Very well written first chapter! I really love reading Lily and James fan fics as long as they aren't cliche.
I really like this...is a bit too depressing but i like it. sometimes i think the only reason i read fanfiction is because of the way you wonderful people write about emotions. real human emotions, like love, pain, hatred, anger, longing etc etc.
it makes me feel more human and less empty!
i couldn't stop crying whenever someone died because as horrible as it is my best friend's mum just died this week after a car accident and i'm feeling particualarly vulnerable at the moment.
so, i guess i have to thank you! since crying makes pain more bearable for me at the moment.
but changing subjects...i was reading your response to one the reviews and you said something about always putting Sirius and Remus with people who end up dead or something around these lines...but anyway...does that mean that Marly will die? because i really love her! she's been through so much i truly felt for her on that chapter when she receives the letter about her parents. i rarely sympathise with OC's but i really do love her, and i hoped things were going to lighten up for her (if that's possible).
In the beginning i was really annoyed with Lily and how she was going about things. the war, mum, potter ,school.
and i was feeling a bit frustrated.
I absolutely love James characterisation! it's probably one of the best James' i have ever seen! he is so real and...and i don't know...!
Now this Review was way too long...sorry. you don't need to read it all or answer back. a last thought though...

Author's Response: Marly's actually not an OC - Marlene McKinnon was real. She's mentioned in OotP. Crying usually makes things more bearable - It's almost like a release. I'm sorry about your best friend's mum. My best to her family and yours. Everyone always tells me how they're annoyed with Lily -- believe me, I am too. I needed her to be at least a little bit annoying to go with the storyline, and she just escalated from there into a crazy war-hating peace-loving scared-of-everything girl. the way you described how James became almost mechanical in hearing about his father's death was so wonderfully depressing that I almost wanted to cry.

This is SUCH A GOOD STORY!! It's so readable, the characters just fit, and I got to the end of each chapter and couldn't believe it was the end already!
General Comment--you don't always put whose point of view the chapter is in on the top. There isn't a chapter where I couldn't figure out after a couple of lines who was speaking, but it would be good if you bolded and all caps-ed the name of the narrator for each chapter at the top.

Author's Response: i know, it's horrible, but i had forgotten that they had to die and it didnt fit anywhere else into the plot! lily will start dating james sometime after chapter 17. probably around chapter 20 hopefully if things go according to plan .
That's so sad!!! I mean i knew that Potter's had to die for Harry to have no family, but that was a sad way to die.
