I suppose Selena is somehow related to Luna? This story was awesome!!!!!!!! How ever I'd you come up with this?
I wish I could write a longer review but my few words will have to suffice.
If you ever wish to play a game of Quidlo, you could always contact me. ;) Unless, of course, you'd rather play Quillidillo! Sigh. One of the funniest stories ever!!!!!!!
Author's Response: I had guessed (incorrectly) that Luna was Mr Ollivander's granddaughter after having found that their eyes were described very similarly. Unfortunately, the release of DH shot a rather large hole in this theory. So yes, I had intended for Luna to be a descendant of Selena.
I would love to play a game of Quidlo or Quilidillo. I call Chaser! ...and will need to ask Lydia to lend me her Thestral. ;)
Thanks,
Hypatia
Lovely one shot.
I'm under the impression Miss Selena Ollivander is Luna's great-grandmother or somethings of the sort, right? She seems like a very interesting character!! And her commenting on Quidlo was rather interesting, may I add.
Another of your characters I find addorable, I must confess, is Lord Withers. Poor winged-horse obsessed man. In a way he resembles Hagrid, doesn't he? I'd happily play for his Quidlo team anytime!!
Author's Response: You're correct that I had intended for Selena and Luna to be related. Prior to the release of the DH, I was convinced that the similarity between Luna's and Mr Ollivander's eyes was a clue that they were related.
Thanks for reviewing,
Hypatia
Teeheee, purple muskrat. No seriously that was a pretty fabulous story. I especially liked how you mixed modern characters' names with crazy cool 1600's names. Selena Ollivander had a striking resemblance to Luna Lovegood, which was awesome, considering Luna is one of my favourite characters. Great story! {:>
Author's Response: The resemblance you noted is there for a reason; it links to a story I wrote called Going Through The Motions. Thank you for your review!
This was a wonderful piece of writing, to say the least. It's the most refreshing story I've read in a long time. No wonder you won the challenge, my friend - the setting, the invention of the game and the rules, the caos, Miss Ollivander, and especially the way you enabled the reader to see almost all pure-blood canon families' ancestors together in a game of Quillidillo ;) You so very much deserved winning.
“Well isn’t that interesting? The Snitch just Disapparated,” remarked Selena.
“No! That ugly horse ate it!” screamed Muriel Jones.
I really cracked up here. I love the small glimpses of absurdity you threw in the game - it was so enjoyable to read. Though Miss Ollivander have an interesting likeness to Luna, doesn't she?
Congratulations on winning, and thanks for such a lovely read :)
Author's Response: Wow! Thank you so very much for your lovely review! I have to admit I had a lot of fun writing this story.
