I like it, but your bits in the beginning with you taking were kind of confusing. It's a good story though. I can't wait to read the next chapter.
I'm afraid the characterisation didn't really work for me in this chapter. Firstly, Dumbledore is such a commanding figure that I cannot imagine him not having the full attention of his audience (except perhaps Slytherins...) throughout his speach. I also felt the wording was out in his explanation for choosing Mayfoy. Rather than stating that Gryffindor and Slytherin have been enemies, he is more likely to draw our attention to interhouse unity etc. I also felt the final scene was totally out of character for all concerned; while Ron is often outraged a Hermione, he should know she had no influence on the decision.
I'm sorry this sounds horribly negative. I'm still enjoying your story very much, I just feel more careful characterisation would make it even better.
