Chapter: For the Sake of the Children

Oh, poor Harry. It's so sad Ginny dies in childbirth.

Despite the sadness at Ginny's death (if my username didn't give it away, I was always hoping for a long and happy life for the two of them), I thought it was a really powerful and well-written story. The scene by the tree was great, and the description you put into the delivery scene was just the right amount. You really gave the reader the ability to picture the scene, or at least, to picture the parts of the scene that were important to picture.

Hallie -

This is such a sad story! How tragic, really. I can't believe Harry lived through fighting Voldemort and the war, only to watch Ginny die in what should have been the happiest moment of his life. You’ve shown this story so amazingly well, too - it's powerful and definitely heart wrenching.

Your writing is simple and clear. I love how you describe things simply, but I can still envision them perfectly in my mind and they're usually beautiful images - save, you know, Ginny dying. Your writing is thought provoking, as well. You don't describe everything and that gives the reader something to think about along with the storyline. And as I've already said, it's powerful.

The only thing I can think of to nitpick is that this story may have been more powerful if in some places you showed a bit more and told a bit less. (But not in all, because telling has it's purposes.) I know, I know, you hate hearing the show v. tell mantra. But hear me out. =/

In the last paragraph of the section where Ginny dies, you have some wonderful showing. It's powerful and immediate and heart breaking. But, for example, when you described the kids, instead of telling us they were the spitting image of their parents their descriptions would have been enough...and when you say things like 'Harry looked at her, dumbfounded', you could show us how he was dumbfounded (i.e. his eyes were wide, he couldn't breathe, what was she saying, etc. etc.) instead of telling us. But that' just something to think about in your writing, and I know you do it in your other fics.

Anyway. This fic is amazing, Hallie. I love the ending. I know, I'm a sucker for things like that. (I laughed at the children's names - not because they were funny but because they were prophetic...they're like the names Jo gave the kids!)

Aw, this is so sad! Why did Ginny have to die?! WHY?! *cries*

This is a beautiful story, but oh so so so very sad! I love the flashback. It's full of hope and happiness, which was a nice little prologue before the twins were born. I thought Ginny's death was very sudden (although I've never seen anyone die after giving birth).

The ending was very sweet. The twins seem very cute and close. You should write a sequel! Unless you already have. In which case, do tell!~

Chapter: For the Sake of the Children the beginning I thought this was going to be a really happy, fluffy sort of story. But now that I've read the end, yes I think it is tragic, but it is hopeful. I love this kind of story. The kind that portrays some horribly sad, life-chancing thing, and the struggle of the characters to do the hardest and keep going with hope. It is so hard to be strong and hopeful.

That day, by the lake, they talked about nothing and everything while watching the clouds go by.

He had Ginny now and forever, however long that was, and that was what mattered the most.

Those were my two favorite lines. I like the expectancy of it all, and then the sudden plunge, the surprise of deatht hat just crept up on me. It was very good, sad and sweet.

And sorry I took such a long time to review a story of yours. I feel really bad. Life's been a bit hectic, that's all. Well, good luck in future writings too.

That was BRILLIANT!!! I loved the part where Harry was remembering when he told Ginny he loved her! It was so happy and romantic! The part where Ginny died was horrible! (the sad way) I had to stop reading at that part for a while because I couldn't read through my tears! You're a fantastic writer! I really love this fic!
