....Hmmmmmm.....I was sort of confused as to why Hermione was a beauty queen...and she didn't care about Harry! *sob*

Author's Response: Yes, this was a strange story. I wouldn't have made Hermione a beauty queen normally, but this story was originally written for a Romance class prompt to [try to] make cliches more believable, and the two cliches I used were (1) beauty-queen Hermione, and (2) a D/Hr romance. So, it is a little strange, but hopefully more believable than MOST D/Hr romances with a beauty-queen Hermione! :D

Aww. This is short and bittersweet. I love this, and have found a wonderful new fic to make a banner for for a BA challenge.

But why did Hermione turn to beauty peagants? It doesn't truly seem like her, but it was very easy to go along with! I love this ficlet and I *will* be reading more of your stuff. :)

Author's Response: Aww, I'm so glad that you liked it! I decided to have Hermione turn to beauty pageants because (I think I might've somewhat explained this in the fic... not sure...) but Hermione felt like her entire "old life" had been taken from her when all her friends died in the war. She then turned away from the wizarding world - and everything she WAS in that old life. She turned to beauty pageants simply because it was "everything she wasn't," and she's trying to find new meaning in her life while leaving her old life behind. It's kind of a convoluted way of looking at things, but I hope that makes sense! Anyway, thanks again, and I'm so glad you liked it! :D

Very nice little fic, I loved the characterization of Hermione and Draco. It all seemed like something that truly could happen.

Author's Response: Aww, thank you! That's really quite the complement. :D I love the way Hermione and Draco interact with each other... *gets all dreamy-eyed* :D

I'm sorry, but I just don't buy that Hermione's response to Harry and Ron's death would be to enter a beauty pageant. It doesn't so much speak of angst and depression as much as absurdity. Not sure if this is a one-shot or not, but it seems a pretty cheesy and unlikely Hermione/Malfoy romance beginning. I apologise if I seem harsh, but I have no use for such AU fics and your premise started out with potential.

Author's Response: In all fairness - and perhaps this is no excuse; you're certainly not required to waste your time reading useless AU fics - but I originally wrote this one-shot in response to a class prompt, in which I had to make two cliches a little more believable, the two cliches being beauty-pageant-winner!Hermione and a Draco/Hermione romance. I fully recognize that both of those are cliches, and perhaps they are a little "out there," but in my defense, I don't think Hermione's reaction to devastating loss is useless OR AU. I'm not saying she WOULD act this way; I'm saying she COULD, and there's quite a difference. We all react to grief in different, sometimes strange ways, and all I was trying to communicate in this one-shot is that people don't just sit down and bawl their eyes out when bad things happen. They try to move on with their lives, but sometimes it's hard to find meaning in your life when everything you had was stripped away from you. People do funny things when they start seriously thinking that their lives have no meaning. I think that's a more meaningful theme than mere "angst and depression" that a loved one passed away, and you're certainly entitled to disagree, but there IS a bit more to this story than a cheesy plot.

This was so sad. It has a lot of deep meaning. I think that Hermione would probably go back to being a Muggle. Kudos for the story. I think it is a really good plot-line. Can't wait for future work.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for the nice review! I'm glad you read so much into the story. <3
