanks for your thoughts. As for the accuracy look at my response to tyko's review. I tried to change as little as possible to make it work. The fact that the Fat Friar exists brings up the question of Christianity and witchcraft, but the fact that he's ghost added a whole different level of questions for me perrsonally. How could somehow who is a pious Christian give up heaven to become a ghost. So that was really the question I explored in this fic. Thanks for such a lovely review!

Chapter: In His Hands

Wonderful story! When I was first reading it I was wondering why on Earth it was in a Harry Potter fan fic website, when it had nothing to do with Harry Potter, but I'm glad I finished the story and found out that it's actually very much related to the Magical World. Great job!!!

Author's Response: I can see how that could be confusing conisdering no one uses magic until the thrid chapter. I happy though I managed to trick someone about Nathaniel's true identity. Thanks for thoughts they are appreciated!

This is all right. But I don't think the Inquisition burned witches, just "heretics."

Author's Response: During the late 13th century the Inquisition did investigate witchcraft, but it was secondary to rooting out herectics. Though you are right about witch burnings. No witches were ever burned in England; they were hanged. But Jo said burning in her books so I went with her word for her universe. Thanks for your thoughts.

I really like the way you've portrayed Nathaniel's character. Could he perhaps become the Fat Friar? You've shown an interesting perspective of not only how Muggles viewed witchcraft, but also how Wizards viewed Muggles and the Church. Well done and I look forward to your next chapter!

Author's Response: Thanks a bunch for the review! I had fun with Nathaniel and I'm glad you enjoyed him. As a history and religion major, I jumped for joy when I saw a challenge that let me have fun with both in a HP tale. Thanks again!
