I loved it!! can't wait for the next four chapters!!
Author's Response: Two of them have posted, so I can't wait for you to read them! ^_~
Another great chapter. I read it last night on that other fanfic site, but wasn't able to leave a review, so I was thrilled to see it had been updated here today. I enjoyed this chapter, especially George's still-raw expressions of grief. I agree with another reviewer that your portrayal is real and touching. I get tired of some fics that deal with a grieving family member for a couple of weeks and then suddenly they're back to normal. Reality is far from that! Fortunately, you've captured reality I believe. I also greatly enjoyed the frequent mentions of breastfeeding and its idiosyncrasies. As a breastfeeding counsellor I appreciated the humour in those moments and the fact that you made it all very normal instead of 'special' as some insist on doing. Looking forward to the last chapters. cj
Maybe it helps to have grieved...and still get choked up over songs on the radio, but you're right, there is no getting back to normal suddenly and even if all someone has is imagination to color their story, they should still know better.
Wow, you're a breastfeeding counsellor! I'll be interested in your feedback on ch 40! (there's a naturalness to labor and delivery too, heehee)
awsomeness I always love this story it is so good
Author's Response: Thank you so much for keeping with the story, through all the site glitches and update delays! I heart you for that. :)
Another good one. How sad at the end, but we all need to grieve in our own time.
Can't wait for the next chapter.
Author's Response: Grief isn't a tidy, linear path, is it? Sometimes you're doing well and then all of a sudden, it hits you, the magnitude of what you've lost. George will soon gain a blessing...but not next-chapter-soon, heh.
I am impressed and touched by how you have handled Georges grief. I has been 28 years since my brother died and his absense is still very real. He never saw me marry or saw his nephews born. I tell my boys about him but it will be many years before it really makes sense to them. I see George healing in his time to tell his baby about Fred.
Thank you for saying that! Your boys will appreciate their uncle from your stories, and hopefully appreciate that their mum has such a loving heart to make him come alive for them. :)
all the baby things sound adorable... and the chocolate gives me ideas... :)
Baby gear is adorable...I spent way too much time looking at the stuff online, thinking it was so cute, LOL.
Ideas are good. ;)
I thought of Narnia when you said the White Witch, although I've never read what it is that you actually did reference. I did catch the Wicked reference, and I liked that you used Galinda rather than Glinda. I think she should have kept it, even if it was a tribute to the Goat; Galinda is much prettier. I absolutely adore Calvin and Hobbes, I've never thought of it before, but that is a really great way to think of Fred and George. Too funny. Great chapter, update again soon please!
Author's Response: 'White witch' is just a generic term for good witch, and I'm with you about Galinda! George is Hobbes, of course, because he likes girls and smooches, LOL.
I love your story.
the idea was good to do george, but i didnt know how far you could take it
you proved me wrong =)
Author's Response: Thank you for giving the story a chance! *hugs*
like the stonehenge cuz fred wanted too.
Author's Response: The thought of the family staring at a cake with 'Happy Birthday George' on it about made me ill, so I'm glad you like George's alternative celebration! :)
wow really really good. its like the best i've read. great idea, too! cheers!
Author's Response: Ta, thanks! Jo gave it to me by leaving George out of the epilogue. I'm so glad she did! :)
Wonderful to see George finding a way to celebrate their birthday! Baby soon?
Soon if you put it in the perspective that there's only three more chapters, lol. I promise the last couple of chapters will be longer than average and it won't be baby's born, the end, :D.
Great chapter! It made me cry... Update soon!
Author's Response: Thank you for being a sensitive soul! I'll certainly try!
Another good one, my dear. I caught the Wicked reference, but I thought the White Witch reference was from Narnia.
I started to get a little weepy at the end, my heart does feel for George and dealing with his loss. I'm glad he has Alicia to lean on. With sorrow comes a little joy.
Unitl next time.
I should have realized that would happen, lol, but I was using White Witch in the general, "good witch" way. :D
George has more to work through before the story's over, but he will have Alicia to lean on...and a few others, too. ;)
I love this story, I loved this chapter, and really would love it if you updated soon!
Keep up the good work. 10/10
Oh, that song you had in the Author's notes is on a 'don't speed' add here in australia and it makes me cry every time I see it. So, I found it funny some how that you added that part in the end.
~ Parchment and Quill
Author's Response: Thank you! The Cure is classic and that song all-purpose angst. :) That's a good use for it, and a don't drink and drive campaign would be, too.
Author's Response: Merci, mademoiselle! :)
'with a witch and a house elf' LOL! Thanks for the reassurance! Good point and very true about there not really being anything new. I always wonder how we ever get new songs written when it's always the same 7 notes over and over! cj
Author's Response: How those notes are arranged make all the difference. ;) I hope you're having a good time writing. I'm still in the planning stage of my novel, and even that's so much more stressful and 'work' than fan fiction.
I enjoyed this. It was a nice touch to have them go to Stonehenge because Fred had wanted to. As George toasted his twin, though, I cringed because in an original story I've only partly written, the surviving twin does the same thing. Now, if I ever get it published, you'll be suing me for royalties! cj
Not unless he goes to Stonehenge with a witch and a house-elf, LOL.
There are no new ideas, only new ways of making them felt. If we tried to count the number of stories where one surviving twin made a toast to the other, we'd probably give up before the list gave out, but all that matters is that no one's done it like we have. :)
i couldnt imagine going through a birthday after losing your twin... i'm glad he didnt push alicia away though... i cant wait to meet the baby!!
Author's Response: It's awful, isn't it? George is showing he's changed from the beginning of the story, but he's still got a little ways to go yet! :)
chocolate ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh THAT IS EVERYONES ONE TRUE WEAKNESS
Author's Response: Especially when it's paired with sex, lol. ;)
SO AWESOME. PLEASE WRITE MORE AND FASTER! I LOVE IT.
Thank you! I'll do my best to update soon! :)
